This is probably my favorite diner in the area. From the unique décor, to the friendly waitstaff, to the delicious food, there isn’t much more I could ask for. Every time I have gone I am impressed by how quick and efficient everything is, and by how reasonable the prices are. More than just food, it is nice to be in a place with so many regulars, and such a friendly feel. Overall, it is worth the trip for such an authentic diner experience.

I haven’t been here in years. It’s not that I didn’t like the place I just didn’t stop by. Breakfast was as good and filling as I remember. Great place for good food.

This was our first visit here, drove 30 minutes per recommendation from a friend. Food is fresh, very generous. Coffee is especially good. Menu offers expected breakfast and non-breakfast favorites, plus some specials. Breakfast is served all day! Prices are reasonable with bottomless cup of coffee included! Service is fast, efficient, accurate & friendly. Restaurant is very clean with quaint«country barn» décor, despite obviously aged building. Roomier than many diners. They are open 24 hours from 5am Thursday to 8pm Sunday. I can definitely see us coming here for some late night diner fare.

The Red Barn Diner in Manchester is my favorite diner near my house. Simple, great prices. Started as a 1930’s dining car from Worcester, MA. Anyways, I was looking at old pictures and found a dish my grandmother used to make called«Hole in Bread» — it’s pretty simple. You make a hole in the center of toast and fry an egg in the middle. When I went to the waitress with the picture — she didn’t even flinch. Came back with it expertly prepared.(This wasn’t on their menu). Taking a special request like that and owning it went above and beyond. Now I’m going to start going everywhere and asking for it! But back to the restaurant — it’s a no frills diner kinda place. Great service and a friendly staff — and I was kinda surprised it’s not cash only — they do take cards. It’s an older crowd here vs. The Red Arrow. They were socializing taking about vision problems lol.

Just an ordinary diner with ordinary people. I do love the location of this Diner. It’s a very quiet diner, on one of the busier streets in the city. I decided to go in and was able to find a seat right away. I think there was only two other people there including one cook. It is really small in there but its not always busy either. I always wanted to come here since I’m always passing by. The place was called Shirley D’s for years but has since changed there name to The Red Barn. So this is my first visit ever and the lady took my order after a couple minutes, very friendly by the way as I recall. This was 3 years ago so my memory is a little blurry. I know I ordered the Rodeo burger which had BBQ sauce and some onion rings on top with cheese. I remember getting some fries on the side and a pickle. I also ordered a soft drink. I remember getting a desert but don’t remember which one LoL. No complaints that I can remember. I don’t think they have a big menu but like I said it’s been a while. I got the feeling while being in there that I was far from home. I would come here to eat again. I can’t remember if they had some music going or not. But check it out yourself and see what I mean. Be warned though it is different. Don’t expect anything like that other Diner in Manchester because they are totally two different places. Chow.

When we stopped here we had no idea what to expect, but got a pleasant surprise! The building itself is pretty tiny and in a kind of weird location, but don’t judge it by that. The service was great and the food came out quick, despite them being pretty busy. Between the 4 people in our party all of the food was delicious! The french fries are homemade, they remind me of the type you get at a fair. So good! The chicken tenders were good and they give you a ton! I was very impressed by this place, and will definitely be going back when I’m in Manchester again.

Decent food. Short waiting. Nice people that smile and say hi to all. Endless cup of coffee. Bacon could be a little less crispy. Friendly and nice. The wait staff are great but undoubtedly under paid. If they receive 20% tips at all it is a pittance on an $ 8.00 to $ 10.00 bill. The wait staff deserve better.

I came in here after a shift in the ER at the Elliot, a little late night snack before bed. A homeless man came in and asked if they had any food that they were going to throw away. The waitress ordered him a grill cheese gave him a soda, no questions asked. This is the actions you read about, and actions that make you realize, the world isn’t totally lost. As far as the food, it is going to be great. No matter what!

Many of my friends talked about how great this place was even better then the purple finch and I can tell you it is that good. And they have more selections that more people actually recognize. They have the good ol’ classics, the stuff you don’t go out on a limb to try and then realize you wish you hadn’t. Also there are a variety of people that frequent this place it doesn’t make you feel like your in an elderly home or like you are in the diner that the drunk kids go to after their club closes. They have quick service and friendly staff, sometimes,(this is what brought my rating down) I had a really nice and accomadating waitress late at night who let me sample the different soups before I made my choice and also was helpful in selecting some items for my lactose intolerance. And this was the time of night where most servers would not want to be working and you could tell she obviously wasn’t thrilled to be there, as no one would be at that time, but she did her best to lighten the mood and keep a friendly atmosphere. — breakfast in the early morning however the service I got was something else. I admit having to wait on someone with a bunch of food allergies is probably a bit annoying especially at a busy time but still it’s best not to make the customer feel dumb with smartass answers … Its not funny that you suggest you can make me a grilled cheese sandwich without cheese. Or cream or chicken soup without cream. And various other things this girl suggested. I was actually looking for intelligent suggestions not your dumbassery. But maybe this was just my bad luck. Still the food is good and the atmosphere is inviting.

It’s a diner. They make diner food. On the weekend, they’re open 24 hours. In short, they serve to the niche market called«drunk food», and they serve it well. The food isn’t spectacular, but are you really wandering around at 3am looking for spectacular food? Nope, you’re looking for cheap, decent, easily available food, and that’s exactly what this place is. I was hesitant to write this review, to be very honest. Most people in search of drunk food tend to head to the Red Arrow, which is not a bad choice, but is often very busy. I’ve never had a wait at The Red Barn, my experiences have all been decent.

Breakfast tour brought us here, Food was awesome, hot and fast and the service was great. Dropped a star because the inside is pretty tight, awkward and a little trashy looking. Close your eyes and you’re good!

My wife and I went here for brunch just because it looked small and out of the way. The food wasn’t bad. Average for a small diner. The buttermilk pancakes and the Vermont cheesy fries were the best things we had. The chocolate milk was also very good. All in all, a good place to go. They are open 24hrs Thursday– Sunday which is a plus.

I have been there three times and always something was not right. Rude service, cook’s facial hair in the food. It’s a good candidate for 1 star.

I walked down from my hotel this morning, looking for something a bit more interesting than your typical Dunkin Donuts sandwich(don’t get me wrong, I love my Dunkin). The front desk last night had mentioned a diner so I headed this way. If you are looking for a bone-deep honest diner this is the spot. Hot, endless coffee, friendly service, and eggs just the way you want them. If you are looking for pretense or kitsch, keep driving. The linoleum tile is a little the worse for wear and the foot-shelf around the counter is unfinished wood with plenty of dirt and scuffs. But the hash browns were crispy and the omelette fresh and wonderful. I will definitely be back when I am next in town.

i stopped by for breakfast and dinner here last week. Their breakfast is typical, everything you can imagine. Personally, I loved their blueberry pancakes! I had a shepherd’s pie for dinner which wasn’t all that great, a little bland but it won’t deter me from coming back next time I’m in town. I also had their apple pie which tasted homemade. the pie crust was a little like the crust on a pizza which i thought was kinda amusing. I like supporting neighborhood businesses instead of those franchise places like ihop, applebee’s, etc.. . So I’ll definitely be back.

This diner under the name Shirley D’s(The Red Barn Diner) has been in business for over 20 years serving good breakfasts and lunches at very reasonable prices(under $ 10). This diner used to have a smoker-friendly atmosphere until the NH smoking ban took effect recently. Under new ownership(June 2007), this diner opens at 5:00AM for breakfast. Popular with regulars, this place has the basic old-time diner atmosphere with lunch counter seating and table seating. The ceiling is low in some parts, so tall folks should watch their head. Grab a Union Leader or a Hippo to read with the meal! The menu offers typical diner fare including breakfast(served all day): egg dishes, omelettes, pancakes, French toast, hash, pan fries, muffins, & beans and lunch items include sandwiches, subs, soups, comfort dishes(meatloaf, open faced sandwiches, mashed potatoes), and desserts(pies, whoopie pies, & ice cream). Daily specials are posted. The Clam Chowder is HOMEMADE and not from a can. Specials are offered including All You Can Eat Spaghetti & Meatballs($ 5.99) on Wednesdays and Haddock & Fries($ 8.95) on Fridays. Now smoke-free, I decided to stop here for lunch, but had breakfast instead. As soon as I walked in and sat myself at the lunch counter, I was offered hot coffee. I ordered a Western Omelette($ 6.45), which included pan fries, buttered toast, and bottomless coffee. The omelette had ham, peppers, & cheese which was folded nicely and clean, not greasy. The pan fries(small sliced potato chunks) were light and had very minimal grease. The service at the lunch counter was quick and good including refills on coffee. This place gets an overall 3.5STARS, rounding up. PARKING: Off street along south side of diner. OPEN24HOURS: Thurs-Sat CREDITCARDS: Accepted
