Dropped by Gyro Uno this afternoon on the way home. Excellent fries and a huge gyro which was very flavorful! Definitely would go again

After having tried to eat dinner here on two other occasions when I was in town only to find that they had closed early, I finally scored. I had a platter that consisted of a greek salad, pita bread, rice pilaf and gyro meat. The food all tasted good. The portions were generous. The price was a bit much for having been served on styrofoam. The platter and a regular size fountain drink totaled over 16 bucks.

*disclaimer: i have not eaten here yet so my review may change* I have seen this restaurant here in Madison and Decatur so i decided to order some food. I called in for a delivery order(as posted here, website and store) when someone picked up the phone they said that they no longer deliver and that they were closed. Every place online has it posted that they close at 9PM on Saturdays i called at around 8:05PM on a Saturday. Needless to say that this place may want to update their online hours of operation and delivery status. So i ordered Venice Pizza instead for my Gyro fix.

My real evaluation lies between«Meh, I’ve experienced better and A-OK…“For a chain type restaurant it’s not bad though. I had the falafel gyro with fries and it was ok. Personally I think the portions are rather smallish and could use some enhancement. This place is good for a fast meal but it certainly is not great! Staff is hit or miss, but the physical aspects of the store is always clean… Good ace in the hole when you want something fast to eat.

Obviously you will go here fora gyro. Papa is better in town. The fries are pretty good but very fried. There could be more toppings on the gyro. Salads are large. In general this is still a good lunch spot just not the best gyro. Folks have a New York flare that could be positive or negative. Decorations are nice.

Friendly and fairly fast service. Tasty enough gyro but i must admit i was expecting something more authentic, i’ve had many gyros in Greece and Cyprus, this one though seemed more of an arabian influence than greek, but worth giving it a try.

I had the Beef & Lamb Gyro Platter, which is what I get at other Greek joints. Gyro Uno’s offering was good, not great, but good. The place was clean, and had a good atmosphere, even if nobody was there. If I had to choose one thing to complain about it would be their tzatziki sauce. It was bland, warm, and tasted like sour cream. As other reviewers have said, this place is no Papa Gryo. The only similarity is the price. I’ll eat here again, but only when I’m too lazy to venture deeper into Huntsville.

This little mom and pop is bright and inviting. Open comfortable seating and the tunes from Sirius are a the proper level to enjoy a conversation. A great in cluttered menu where every choice is a winner. I had the combo gyro which is chicken schwarma and the traditional beef lamb gyro meat. This way I could taste both. I also got some extra Taziki cause that’s how I roll. It’s a great place for lunch. Not so sure I’d make this a dinner stop. It’s good come N get it!!!

For fast-food & delivery it ain’t half bad… portions are good sized, side dishes as well — it’s not Greek, not even close — but a good alternative to pizza or other fast food restaurants… stick with the chicken, everything else is on the dry, overcooked side

First off I’ve given this joint five stars cause it deserves to have a higher star rating than what folks have given it thus far. having said that, I’ve eaten here four times in the month that I’ve lived in Madison. After living and working a various places from Mississippi to Florida to Kentucky to Alabama in the last three years, I always look for good Mediterranean food no matter where I’m at. As far as fast food goes, this place is fantastic! They don’t serve a variety of middle eastern things, it’s more of a gyro/burger place but they do the lamb and beef gyro right! Also the falafel is hot and crisp on the outside they way it should be, the Dolmades aren’t those weird hot meaty things you find sometimes which I hate! I will continue to frequent this place in my time here, I hope to try the wing challenge as well when I can find a worthy opponent. Keep it up Gyro Uno!

I recently visited Gyro Uno for the first time. Although I am excited about the prospect of a new Greek joint in town, I have mixed feelings. My gyro platter was good. It wasn’t special or knock-your-socks-off good… But I liked it. It was a fair amount of meat. The included Greek salad wasn’t bad. My girlfriend had a hamburger which was also«good» but nothing special. We shared some hummus. Same story there. The service was good, but slow. I assume this is a product of it being grand opening… New menu, new employees. That’s not a big deal to me. The biggest problem was price. For those three dishes I mentioned above, we paid over $ 30. I honestly thought the cashier was joking when he gave me the total. We sat down to wait, hoping the quality of the food would be able to stand up to the cost. Unfortunately it fell flat. I like that they are open late. For your money, though… Venice Pizza will deliver a similar gyro for less. They are open pretty late as well, and they have a larger menu. Also, they will deliver pretty much anywhere in town. If I could go to Gyro Uno and pay $ 6-$ 8 for a platter, I might be back. But it simply wasn’t worth $ 12+ I paid. There are probably meals on their menu that offer more bang for your buck, just be sure to consider price while you order. The interior décor is random, cluttered, and a little tacky to my taste. But I’m not one to really care about that kind of thing. Signs on the wall that read things like«Eat at your own risk» are cute now, but will be unfortunately inappropriate if people happen to get sick here. I won’t go out of my way to re-visit Gyro Uno, but I won’t avoid it either.

I enjoy eating greek/mediterrannean food, but there are limited places around here that you can find it. Which is why I was thrilled when i saw that Gyro Uno was coming to Madison. Disappointed enough, I have tried this place out on 3 seperate occasions and each time I was very disatisfied. The prices are more expensive than what I anticipated and the food is not up to par. I live about 5 minutes from Gyro Uno, but making the 15 minute drive to Papa Gyro is so much more worth it.

This is a clean, bright, new restaurant. I like that unlike most places in Madison, it’s open late(until midnight) on weekends. Their hummus is really good– I’d come get some hummus to keep in the fridge instead of going to Earth Fare or Publix. The grape leaves were tasty too– nice leaves that are easy to bite into, where you find the sticky flavorful rice inside. The felafels were freshly fried so they were good, but they’re not the best I’ve had. The most important– the gyro meat– was just okay. I thought the 2-meat platter(I picked gyro meat, felafels, with rice and a small salad) was expensive at $ 13.99. There were 5 felafels and 2 long shavings of slightly dry gyro. I think they’re not busy enough for the gyro to sell out throughout the day. I didn’t see baba ganoush on the menu, but I could’ve missed it. Burger and wing lovers can go for a late night binge, but I’m not in a hurry to pass up Papa Gyro or Jamo’s for this place.

The gyros was good but not great. The service was very slow. My wife ordered the Beatnik; the order was messed up but they did fix it. We might give it one more try to see if there is any improvement.

Been here a handful times since the opening, and I am feeling 3.5 stars for this place. The place is clean, and the staffs are friendly. I typically get combo no. 1, good old typical gyro with lamb. It’s fairly good, good size too. I have not tried others yet. The fries are good too, although this one time I went in during a none-meal hour, and the fries tasted like re-fried fries. Unlike other reviews, I have not had any real problems so far, however, as other have mention, the wait is sometimes long. Also, the seats are very limited. I like this place enough, I definitely will be back.

So, First thing people are noticing here is probably the 2 stars. Let me explain — this restaurant is by no means a bad alternative to something like McDonalds or Hardees. If you’re tired of the same ol same ol fast food crap, hit this up. Now. on to why its 2 stars. This is no Papa Gyros. The food is OK, and they do deliver so thats a plus. The real con to this place is the staff. It might be just because the place is new, but the staff have no familiarity with their product at all. The Gyros do come off an autodoner but they just don’t do it right. They don’t brown the meat, they just slice it off and serve it. I asked the guy at the counter if the falafels were hand made or out of a bag. He assured me they made it themselves but when I got it, it was fairly clear this was the puck-like falafel you get from frozen food suppliers. The staff argues amongst themselves often, and the disarray causes the food to come out very slowly. SO all in all it doesn’t compare to Papa Gyros at all. This is like the«I’ll take it anyway» Gyro place in Madison because its just too far to go to Papa Gyros.
