Mixed results for a third visit to the Rumbleseat Grill. My flounder po boy was good except for a stale roll. Caesar salad was again very good. The burger was over cooked and dry but the side salad was again very good. The crab soup was very good as were the fried green beans and asparagus appetizer. The roast beef sandwich served hot with fries was really good but the best part was the berry cobbler… it is made there and served with ice cream and homemade whipped cream… excellent! As with a lot of places the attention to details to make sure all dishes come out correctly and as ordered is needed to make this a great place.

I don’t ever give one star however nothing was good here. I started out by bringing a bottle wine in which they said was against the ABC law. I ordered a garden salad which was pretty stale in itself and then followed that with fried flounder. The flounder was severely over cook and had the characteristics of a scorched french fry.

Overpriced middle of the road food. Chicken tenders burned, baked spaghetti was around $ 12 – 13 for small portion. When a band is there its too loud to speak in whole restaurant. Will most likely not be around much longer, the building seems to be cursed for restaurants.

Nice atmosphere, tried one of the new items added to the menu — tuna bites — delicious! Cream of crab bisque had the perfect amount of sherry… Would love to try the braised short ribs or salmon the next time we stop. Conveniently located off the Manakin Sabot exit.

Just stopped here for a quick dinner. Clean and easy to access with great bar area and music several times a week. Pickle chips were great and cream of crab soup was outstanding. Will be back.

What a great local find! Very clean, new chef, a must to try! I had the roasted tomato salad with chix which was very tasty. The rest of my group got burgers with fries. The fries were some of the best we have ever had, cooked in beer batter, so yummy! The restaurant participates in the Kids Dine Free program which is great too. We will be back and will try to save room for dessert next time as the pies looked awesome!

Stopped by this place for the first time on a Friday night. Place is a little tricky to find, hidden away from Broad Street a bit… near Sunset Grill and behind Enzo’s. I was there to see a band perform and decided to order a late dinner too. Service is friendly, but slow… at least it was on this busy Friday night. Had the buffalo wings($ 7) and a side order of «loaded» mashed potatoes($ 3.50). The wings were hot/spicy and somewhat greasy. The mashed potatoes were served room temperature… even the toppings weren’t melted. I was going to complain about the cold potatoes, but it took so long to get a bartender’s attention, I decided just to eat some of it and leave the rest. This is a cute little place to come hear a band perform. Feels kinda«folksy»… almost like being in a General Store out in the middle of nowhere. Dance floor is tiny… only enough room for maybe 4 couples. Based on my experience, I wouldn’t be anxious to order dinner again… at least not late at night. They have several TVs around the bar showing sports… even while bands perform.

Got the Sloppy Joe with homemade applesauce as a side. Both were amazing.

Thought we would try this based on some of the reviews. I ordered the country fried steak and was very disappointed. Very bland with little to no flavor. I had to kill it with salt to try to bring some life back to it. My son had one of the burgers. He liked that and didn’t leave much behind. I would be willing to try this one more time and try something different. The service was decent. I did find the noise level a little loud in restaurant.

This restaurant is just 5 minutes away from Short Pump, so if you’d like to escape from the mall as soon as possible, but are hungry and in need of some food, this is the place for you. The food does not come out quickly, so be prepared to relax a bit in this charming place. The fried green tomatoes were very tasty. The sandwiches we had were good, not great. The waitresses were very friendly. The soda was flat – blech.

We had reservations for Saturday night at 6:30 and a band was going to play at 7p. We had to wait 2 ½ hours for food and the waitress never filled our drinks and you had to go to the bar to settle your check. I WILL never go back again. The food was OK … nothing to write home about but the service was beyond poor.

If you haven’t ventured to the«extreme» West End to go to the RumbleSeat, you MUST! What a great little find! Great American food in a lovely automotive chic :-) atmosphere at great prices. In case you don’t know, a rumble seat is that extra fold-out back seat(instead of a trunk) in old cars. That’s where the automotive chic theme comes from. Old gas pumps, gas station signs, license plates, hubcaps and so forth adorn the space. If it sounds gross, it’s not. Everything is sparkling clean. It’s a spacious place, and I’d guess that they hold(or would hold) private parties there, too. It’s a really huge space. Don’t be in a hurry. Service isn’t slow, but it certainly isn’t rushed. Just sit back and enjoy a good meal. The crabcakes were good(you can actually see and taste the crab), the Caesar salad was fresh and delicious, the green beans were whole and cooked perfectly al dente, and the chocolate chess pie was incredibly delicious(but oh so rich that you only need a bite or two to be satisfied). This is Richmond’s(Manakin Sabot’s) best kept secret. And my new hideout! Happy Hour 2 – 7 p.m. and great deals!

This spot has hosted many a restaurant, it’s located just a short southbound drive along Ashland Rd. from the Rockville exit of I-64, don’t go on Monday because like many a Goochland restaurant they’re closed. My wife perused the menu from the vestibule and was somewhat hesitant to go in, I offered to go somewhere else but I think just to spite me she continued inside. She’s not a big fan of eating American food outside the home and we have had some funky meals at other businesses in this location. Little did she know that she would become a fan of Rumble Seat Grill. This is a vast establishment but the servers cover it well. We were greeted in a friendly manner and quite promptly. Décor is decidedly automotive, lights, signage and model cars are everywhere. Starters, sliders, soups, sandwiches, burgers and hot dogs all have interesting names, think transportation; they’re available throughout lunch and dinner. Dinner Salads with Salmon or Steak are available. Steaks, chicken, BBQ, crab cakes, tilapia and salmon comprise the Rumble Seat entrees a list of Southern favorites include Homemade Meatloaf, Pot Roast, Country Fried Steak, Chicken Pot Pie and Southern Fried Catfish both entrée sets are available only after 4PM. All the selections come with one or two sides. House Salad, Caesar Salad, Sweet Potato Casserole, Green Beans, Succotash, Mac n Cheese, French Fries, Cole Slaw, Mashed Potatoes(loaded $.99 more) and Baked Apples are available. This is a kid friendly place as they include a kid’s menu too. As we arrived during the evening, we focused upon the Rumble Seat entrees and the list of Southern favorites. For some reason we both selected the crab cakes, I selected a salad and green beans for my side, my wife chose mac n cheese and something else that I cannot remember. My house salad was cold and refreshing, solidly excellent. Our crab cakes and sides arrived and I was very pleasantly surprised by the green beans. So many places just heat them up from a can but these beans were short, thin, green, spiced little pieces of heaven topped with a pepper slice. What a joy, and truly emblematic of the quality and freshness of the food served here. The crab cakes were perfectly done, redolent of the shell fish, moist and flavorful. My wife’s mac n cheese was of the same quality as the rest of the food, very good. What an excellent repast! Desserts are made on the premises and I can attest to the fine flavor and texture of their sweet potato pie. I’m looking forward to returning to this fine establishment often. If you are traveling through Central Virginia this establishment’s proximity to the interstate is an added plus. Get away from the boring chain restaurants and stop here, you won;t be disappointed.
