I come to Malibu to spend a nice day outside and this is a great post-beach/hike spot. The food is great and reasonably priced and I liked the 2 beers I tried which I haven’t seen elsewhere. We had the salmon chia bowl, fish tacos and the tataki tower and all were excellent. I’m knocking off a star for service because it was really slow but was also in the pre-dinner hour so maybe that’s why.

Everything about this restaurant except for the view was terrible. I came here with my boyfriend for lunch, and we both ordered a lunchtime plate with a side. He got the chicken skewers with potatoes and I got the seared tuna with charred broccolini. First off, our waiter was very perfunctory and disappeared for long amounts of time despite there not being many people in the restaurant. He ran off the minute he brought the food, check, etc. I wanted to complain about my tuna but he didn’t even turn around at my ‘excuse me’. The food also took forever to come out. However, the food itself was the worst part. My seared tuna was tough, stringy, and practically inedible. My boyfriend’s dish was okay, nothing special, but I was shocked at the poor quality of this tuna being served in a restaurant. How does something like this even happen? Is there no quality control at this place? It was worse than the very first time I ever tried making seared tuna at home! I was highly disappointed with my experience here and will definitely not be back.

Dang 5 stars all around. First and foremost our server Marissa was serious so amazing. I came here for my birthday today and she was so cool from the get go. I made a joke about her trying to say a Spanish word and failing and she totally went with the joke and went along and added to it. She was a great sport and made us feel like she’s known us forever. She checked in on us periodically but not too much. I can’t stand a server who is over barring and comes too much. The food is to die for!!! That’s it. Dope server and dope food.

Fun and delicious menu. Good beers. We got the Mac n cheese, calamari, artichoke to start. All pretty good. We each got dive burgers with duck confit and Gruyère cheese. Very tender and tasty. Finished with an undercooked cookie and ice cream with toasted marshmallows. The best. Very friendly and attentive service by Julia. Sweetheart. Will come back again.

Andy was a great bartender! All around very friendly staff. Great drinks and great atmosphere; perfect for a date! Definitely recommend the Rascal ale. Really can’t go wrong with one of the Stonehouse brews either! Not a ton of good options for food, which was a little overpriced.

Great food. Sounded a little over garnished but was great! Pickled red onions were a nice touch. We had shrimp tacos awesome! Also the Cod tacos yum! The drunken Mac n Cheese was surprisingly good! Love the place and the staff…

The food is bomb, but the service could be a tad bit better. The girl who sat us(with the inner forearm tattoo) was nice and helpful, but the server(latina lookin girl) never came back to check on us and laggin once our food was served. The tuna and bison burgers were so good that Id come back again to let these servers redeem themselves. Ill update this review if the overall service is better the next time around.

Love, love, loved it! Food is incredible. Really for Malibu, this place serves great food. Unless you want to try to get into Nobu and pay big bucks, or go to other local restaurants that have a good ambiance but below average to average food, then stop wondering and try this place. … Live music, casual, fun. We need more of these type of places here.

Love this place! Kind of pricey even for Malibu standards but I had the pork belly mac & cheese and it was delicious. My only complaint was that it was kind of small. for $ 20 I need enough for leftovers and i literally would have needed to order 2 or 3. Mind you I’m a small female who doesn’t eat all that much, lol. Also need an outlet outside, i couldn’t plug my laptop in. Suggestion? Order the ufc fights. There is literally no place for us locals to watch them without going to thousand oaks, calabasas or santa monica and i feel like you guys have potential!

We stopped in for lunch after some hiking yesterday. They get a star for having a nice dog friendly patio but that’s about it. We had some of the worst service ever! Right when we got the menus, the waitress named some of specials and we ordered deviled eggs while we looked over the menu. We then ordered a skirt steak lunch special and a bison burger. We asked for both on the rarer side and the burgers without pickles. When the entrees finally came they were both very well done and there were like eight pickles on the burger. She didn’t listen to a single request! And we hadn’t received the deviled eggs yet. I mentioned it to her and they came out right as we were finishing up our entrees – no real apologize or anything. At one point she even cleared an empty plate and completely ignored our empty water glasses. It was the middle of the afternoon and they weren’t busy – most of the tables on the patio emptied out while we were there. With so many great restaurants in Malibu, needless to say we won’t be back!

We came here for a quick lunch while out and about in Malibu. We walked in to an empty place but it was still early. The waitress was very attentive and recommended a couple of small plates to us. We opted for the salmon jalapeño poppers, the quinoa cakes, the octopus and the roasted cauliflower. Honestly, all of the dishes were fantastic. I’d have to say the salmon poppers were probably my favorite, followed by the octopus. I would highly recommend this place if you are looking for a quick bite in the area. Price was reasonable as well. We will definitely return in the future if ever in the area.

The food is creative and delicious, the drinks divine, and atmosphere is light, airy and relaxed. We visited during lunch on a Saturday. The service was prompt and the food served hit. Then the bill came. $ 80.66. Thus was the bill for two people who ordered two small plated each and one drink each. Ouch. Spending that at dinner is acceptable but luch a little ridiculous.

Stopped here for lunch while driving through Malibu and was well pleased. My wife and I split the fish tacos and the ahi tuna poke. The tacos were good, but the poke was great. I’d have a hard time not ordering that again if I was ever back in town. The super friendly waitress and the relaxing atmosphere of the covered outdoor patio made for an enjoyable experience.

Dined here around 2pm yesterday and ended up finding out that the lemon that comes with the plates was moldy on the inside. It was conveniently covered up with a decorative leaf so that’s pretty sketchy. Too bad I didn’t realize this until the end of the meal once I had squeezed it all over my food. Our server didn’t say anything and just took the plate away and dropped off the check after we asked the manager to take the offending entrée off. The manager originally asked us how much of a discount we wanted on the bill… Which felt like a pretty awkward position to be in. It’s too bad since the food originally exceeded my expectations!

I went here for Valentine’s Day with my boyfriend. We were driving around Malibu and came along this cute little shopping center and found Duck and Dive. Now, I always find something to like at every single restaurant I go to eat or even if it’s a new place I’m trying, I always enjoy. But from the moment I walked in and saw the Manager at the host stand, I knew I was going to be annoyed. I work at a restaurant myself, and we pride ourselves on being friendly and having happy people working. I understand the service industry and I would hate if a Guest were to feel the way I did at Duck and Dive. My boyfriend and I were told to wait 30 minutes for a table for two when the place wasn’t crowded at all. An older couple was complaining in front of us and noticed just like we did that there were four big tables open outside. I noticed it was understaffed and I understood it would take awhile. The host, who I believe was the manager, was very short and unwelcoming. More people started coming in and noticed the same things we noticed… Empty uncleaned tables, no seating or waiting area… And unfriendly staff. Eventually we got sat by the host/manager who was talking on the phone while seating us, waitress asked right away what we wanted, didn’t even greet us or really even smile and would just walk away. We had Mac and cheese, alright. Tuna Tataki which we didn’t even touch because it was way too sweet and a flavorless pretzel burger. Best thing about it was the Mexican Coke. The waitress was quick enough to drop off the bill though. Again, I have not yet written a bad review until now and I completely understand how many different things happen in restaurants to set back customer satisfaction. But Duck and dive was definitely the worst experience we’ve had. Hopefully they can get their staff in better spirits, some more lights, and a friendlier manager.

Stumbled upon this hidden gym on the Saturday of a long weekend and, though parking was a nightmare, was surprised to be seated immediately. We ordered the skirt stake lunch, Mary’s chicken dive bowl, and the corn starter. Everything was fresh and absolutely delicious; I would definitely eat hear again. Enjoy!

My second experience at Ollie’s was significantly better than the first, probably because i made safer selections this time around. I took a chance with the tuna poke, and that one nipped my adventurous side in the bud. Why put such thick, goopy teriyaki on such fresh tuna? Fortunately, my experience got a whole lot better when I started ordering the tried-and-true. It’s hard to mess up cheese, for example, and the Honey Goat Brie is a sweet, indulgent spread. It seems they should stick to the bar food. The Truffled Fries are a fun and interesting combination with pickled onions on top. The Campfire Cookie is nice way to end. You can’t not love burning your tongue on a chocolate chip cookie that’s still cooking when you take your first bite… Maybe I should only order things in skillets from now on… I love the bartenders, I love the ambiance, and I love the shuffleboard out back. I have a good time every time I go, and I do think Ollie’s has potential. But I would like to see it applied to more of the menu.

If you’re ever in Malibu and you wanna eat casual, then I highly recommend Ollie’s. I went here with my parents and everything was spot on, from the service to the food. Speaking of food, I ordered the Drunken Mac and Cheese($ 15 w/pork belly and jalapeños; $ 10 w/o) and had the Dive Burger($ 16) as my entrée. I have been on a mission to try different kinds of burgers and the Dive Burger was AMAZING. What made it so great was that the beef patty was accompanied with fig jam, caramelized onions, duck confit, arugula, and Swiss cheese.

Ah-mazing! One of my favorite places I ate at during my time in California. We got here for lunch before noon and were two of the few patrons in the restaurant. I bet this place picks up way more in the afternoon/evening. We decided to sit outside and they turned on the heaters for us. And, we received that same level of stellar service throughout our whole time here– full water glasses, never rushed, and constantly friendly wait staff. I had the kale berry salad and added chicken to it. It was fantastic! Tons fresh kale, raspberries, blackberries, and strawberries. Plus goat cheese and one of the best dressings I’ve ever had on a salad! Even if you’re not digging a salad, everything on their menu looked awesome. I’ll definitely be back here if I’m ever in the area again.

By far my favorite place to eat in Malibu. It’s not your typical hoity-toity Malibu restaurant – you get what you pay for. There’s a full bar, a good vibe, and really friendly service. I’ve been here at least a dozen times. The menu has a lot of unique dishes on it, so it’s hard to get tired of this place. Getting straight to my favorites… 1) The Pork Belly Mac n’ Cheese(Drunken Mac)(~$ 15.00 w/the pork belly): very tasty. I’ve made it a point to order this every time. The pork belly is crispy and flavorful without being too fatty. It’s a good size appetizer if you want to split one, but I typically order one for myself along with the entrée because it’s that good. 2) Jalapeño Salmon Poppers($ 8.00): really unique, and incredibly flavorful. Get this if you like salmon. It’s very crispy and served with some good sauces and aioli. Again, a fun appetizer to split if you’re on a date – it’s neither fishy nor too spicy. 3) Baja Style Cod Tacos($ 11.00): crispy, flavorful, and satisfying. It’s also a visually appealing dish with the picked red onions, which, if you’ve never had them, are surprisingly sweet and tasty when paired with the savory fish. The beers on tap are also good. I’ve had lots of IPAs there and haven’t been disappointed. Regarding the service, the waitresses are friendly and the food comes out quickly. I’ve never had to wait more than five minutes for the appetizers to come out. The staff is also really personable, which makes the experience fun. Whether you’re a local or tourist, this place should be on your list.

Came with the kid and had a pretty good experience. Decent beer on tap, nice bar setting. Came during an NFL game, didn’t appear to have any package, 2 t.v.s Tried the Spanish octopus which was decent, nothing special, but pretty good. Would definitely try again. Also had the ceviche, which was nice, a little spicy for the kid even without jalapenos.

2.5 stars. The service was good but the food were not great and some were horrible. There’s not many gastropubs or even great restaurants in Malibu so it explains the high ratings for a mediocre place like this. The menu looks good but the food could have been better. The Mac and Cheese was just warm to room temperature. The tacos I ordered must have been sitting out for awhile because the corn tortillas kept on breaking when I tried to pick it up. I ended up using a fork and knife and ate what I could. I got the Chicken tacos which supposed to have a bbq flavor. It was just shredded chicken served in a bbq type of sauce. Nothing about this taco was appetizing. As for the Mac and Cheese, it was a little bland. The pork belly and jalapeño addition made it better. The rest of the people at our table were not enjoying their dish so I will not go here again.

We stopped here for lunch and sat at the bar since all of the inside tables were full. The outdoor area is enclosed and shady so it would be a nice place to sit except on very hot days which this was. Although the bartender was very busy it was clear she knew what she was doing. She was very efficient, friendly, and knowledgeable about the food and the restaurant. I asked her about the restaurant name since I thought it was called Duck Dive. Apparently there is another restaurant called Duck Dive someplace(not related) and they didn’t like the fact that the name was being used in Malibu so the Malibu restaurant became Ollie’s Duck and Dive. The menu is eclectic and has a big variety of options. We started with the Spiked Edamame(spicy but not hot) which were very good. We then tried a couple of the bowls — Mary’s and Athena. They were both good. They were heavy on the rice, lettuce and meat and a too light on the other bowl ingredients but still tasty. I would also order the dressing on the side next time — too heavy for my taste. The man sitting next to us at the bar raved about the Brussels and Belly and he gave us a taste when he got his order. Yum! I would order that next time as a shared starter(very rich). We ended with The Crooked Werthers(nice name for salted caramel pot du crème — creamy and rich but needs more chocolate pretzels for dipping). All weekend my husband kept saying he wants to go back to try some other menu items so I’m sure we will be back on our next trip to Malibu.
They have entertainment here on some nights. The place is not very big so it must get pretty crowded but I can imagine it’s a popular place for the locals.

The staff member who waited on us was amazing! The drunken mac was incredible with rich multi-layered flavors, amplified by pork belly and jalapenos. The burgers were less than stellar. My friend said Ollie’s used to serve freshly made ground beef at some point. But it tasted like frozen patties. The atmosphere is cool and laid back. I think a lot of locals graze here.

God damn. Pork belly Mac and cheese. Steak sandwich. Beer. Malibu. This isn’t even fair. Let’s start with the staff. Seriously like 3 people came over and asked how we’re doing and if we needed anything. That was so cool and unexpected. Very helpful and funny servers. Now the food: The pork belly Mac was fantastic. The meat fell apart and the crumbly stuff on the Mac was shmamazing. I wish the jalapeños gave more of a kick though. The steak sandwich. The pickled onions and horseradish blended so well with the sandwich. The steak was top notch too. Smokey flavor, nice thin strip of meat, juicy. Exactly what I wanted. The truffle fries were light on the cheese, but the flavor exploded all over every fry. Freakin good. I’m so glad I came to Ollie’s. No regrets, planning our next trip there as I type.

Ollie’s Duck & Dive Gastropub(as it is now called) is great. It is a small place by Lily’s and Café Organicito in North Malibu. It is a good place to spot a celeb or two. I got the skirt steak with brocoli and eggplant and it was the best. The eggplant as a side is a must get! The burger has a sour house bbq sauce so get it on the side because it was 50⁄50 at our table if people liked it. They have a kids menu and crayons which is surprising. I also ordered two deserts — the brownie in the cast iron skillet was one of the best brownie with ice cream desserts I have ever had. The pot du crème was salted carmel and was way salty — I didn’t really like that. I also thought it should have come with more pretzels. There is a patio with a hand shuffleboard court. I would def come here again. I love everything in this shopping center!!!
