I have been going to Eagle’s Nest on and off throughout my entire life. With the exception of a couple of renovations after hurricane damage, this place hasn’t really changed at all in 28+ years. This is a good thing and it is also a bad thing. The hotel is perfectly nestled in the middle of the Marco Island’s premier Gulf of Mexico white sand beach. You’re literally right on the beach. This is not a full service hotel though. Most people who go here have some sort of timeshare situation worked out. If you’re looking for 5 star cabana service, stop reading now and look at Marriott or Marco Ocean Beach resort. This is the kind of place where you feel at home immediately upon checking in. The rooms are outdated, yes, but every single room has a view of the Gulf of Mexico offering each guest his/her own equal opportunity at serenity. The rooms are clean and well kept. Like I said, they are outdated. They probably haven’t changed or been updated in 20+ years. That is kind of the allure though. It is the family hotel that never changes. I am not giving Eagle’s Nest 4⁄5 stars because it doesn’t have room service. I’m not giving the extra star because it’s focused family retreats vs. luxury lifestyle. Eagle’s Nest sadly doesn’t get its last star because somethings NEED to be improved. For example, if the hotel updated its flimsy poorly made chaises outside on the pool deck, the area would already look 1000x better. I always thought if the right person came in here and renovated just the right areas, it could truly be an amazing place. Until then, I’d only book here if you’re trying to get away from the standard hotel stay.

After staying here for a week I can definitely say that the positives outweigh the negatives. Being a «bad news first» type of person, we’re going to start there. My biggest peeve was that you had to rent the beach chairs. They are obscenely priced; I think it was $ 110 for the week for two chairs. Our family of five only rented three and took turns. After the price of the rooms, this was just an absurd cost. My second peeve was the lack of food; Quinns was close enough, but sometimes we wanted to be super lazy. The last problem was the second bedroom. Our twin beds were incredibly uncomfortable and had the most dated linens with the wold’s flattest pillows. The TV was in the closet and ridiculously small. My sister and I watched movies on my laptop because the screen was actually bigger than the TV. There was no A for effort in this bedroom. And now for something completely different: The view was beautiful, the screened in porch enabled us to actually use it(other hotel guests complained about their inability; 10 points Eagle’s Nest), you can rent a huge selection of movies from the front desk for $ 1/night, central location let us drive anywhere quickly or walk when we wanted, staff was friendly, everything was always clean, the view was beautiful, we never had a problem parking, the full kitchen was nicely updated, free wifi(huge annoyance when that isn’t available), and my whole family absolutely loved it. Overall, we would definitely come back without hesitation. We just may consider spending $ 20 at a local store to pick up some beach chairs.

My family has been coming here for about 20 years and it is a very nice resort. There are some quirks about the place which prevent it from 5 stars, however. The elevators to the rooms in the tower are poor. Management should dedicate on elevator for even floors and one for the odd floors as that would seriously slows up the dismal service. Also they need to get rid of the«inner city» parking lot chain as it really makes the place feel second rate. As for the pool and beach … Reserving chairs with towels at the pool has taken on a life of it’s own and is quite bush league and to charge $ 110/week for a beach chair set up that is yanked from you between 4 and 5 depending on whether or not you appear to be using it is obscene! My family will keep coming since they own their weeks, but the place is sliding down a very slippery slope and is quickly becoming a disappointing value.

Every timeshare condo in the Eagle’s Nest faces the true-blue waters and shining white sand of the Gulf. Have your morning coffee on your screened-in lanai before heading down to the pool, hot tub, gym or the beach, just steps away. A fully stocked kitchen and Publix supermarket seconds away makes it easy to cook at home, and keep dining costs down, on your vacation. Two bedrooms and two bathrooms keeps the whole family happy… and yet more family can stay on the pull-out sofa bed, if you can stand it. If you have younger children, the Fun Bunch provides daily activities and a two-hour break for mom and dad to get a massage or slip off to Quinn’s next door for a piña colada. The Eagle’s Nest is well-run by Hilton Grand Vacations management, who keep up on maintenance and run weekly owner meetings. Marco Island is very nice in the winter… sitting on the beach with the sun warming your holiday-pale skin is the best feeling in the world.
