Absolutely love this place. Would eat here every Sunday and don’t get me started on that blueberry muffin.

It is now closed in this location! So sad! New place is just ok but way overpriced! To expensive for what I got in return!

Beware! Heard so many good things about this place, but when we went this morning, it was all locked up. A few other couples were also there. Someone driving by said they closed down. ??? No indication or sign though.

Disappointed. Came here this morning(Sunday 6⁄21) at 9:30. They were closed, with no explanation. The two other couples trying to get in were also very surprised.

Unfortunately we’ve found the food here kind of «hit and miss.» Sometimes it fires on all cylinders, sometimes not. When it’s good, it can certainly be very good, but the lack of reliability makes a disappointing visit all the worse.” The service has always been good enough, but when your omelet arrives cold or your hash browns are burnt, service doesn’t make up for that. We’ll keep trying. Like I said, when the food’s good it’s very good. Fingers crossed for our next visit.

Yum! Came here for breakfast one day, and the restaurant itself is very charming. The décor is very cozy and definitely family friendly. Service is great, all of the staff that we encountered were sweet and helpful. The food was delicious — we ordered a plate of biscuits and blackberry jam to share, and then I ordered a southwestern style omelet. Everything was great, timely, and it’s now a favorite brunch spot.

My wife and I went to this restaurant we were extremely disappointed. I ordered the pancakes and they were extremely doughy and just plain bad! My wife ordered the eggs Benedict, and it too was very average for the price we paid. They should really lower the prices for the quality of food they provide. We will Definately not return!

This is a great place for breakfast. It’s just the prettiest little cottage house in the very pretty Mandeville, LA. They are open Sunday through Saturday 7:30am to 2pm for breakfast, brunch and lunch. We arrived around 10am and had maybe a 5 minute wait. It was packed with people outside waiting to get in when we left around 11am. Parking is on a tiny street or in a tiny lot across the street. This area is very busy on the weekends, so the earlier you go the better. My boyfriend had The Works Omelet that had sausage, bacon, mushrooms, onions and cheese in it. He said it was delicious. It looked it! It was served with a side order of country fried potatos, a slice of melon and orange. I had the Crabcakes Cavallo, an outstanding eggs benedict dish… two perfectly poached eggs on top of two english muffins, topped with two delicious crabcakes and an andouille hollandaise sauce, some red bell pepper and green onion. Also served with the same sides of potatos and fruit. I highly recommend this dish! It was so delicious. We also shared a big bowl of blackberry grits. Never heard of this combination before but it was pretty good. There were some other wonderful items on the menu that caught my eye such as the Lemon Ricotta pancakes, sweet potato pancakes, Stuffed French toast, Huevos Rancheros, Shrimp and grits, Banana’s Foster, Before the tip, it was $ 37 for both of us. The coffee served is Community Coffee, which I thought was mild and very good. We didn’t find the service to be bad nor the wait long. Our server didn’t hover over us. My only complaint was I had to season my food, which I almost never have to do but so what… it was still amazing and the portions were generous. Worth the money and such a pretty little place, we will be back.

The omelets are delicious as usual. A little disappointed in the service, coffee was not flowing freely. The sausage patty my wife ordered tasted freezer burned and had a rancid flavor. My daughters caramel cinnamon roll was stale. Brought this to the attention of the owner hope she takes my concern and makes improvements

Doesn’t matter how good the food is if the service is bad. The host are condescending and sometimes even plain rude.

Broken Egg is a great place to have breakfast. Always very busy but service has always been good and kitchen does a great job getting food out in a timely manner. Food is great, love the omelets. My husband and I always split one and ask for split plates so we each get sides.

I’ve come plenty of times. Restaurant in a little cute house. The service could improve, a bit slow and not so nice. Although, the servers are very informative about the menu. Besides the service, food is amazing!!! I haven’t disliked anything that I’ve tried.

Ok, probably the best place for breakfast on the north shore. The omelets are awesome but the black berry grits are amazing. I will be back!

Horrible, rude staff! We waited to be seated for an hour, which we were fine with, a group of us go to breakfast every Saturday and wherever we go we always have to wait. We had 12 people but when they were ready to seat us, only 11 of us were present. They refused to seat us even though he was less than 5 minutes away. They had already gotten the table ready and everything. The worst part was their attitude towards us. One of the members of our party was pregnant so finally someone came out and brought her a biscuit but it was not done nicely to say the least. We left and went to Liz’s where they sat us all within five minutes. We will never be going here again! Not even worth a one star rating.

The perfect after-church Sunday brunch spot to take my 2 houseguests from out-of-town. There was only a 15 minute wait, so we decided to enjoy a mimosa on the front porch before being seated. Our server was attentive and pleasant. Although everything on the menu looked fantastic, we decided on the special of the day(grilled chicken with waffle), fruit plate, biscuits and gravy, an omelet, and cheese grits. Everything was fresh and delicious. Highly recommended for a relaxed breakfast or brunch.

The Broken Egg is a very popular breakfast restaurant in Old Mandeville. I do not understand why it is so popular as it seems to fail in all categories. In most cases the food is sub par and always overpriced. The service is extremely lacking and the wait is often painfully long. The one area where The Broken Egg succeeds is the building itself. Located inside of an old house, there is tons of character in this building. The dining area are spaced out with several tables in each room. The one downfall to that setup is the limited waiting area inside. Because the restaurant is so popular, plan to wait outside for long periods of time. When the weather is not nice, you will freeze or sweat. I have been on occasion where there was no wait, but that is definitely not the norm. The food is very expensive and usually not very good. The one item I have actually enjoyed is the Lafitte’s tortilla which is a large breakfast burrito. Most other items are bland or over cooked. A good example is the special I had today. For the whopping sum of $ 14.99 I had a pot roast beef po boy with a side of home style potatoes. The pot roast was dry and flavorless despite being soaked in gravy. Because there was so much gravy, the bread was soggy and the only way to eat it was with a fork. The potatoes had an odd taste that seemed like they were over salted, but I didn’t see any salt on them. Another example is the shrimp and grits. Their version lacks the depth of flavor I would expect from a Louisiana restaurant. It seemed like a dish that was made by someone who never cooked Louisiana cuisine. I realize shrimp and grits are not a Louisiana invention, but all cooks here should be able to make good grits and good shrimp. On nearly all of my visits here, the service has been very poor. The norm seems to be your server greeting you and taking your drink order. She will deliver your drinks, but it is likely you won’t see her again until it’s time for the bill. The food runners are somewhat helpful of requests when they deliver your meal, but I like dealing with my server. Today she never brought more water when I asked and never offered to refill my coffee. For the prices they charge, I expect much more. I realize I am in the minority since the place is packed every day, but I really don’t enjoy coming here.

This is our spot for my boyfriend & I. We adore this place and the southern hospitality it offers. It looks like a cottage and feels like mama’s home cookin with the family when you’re inside. The bloody mary’s are decorative and delish! We ordered the baked brie once too and was blown away by its goodness. For breakfast, we always get the sweet potato pancakes and share them! I now know what heaven may be like! ;) The biscuits & gravy were so so and we probably won’t order those again. Not that they were bad, but nothing extra special either. Cheese grits are good but huge for a side item! We always come here and will continue to do so! You must try this place! So good & you will not leave hungry! Yumo!

I thought I would try this place after hearing great things about it from a few different people.(and because Liz’s Where Y’ at Diner was so packed I couldn’t get a parking spot) The Broken Egg was also pretty busy but not really bad. I had to wait a few minutes to be seated but nothing serious. After looking at the menu I thought I was going to have to leave and go to the bank and take out a loan to buy breakfast. They are surely proud of their food here because it’s very pricey and way to pricey for breakfast. My food was brought to me pretty quickly and looked pretty good. Once I started eating it was a different story. The country potatoes were really good but things went downhill fast from there. The sausage tasted like it was spoiled. I’ve never tasted sausage quite like it. I couldn’t even finish my biscuits and gravy which is very rare. The gravy had a strange taste to it. I don’t know how to explain it really. It was sweet and had a spoiled taste to it as well. I’ve never tasted gravy like it. I ordered my eggs over medium but they were not even over easy. I’ve never seen eggs so runny. The breakfast was really poor, easily the worst I’ve ever had and Way too pricey for what you get. I will say that my waitress was very friendly and was working hard.
