Catfish is dry like it was previously frozen. The batter has no seasoning or flavor. Unfortunately this dinner was not what I was craving in the least!

Guess I have been spoiled to Vernon’s Catfish Kitchen in Conroe because I was disappointed. Hushpuppies were bland, fish was crisp but flavor was all breading, slaw was too sweet. Will drive to Conroe for fish dinner.

Love this place. Great catfish with good batter. I really like their cornbread. I try to eat there every time I’m in the area!

We have driven past this place a few times on was to Port Aransas. The parking lot is always full so we stopped and we pleasantly surprised. The food is catfish and assorted other seafood with all the usual sides and a small but well done salad bar. The fist was very good — light cornbread breading, deep fired to perfection. The fish was very fresh and a large serving and a very good price. The place was full of locals, it was apparent that the kids came cause their parents brought them there and they went cause the grandparents went there too. We were told it had been there for over 40 years.

I’ve been going to eat at Catfish King ever since I was very little. On Sunday’s at lunch time it gets very busy and there is usually a line to the front door. This is one of those places where you stand in line and order your food, and then they’ll bring your food out to you. They have excellent catfish! However, my favorite this is their hush puppies! Yummy! I’m getting hungry just thinking about it… I also found out from my aunt that they’ll make a batch to order with no salt if you have dietary issues. She goes there often for my uncle because he loves catfish and it is the only place that he can get it with no salt added :)

Husband insisted on going, so reluctantly followed along. Got the Cajun catfish, which comes with a salad bar. The salad bar wasn’t too exciting, but the cats fish itself was amazing — no greasy, typical fish and chips feel.

When in East Texas I always have to seek-​out the Catfish Kings. Perfectly fried catfish, good hushpuppies, and great all-​you-​can-​eat coleslaw. The restaurants, like this one, seem to be dingy and dumpy now, but that catfish still rocks.
