Michelle’s Golden Brown Breads

Just picked up a loaf of Apple Spice Bread for 8.50 at the Farmer’s Market in Concord today.
What I loved about the bread was that it was moist, but not chewy. Their were hints of apple, but it wasn’t overpowering. It wasn’t a spice-​dominated bread. The flavors were perfect and just heavenly. You could tell they know how to bake extremely well to make both flavors flow together so well.
What I loved about the packaging was that in large letters you were told what was in the loaf and the ingredients are just basic ingredients. I love knowing what I’m going to get before I opened it. If you have nut allergies or any other food allergies, this will let you know straight away what’s in it.
What I loved about the customer service was how friendly the whole family was. I was greeted by two family members, one was extraordinarily helpful and had a warm, friendly vibe. The other was very grateful and happy. It made the experience great and I would happily come back.
What I did not love was the price. I’m all for supporting local businesses, but $ 8.50 for a 2lb loaf just seems a bit… high? Although for the quality I guess the price works, btu I can’t imagine myself buying 2 loaves of bread for almost $ 20. Can you?

Delicious! We brought home a loaf of strawberry mango bread and peach bread and it tastes just like something that my grandmother would make from scratch. The ingredients are all natural and the bread is light and fresh.

Michelle’s i’ve seen around. paying $ 8.5 for a loaf of bread was unthinkable. the brownie sample wasn’t tasty/​sweet. grabbed a cookie by default.

I found their bread at the Menlo Park VA — they have a table in front of Willow Clinic on Thursday afternoons.
The breads aren’t overly sweet, and they even have some with Splenda (a little looser in texture). Personal favorites include persimmon-​banana and peanut butter-​chocolate chip-​banana. The breads are very moist, but I think there’s a lot of oil because the oil soaked through the plastic wrap to stain the brown paper bag that was holding them.
Loaves are $ 8.50 each, which is more than I typically pay for a loaf, but if you get 3, they’ll cut it down to $ 20 total. That said, the loaves are larger than typical ones, and they’re very solid.
For me, it’s definitely conveniently located. Be careful driving around the Menlo Park VA campus — they’re strict on the 15mph speed limit and stop signs!

The store is in awful shape. It just looks like the owners just don’t care. I should have known then it wasn’t going to be a good experience. The older gentleman is very nice. So, I really wanted to like their product. I went in there for their Philly Cheese Steak and ordered. Then I tried a couple of their cookies. It tasted like a greasy week old cookie, it was awful. You would think if they are going to charge $ 2.50 a cookie, it would at least be fresh!
Their banner says their Philly comes with mushrooms, bell peppers and onions. But when I bit into the sandwich it was hot as hell. It had some sort of hot peppers in it. My stomach can’t handle hot peppers, they should ask if you want it instead of assuming you like hot peppers.
So, for me, the cookies and sandwich weren’t edible. What a waste of money.
When you’re in the food industry as I have been, in order to make it successful, first you have to know how to bake, cook or both. You also have to put your heart and soul into the food. And for God’s sake, do something about making the bakery a little more pleasing to the eyes.
In the end, Michelle, at least put some effort into your product if you can’t put your heart and soul into it!

YIKES! What a total disappointment! I have never gone on line to write a negative review, instead always thinking it was better to make the effort to point out the positives but this place deserves my first bad rating! The philly cheese steak sandwich was expensive, took forever to get my order (I was the only customer) and when I got home, I found that it was so painfully salty, I ended up throwing it away. I like some salt but it actually made the inside of my mouth pucker! Then I opened the half loaf of bread I bought only to be DISGUSTED when I saw that it was moldy! I took back the banana bread and the lady gave me a loaf of sweet potato without so much as an, «I’m sorry». I got it home and found it to be so dry and crumbly it went in the trash with the sandwich. It kills me to waste food and money in this economy but it was a lesson learned and I will NEVER go back. Safe your money and your taste buds.

Tried the Apricot bread at the Fremont Kaiser Farmer’s Market. It was good. What I really wanted, though, was a taste of their Sweet Potato bread. They didn’t have enough though, for samples — by the time I got there, they were down to only 2 SP loaves (started with 50), so I bought one. Just opened it. YUMMY! Good with or without butter! Will go back for more!

I saw Michelle’s GOlden Brown Breads at the Jack London Farmer’s Market. I was skeptical when I saw the Gluten Free Chocolate Decadence Cake. How can you make a gluten free chocolate cake? When I got home and tasted it, it was delicious!!! If you have the pleasure of buying her products, I definitely suggest the Gluten Free Chocolate Decadence Cake.

The first time I had the philly it was bomb at the Manteca street fair. The second time, I went to the actualy bakery and it was bomb. I was really craving it today and I was totally turned off.
1) the Staff was completely inept and unprofessional. There were some thugs working there and did not make me feel at ease nor was I comfortable even eating there. Who wants to eat in a place when there are people who look like they belong in San Quentin and I am not talking guards either.
2) The counter girl– could not add 7.5 + 1 + 8 = 16.50. She needed a calculator…(this is a sign of where our school system is going)
3) At one point all the staff members were in the back screaming and messing around.
4) Two employees were in the front talking about how they are going to FRAUD the Employment Development Department to get unemployment.
So if you are expecting some sort of service… I wouldn’t hold your breath.
As for my sandwich– it sucked. It was like the first two dates were great and then the true colors came out. I hope that they find a better staff and make a more consistent sandwich.

Michelle’s bread is fresh and wholesome goodness, our family just loves it! The sweet potato bread is our favorite!

5stars for the breads and 3 for the Philly. And 5 stars for the owner. A very nice person

*Pear Bread: Good
*Strawberry Bread: Good
*Sweet Potatoe Pie: Good
*Chocolate Brownie: Awful. {5 of us tasted these brownies and we all concur: Tasted just like Flour & Chocolate Chips. They went right into the trash}
–lunch items–
*Turkey & Cheese Deli Sandwich: Just ok.
*Seasoned Fries: Terrible {They were undercooked so it was like tasting a potatoe drenched in oil with old bay or pappy’s seasoning on them.}
*Philly Cheesesteak: Michelle raved about their ‘Philly Cheesesteak Sandwich made by a true New Yorker” Yet it was the worst Philly Cheesesteak we ever tasted. Reason being: it was made with Ground Hamburger Meat. Luckily there was Bellpeppers and Peppercini’s in there for flavor but I was bummed out. Hamburger Meat when your taste buds are ready for a good Philly? Thumbs down!

I shop at their stall at the San Jose Kaiser Farmers’ Market. Every loaf I’ve bought has been delicious, and they are nice people. My favorite bread is the sweet potato. Pumpkin is usually my favorite kind of pie, but their sweet potato pie is the best pie I’ve ever had.

OOh, Michelle, I told you as soon as I read the label that your bread had everything my husband loves, except me, and I meant it!
We saw Michelle at the Vallejo Farmer’s Market on Saturday and stopped to see her display. And there I saw it, like a beacon in a storm, drawing me in. Pineapple Coconut Rum Bread. Wha’ts not to love.
All natural, fresh ingredients (flour, white sugar, brown sugar, soybean oil, baking power, baking soda, salt, pineapple, coconut, eggs, rum flavor). Ohh wheee, this is gonna be perfect with my breakfast!
