Fuego Rita is solid. Ask them to add jalapeño stuffed olives to make it kick. Queso is nothing to write home about but make sure you DO NOT order the Chicken Tinga. I honestly though they made a mistake and brought me yesterday’s brisket. Bar staff is cool with enough TVs to watch a game.

Long wait times are common at this location. Typically not too bad because you can go to the bar and grab drinks while you wait. I was with a group of 4 and we got seated after about 15
minutes on my last visit at a small table that all 4 of us guys had trouble fitting at. Drinks came out quick, but food was slow and pretty bad once it came out (seemed like it had been sitting under a heat lamp for a while). Not sure if it’s like this all the time, but it has definitely gone downhill the past couple years.

I went there from out of town because I drove by it and it looked interesting. The service was absolutely horrible! Servers showed no interest or sense of urgency whatsoever. The manager stood in the back with his arms folded the whole time. The food was bland! There are a lot of other Mexican places in the area… I’m never going back there again!!!

This Tex-​Mex spot is conveniently located across the street from the stadium. With its proximity I figured they’d be all hands on deck on game day but no, service is slooooooow and they seem drastically understaffed. The drinks are ok but are way overpriced compared to the neighboring bars. Ruby Tequila’s is a small chain and I suspect their Lubbock pricing inappropriately mirrors their Houston location. Their saving grace is their fajitas are good tasty.

This place has a nice outside patio, it’s very popular on pleasant days. It’s a great location, across the street from the Tech stadium. I sat at the bar this trip and the bartender (Whitney) was friendly, and she checked back on me often. She was helping to cover the patio too. So she was defiantly in the weeds at times, but she kept a good disposition. The chips and salsa are complimentary and they put a little seasoning on their chips, which is nice. The salsa had a nice flavor, but no hint of any heat, which is good for some folks. The beans and rice weren’t anything special, and the tortillas didn’t taste fresh. The fajita beef had a nice grilled flavor and the chicken had a smoky taste, i kept trying to really like something and i just couldn’t. The food was OK, but the prices should come with better food.

Not much I can say about Ruby’s. The service is slow and our waitress checked on us once. My order was wrong and she farted loud and just walked off. I guess she ate too many beans tonight. I really liked the drunk guys hanging out and puking everywhere. It put a nice twist on the restaurant.

In town for daughter’s graduation. Went to Ruby Tequilas; party of eight. Service AND food was excellent! Try the Chili Chicken, and Habanero salsa for sure!

…If I should even give it a 1 star. Service is pathetic!!! I come here quite often because I HAVE to for work and every time I come, the service is slow, slow, slow, turtle slow!!! I was asked if I wanted a refill AFTER I was done with my meal. The queso was watery. I finished my meal before my counterparts every received their meals. My friend got her sides before her main dish came out and by the time her meat came, her sides were cold. I’d like to not give them an excuse but maybe they are under-​staffed. We didn’t have silverware and napkins for the longest. No small dishes for appetizers. Food is sub par.

I love sitting on their patio outside! I only go when it’s a nice day outside. The margarita with the wine mixed in it is pretty good! I don’t really go for the food as it is just okay.

the only reason I go here is for the drinks. the only reason it got 2 stars is for the drinks.
I’ve given ruby’s so many opportunities to show me its not all that bad. but the sad truth is that it is. every time I’ve ordered anything, it comes out looking like it sat out for 20 minutes before it got to my table. the queso on top of my enchiladas was hard and looked so old! and it’s like that every time. the meat is rubbery and you can just tell the quality is so bad. it’s such a shame because this place is such a fun stop to go with all your friends. even the fajitas taste terrible. how can you screw up fajitas? not to mention their awful food is soooo overpriced!!!
this is definitely what I’d call the Walmart of tex mex. only go here if you’re trying to get good margaritas and not remember anything that happened after those margs.

Came here around 6pm and this place was packed with college students.
+1 star: HH prices $ 3 small house margarita/​swirl, $ 5 large.
+1 star: Drinks tasted good, but not that strong.
+1 star: free chips and salsa
–1 star: Service was slow! She didn’t ask to refill our drinks, salsa or chips. Would have ordered more if she came by more often but it was so slow and we had to leave.

Terrible service. Mediocre food that came late and came late
We came after the Tech/​Arkansas game. Yes it was a game day but that’s no excuse… especially since the other restaurants could handle the capacity. Do yourself a favor and go to Chilli’s!
Our waitress seemed to be hating her job and not hiding it at all. I tried ordering a Bud Light Platinum and even though it’s on the menu and a large neon sign behind the bar I was told they didn’t have it, not out, just never served it.
We had to ask several for chips (because we were waiting so long for food) and the waitress blamed it on the kitchen. Except the big problem with that is she and all of the other wait staff were responsible for refilling chips from where I saw other wait staff not struggling so much.
Our food by the time it got there was cold and not appetizing at all. And frankly we weren’t too excited. Won’t be back again!

Called in a order for pick up. When someone finally answer the phone after 5 mins. I was put on hold, i waited about 8 mins and finally hung up. I then tried again to call with my phone after about 3−4mins i grabbed my hubby’s phone and called Ruby’s and finally someone picked up and took my order (the other phone still was not answer) I ordered fajita Nachos with lots of extra cheese and guacamole, no lettuce, no tomatoes or no peppers. i had him repeat my order and I stressed that I wanted ex cheese and would be glad to pay for it.
This was a poor excuse for nachos and defiantly not worth repeating The nachos barely had any cheese on them (dry), very little chicken but plenty of lettuce.
Wait time for someone to answer the phone and take my order and recognize me sitting at the pickup window was ridicules. I’m not sure if it’s laziness or waiters not listening but i’m sure it needs to be address.

Beautiful day in Lubbock, Texas so we thought we’d eat on the patio… it was 2:30 and the place was not crowded. Despite the staff that was visiting by the bar, the outside tables had not been bussed. So we went inside and were seated at a booth, next to the window. The window seal was filthy and the flies greeted us. I was ready to leave but our group of 4 was ready for food. We moved to a table hoping to get away from the flies… and it worked for awhile. We waited about 10 minutes for our water and soda to be delivered, and another 20 for food. Food was average, nothing special. Service and cleanliness were bad. No need to go back as far as our party was concerned. Thumbs down to Rudy Tequilas.

Poor service. I’ve been here several times over the past few years when dropping kids off at college. Service has always been average, but this time it was down right bad.
The place was only half full on a Friday night. Our waiter brought our drinks and took our order and then basically disappeared. We waited for our appetizers that never arrived and was ignored by other staff that I tried to flag down. Finally, he arrived to tell us they dropped our food and had to start all over. I let him know we still had not received our appetizers and he did finally bring that.
After our meal, which was OK, we got an obligatory «sorry» and that was about it.
The bar side seemed to be more active and served quickly, so if you’re going for a drink, this place is OK. If going for a sit down meal — I would look elsewhere.
