Beautiful fresh salad and blackened Ahi Tuna for brunch! The service staff and attention to detail was a wonderful surprise for a Sunday morning. If you are on vacation don’t miss this Resturuant but make sure you phone for a reservation so you don’t miss out.

Awesome second time here everything is fresh, and mostly grown locally. This Chef rocks. Lamb ragu was off the charts. Local or visitor, they treat you like regulars.

This place has some of the best food you will find on Maui. Truly a gem. Every meal I have had here has been wonderful. Every ingredient used is perfection, from the local tomatoes & goat cheese to the fresh catch of the day. There greens are so perfect you could eat them alone with nothing on them and be happy! Not to mention they offer amazing wines by the glass that change weekly hand chosen by someone amazing because the wines are equal to the perfect food. Really couldn’t be happier, just wow. Must eat here if you have not already! Coming from a true foodie and wine geek.

Horrible customer service Olivia had no compassion to a death that recently happen in the family. We explained the situation to her and asked very kindly to cancel our reservation due to this unfortunate event that JUSTHAPPEN. Olivia went on saying we will STILL need to charge the cc on file $ 150.00 for the last minuet cxl. We told her again the death that just happen and her continued response was«we’re a small business» we asked and asked but she denied it. This place has absolutely no Aloha, no compassion! This place is a horrible representation of Maui and Maui is small, word will get out.

Great food! And cute atmosphere. A little pricey, and wouldn’t mind it if you had waitress at tables instead of having to stand in line to order.

We stopped by Market Fresh Bistro on our way to Haleakala. Given the number of reviews this place received, we figured it would be a safe bet. The food was decent. The service was good but a bit slow. They didn’t seem super busy but we ended up waiting close to ½ an hour for our food. This wasn’t the end of the world. Luckily there were a couple of boutiques opened so we killed time by perusing those stores. We ordered the lobster omelet, French toast with strawberries and the Catch Benedict. All of the dishes were relatively decent but I wouldn’t call them superb. I wasn’t «wowed» but I wasn’t disappointed. Perhaps it was the wait that affected my overall experience but nonetheless I wasn’t overly impressed. Despite its decency, I can’t say I would return unless I was around the area and in need of a breakfast joint.

You can solidly expect good breakfast food here. It’s not super fast but is pretty fresh and of good quality. Great coffee. Service is good to excellent depending on the day. It’s nice to sit outside, the inside is pretty underwhelming as far as ambience goes.

Folks, little places like this are the reason why Unilocal is so great. It’s tucked away in a courtyard — I would never have just happened upon it — and boasts a small but delightful repertoire of breakfast and lunch items. I went with the catch of the day sandwich. Yes. 10⁄10 would recommend. My pan seared shutome(broadbill Hawaiian swordfish) was PERFECT. Literally, guys… Unfff. Juicy and moist and okay I’m salivating as I write this. Served on a warm, gently toasted ciabatta with a kalamata olive aioli(+2 creativity points) with a fresh slice of tomato and lettuce. Service was attentive and I enjoyed my lunch under the shade of a lovely leafy tree. So glad I took myself out to lunch today! Food: 5 Service: 5 Ambiance: 5 Five stars!

Had delicious fish sandwiches here. Also there was a mushroom — potato soup that was obviously homemade and very good. There was a very light fresh salad on the side. We were surprised to find such delicious food in this small«cowboy» town which seems heading away from cowboy and toward hipster.

We come here often… love the fresh delicious salads. My favorite dish is the market salad with locally made tofu. It’s bright and airy in the cute Makawa’o town. The town has become gentrified as has so much of Maui.

Love this place, reliably fresh and delicious breakfast and lunch. So nice to sit outside under the tree on the bricks. We had the special crab benedict. Perfectly executed, super scrumptious fresh crab, seasoned with a lovely lemony flavor. The tomatoes were like candy, so good. Music inside is cranked up weirdly loud and the art on the walls was not my favorite — despite these aesthetic differences — 5 stars for great food, casual pleasant setting and warm, easy service.

Glutenfree selection, is omelette only, but two good omelette choices with a side of greens. The limeade is delicious, and for regular diners, you can have the ½ Bennie and waffle if you like! This year they changed up how you order, walk in, grab a menu, order, pay, take your table sign and choose your seat. Feels a bit rushed, so maybe check out the menu beforehand. You can sit in the outdoor courtyard as well! Sunday open 9 – 2, other days 9 – 3, Thursday farm to table supper, and closed Monday. Today the lobster omelette was a fresh, and stuffed with chunks of Kona lobster, but lacking a little seasoning. Would have loved a wee shake of salt. The local goat cheese and mushroom omelette was very creamy and really lovely. The rest of our group had French toast with Hawaiian sweet bread, and banana on top, which was well received, and as mentioned at the beginning, ½ Bennie & waffle. Washrooms are just off the courtyard up the ramp on the right, and available parking out behind the building that I forgot about this year, but got nearby street parking. We make the 45 minute journey upcountry, meet friends and have a nice brunch during shoulder season. Town is lovely to wander around with great boutiques to check out while you are here.

Idyllic setting at the back of a garden walk off the main road in Makawao — cool breezes coming straight through the trees make this the best spot to be on a warm afternoon. The smell of fresh fish being grilled comes through the screen doors and windows of this small artsy restaurant and greets you before you know you’re hungry! The menu is small but has something for everyone — steak for the carnivores, fish for seafood lovers, salads for vegetarians, and baked goods for those with the sweet tooth! The kitchen has an open layout so you get the feeling of being in your own comfy home. It’s nice to have that feeling without having to cut, prep, or clean! The catch of the day was blow your mind tenderly fresh swordfish today! I added that to my Garden Fresh vegetable salad — a heavenly mix of all locally grown veggies(and some squash flower petals!) the pesto vinaigrette was perfectly spritzed, adding just the little bit of flavoring to touch upon the senses! Best salad on the island! I will definitely make this a regular spot whenever I’m on the island!

Market Fresh Bistro saved the day! We were originally suppose to go to Casanova for lunch since my dad needed a fish fix and loved the mahi he had there two years ago. Unfortunately they closed the restaurant for the tour group which makes no sense to me since it is only a small group and do not take up the entire restaurant, in fact barely half. Disappointed and no clue where to eat in Makawao, I remembered a small bistro that I read about years ago and pulled up my trusty Unilocal to find it. Tucked into a courtyard, it is a unpretentious place that serves up great food. At first my dad was so discouraged that he thought he couldn’t find anything to eat since he wasn’t in the mood for sandwich or salad. But finally he decided to go with the shutome sandwich. I was apprehensive as to whether he would enjoy it since he had his mind set on the mahi and swordfish tends to be firmer and easy to dry out so I ordered the chicken sandwich just in case he wanted to switch. We were pleasantly surprised that not only was the shutome perfectly cooked and therefore was moist and juicy, my chicken sandwich was also delicious and moist. Wow! It made him happy again and for that Market Fresh really saved the day!

What a surprise! Tucked away in the courtyard, is this hidden gem. We arrived for lunch, looked at the specials and asked a lot of questions. Ultimately I ordered the swordfish sandwich, blackened, topped with some capers, wasabi aioli, and lettuce and tomato. The swordfish was perfectly seasoned, only a little heat and still very juicy! The side salad with a lemon vinaigrette made for a great entrée. I finished my meal with a nutella muffin. However this muffin was more brownie and cake like. With ribbons of Nutella, this was a decadent dessert. Comes with a side of Vanilla butter! Yum! Hope to try more items!!!

Where to begin. This is there second time we’ve been here and the second time we’ve had the most fantastic breakfast. The location is awesome, tucked in Makawao town behind Makawao steak house, there’s indoor and outdoor seating(we sat outdoors under the tree both times, don’t let the little passing showers deter you, its fabulous out there) Now for the food, egg benedict for the win. Awesome awesome awesome. The bacon is a win too, this time we split the mini waffles and so glad we did. Four mini waffles with strawberries, vanilla bean butter, maple syrup and powdered sugar. The waffles were both crisp and light and fluffy. If they know you’re sharing the dish, they’ll split it in the kitchen. Something about coffee being in a clear glass mug, it was awesome. The staff here are very friendly. Its a order at the counter and take a seat kind of place. Prices are reasonable, $ 12 for eggs benedict.

Came here for lunch on a hot day… sat outside under the big tree and it was heaven! Their catch of the day was monchong – my favorite fish of all time! I had the vegetable salad and added the sautéed monchong – so good! The fish was tender and moist with just a light oil flavor, and the salad had green beans, fresh beets, broccoli, carrots, and fresh organic lettuces. Hubby had the blackened fish sandwich – also delicious! Iced green tea was quickly refilled, and our server was helpful and friendly. Total was $ 45 – typical for a Maui lunch. Will definitely be back – maybe for breakfast!

Market Fresh Bistro is our top go-to place on Maui. The owners are the best, they’re always there, always friendly, making sure that things are running smoothly. The chef is a master, serious about his craft, and it definitely shows. The muffins are a great starter for breakfast, but you have to get there early before they sell out! The breakfast menu is a bit limited but there’s always enough of a choice for us. Omelets and bennies and french toast are all winners. Don’t pass up the lilikoi jam — it’s the best! Even if you don’t like toast and jam, you gotta try this! Of course the coffee is good and they have fresh squeezed orange juice. Lunches and dinners are good as well. All of the food is so fresh — like their name! — the lettuce always tastes like it was just picked, the fish is always firm and delicious. Save room for the tiramisu, a house specialty. It is on the wet side but it’s amazing, some of the best I’ve had. It’s BYOB, so if you want some wine or beer with your meal be sure to stop at Rodeo General Store up the street first. The ambience is nice — classic, super-casual Makawao style. There’s outdoor seating under some shade trees that’s great when it’s sunny and there’s plenty of parking in their off-street lot. Give Market Fresh Bistro a try, I think you’ll enjoy it.

Awesome seared mahi mahi egg benedict for brunch. I loved it. It was the menu du jour. I wish they were in the SF Bay area too. Not overpriced with good /fresh local food.
