I really like this place. I like the drinks, décor, ambiance, and the food. I really like the Brussels sprouts, Buffalo cauliflower, and the veggie burger and the mussels. Good job Moxie

I’m so happy that the shoreline is starting get to some great spots for delicious cocktails and fun eats! Since I’m a designer, let me first talk about the atmosphere. I AMOBSESSED. The décor is cool and casual but no detail has been left unnoticed. There are little tiles set into the concrete bar that spell out drink-related words. The menu graphic design is spot on. The wallpaper is great. The bar has a garage door that opens out onto the outdoor seating in the rear … When it’s starts to get dark out and the string lights are on… There’s no place i’d rather be. Moxie is such a nice change of pace and is a trendy oasis is the land of nautical themed everything. The cocktails are amazing. The menu is always changing and they are so interesting and fresh. There is a significant beer and wine list as well. The food is very tasty. Especially their chicken buns. The fries are seasoned to perfection — a slight salt and vinegar flair. I haven’t had their more serious dinner entrée options but I’m looking foreword to giving them a try — especially the chicken and waffles.

I’ve been here a few times and the food and bar is great. It’s better in the summer when they open the garage doors, but then you have the bees and flies… outdoor eating, oh well. I like the fresh air. The drinks are excellent. I’d say the food is too heavily salted for my normal tastes. One time, the fries were inedible because they were just too salty! But the burgers are great and the fried brussels sprouts divine!(also salty). I like their«logo» with the jeep-y thing.

Everything was top notch. We stopped at moxie as we were driving down 95 during a road trip. the rest stop options weren’t very tempting, so we consulted with Unilocal for local fare in the area. one exit down from the rest stop, Moxie was two quick turns. The ambiance is great– very industrial hipster. We ate outside and everything was great. My friend had the classic burger with the salt and vinegar fries. She said it was excellent. I had the fried chicken buns with the salt and vinegar fries. I’ve never had anything quite like it! I love Korean buns, but this was a great new spin on it. The sauce it came with was equally delicious. It was creative, unique, and very tasty. I highly recommend Moxie, and I’m glad we took the top to stop during our trip down 95.

Our experience today was much better. Amazing sandwiches and drinks. They have happy hour specials all day on Sundays. Great mimosas and bloody Mary’s. I had a fantastic rose sangria too! The bartender was very friendly.

We stopped in for a late lunch around 2 on a Saturday afternoon and there was an hour wait for a table so clearly this is a popular spot. Fortunately there were seats available at the bar, and while I did not find a beer on draft that I liked, we did find some great vegetarian food options to enjoy. To start, we shared the buffalo cauliflower and it was really good. It is one of the many ways to take a good healthy food, bread and deep fry it and make it not so good for your but taste oh so yummy. It had just the right amount of buffalo sauce on it and was sprinkled with blue cheese. We would have preferred a blue cheese or ranch dressing on the side, rather than the dabs of sour cream around the side that did not really make sense with the dish. It was still really good and I would get it again minus the blue cheese sprinkles and the sour cream, plus a dipping sauce. We also tried the vege burger which was made with beats and the house-made option sure beat any other frozen vege or bean burger that we find in many other restaurants. Another unhealthy but delicious choice is the side of house cut fries sprinkled with their own special salt mix. I meant to ask if they sell the salt because it was really good. The salads and soups looked healthier and yet still hearty. When in town I would definitely stop by Moxie again.

Decided to give this place another try after a so so experience a year or so ago. Really pleased with the food, service, atmosphere and cocktails. Came with my mom for lunch and we sat out on the patio — sunny and beautifully executed. Interesting and extensive cocktail list, smaller menu with some quirky options. We got the Reuben and the Roast Turkey — hearty, interesting, yet classic sandwiches. Moxie does a nice job of mixing up the classics with some trendier and interesting switch ups.

I am going to be completely honest here and say that I only chose to stop by Moxie for dinner because I thought it had an adorable name. What a pleasant surprise as it turned out to be one of the best dinner experiences I’ve had in a LONG time. This place is very trendy-cool with cool décor and on point seasonal items on their menu. Their bar area has a huge garage door that seems to open up during nice weather to an adorable little outdoor porch with a fire pit as well. Loving it already! We ordered an assortment of items from their menu — all of which were incredible. They even bring out little biscuits with local honey on them to start(which I will be dreaming about for a looooonnngg time). I had the pea gnocchi and we shared the buffalo cauliflower to start. Two super unique items that were executed perfectly. I can’t wait to come back and try more soon. I love Madison — but Moxie gives you even more reason to love visiting!

Good — but hard to walk in an get seated at lunch or dinner — too long of a wait for so-so food

Really terrific dining experience here! We have been twice and will go back again. Food was extremely well prepared and wonderful quality. Nice menu with options for all. Steak and scallops were first rate. Loved the mac & cheese. The setting is really relaxing and it reminded me a lot of some of the places I have eaten in LA over the years. Laid back and simple with good food. Service was courteous and kind. Not a big place so reservations are recommended. We showed up early for our 8:45, and they got us seated quickly. This is a wonderful addition to the shoreline food scene. Hope they inspire others to follow.

Had«dinner» here this past Saturday night. The menu looks like it was concocted by the old Paula Deen and Guy Fieri. Almost everything on the very limited menu looks like a cardiologists worst nightmare. Breaded, fried, and full of saturated fats. We had a reservation and were seated promptly. A one hour wait to get the salad I ordered. room was very warm, and I suspect the LONG wait for food arrival is to encourage more beer/drink consumption. I complained after 50 minutes to the server and after the meal the manager came over as she understood we had a problem and offered to buy dessert. Too little, too late. Would never eat here again.

Creative food. One of the better chefs in a town that has a number of good resturants. Sit outside if you can(seasonal) not a fan of the awkward dining room. Lots of favorite dishes. Like many(not all) Madison restaurants the serving staff is not the most friendly but you don’t see them often so they don’t bother you to much.

My boyfriend and I came here for Valentine’s Day dinner last night and we were SO pleased. I had two drinks while we were there-Stay Classy, Madison & Love is Hell(one of their drink specials for Valentine’s Day) and both were delicious. While we waited for our appetizers, we were given rolls. They were sweet(from the honey), salty and buttery, warm and flaky and just plain amazing. We ordered the fried chicken skins and Mac Crack for our appetizers. I was in heaven at that point! The chicken skins were crispy with a little bit of heat from the hot sauce and they were sweet(sweet and spicy always wins in my book) and the Mac crack was exactly what it entailed in the name– CRACK; five different cheeses, roasted tomatoes and Parmesan breadcrumbs– SOGOOD. For dinner, my boyfriend ordered the fried chicken and I had the fish tacos. Both were delicious. The fish was light and flaky and paired with the fried shallots & coconut curried tomatoes, the flavors were perfect together. I had to order a side of the fried Brussels sprouts because from all of the reviews I had read, those were a must. Quite honestly, I don’t even like Brussels sprouts but fried with bacon & cranberries? They’re hard not to like! Glad I tried them. Although we were pretty stuffed at this point, everything had been SOGOOD, how could we not try dessert? So we did. We ordered the Baked Hot Chocolate and the Warm apple turnover. And of course, not to my surprise, both were exactly what I had hoped. The apple turnover was still hot from the oven and drizzled with caramel and pecans and the baked hot chocolate was super rich and creamy and paired with two delicious orange and chili shortbread cookies. We couldn’t have had a better meal. I can’t wait to eat there again! I can see this becoming our regular spot.

This place has awesome vegan chili! I lunch here with friends sometimes, and it’s always good. In the summertime they have a back deck that you can eat out under the stars(as well as an indoor/outdoor bar). When you make reservations they confirm via text, which is very convenient.

Nice atmosphere. The Mac crack is delicious(and I usually don’t like Mac and cheese)! However, the last time we went none of the winter specials or menu items looked appealing. Definitely liked the summer menu better. We will go back once the winter menu is gone.

Great vibe, fun ambience. Did not make a reservation but hostess recommended we enjoy drinks at the bar while we waited for our table. The wait did not end up being long… about 20 minutes or so. We enjoyed appetizers(Mac ‘n Cheese, Fried Buffalo Cauliflower) and main dish(Brisket and Roasted Brussel Sprouts with Bacon). All were quite tasty. The service(everyone from bartender to hostess to wait staff) was friendly and accommodating. Would definitely return.

ABSOLUTEWORSTSERVICE. Hosts really need to check there attitudes and not lie to a customers face. Poor service! Waited over an 1hr for food to go b/c they wouldn’t seat us. Lied and said it was an 1hr wait. There were available tables and still wouldn’t seat us. When we got our food it was cold and inedible. The food is boring, over priced and the wait staff is inept and far from qualified. The blond women at the front desk was incredibly out of line. Resturant will not last long, food sucks!

Cool atmosphere. Lovely décor. Lunch crowd was light, yet, after ordering, our meals took over 30 minutes to arrive! If not for the long wait, I’d have given 5 stars but at 1pm on a Saturday, lunch shouldn’t be a nearly 2 hour affair — and we didn’t have complicated items: burger, veggie burger, chicken in steamed buns. Our conclusion — food is good, don’t go if you’re hungry.

Love! Reasonably priced, great food, awesome outdoor seating. Alex was a great waitress! If it’s nice outside, make sure to go for the outdoor seating ** as an edit, this was my first time here. I grew up in Madison and my family still lives there, so this will not be my last visit!

We had a very delightful lunch at Moxie on a cold March afternoon. I am happy that I did not listen to some of the reviews in Unilocal I’m picky. The interior was fresh and creative. The menu boards, use of brown paper –the pop of red in the chairs and napkins. The parking and service were excellent. We tried the tomato! bisque soup, the steak salad, the vinegar fries, the Rueben and the Bananas Foster bread pudding. All were beautifully played and the portions generous. Everything was hot ! Our drinks cold! The seating comfy. I’m now anxious to return for dinner. I like the fact that there’s space between the tables so we do not feel like we are forced to listen to our neighbors conversation!
