My husband and I have been to Marco Island several times but this was our first visit to Kirk’s. When we walked in, we were greeted by Kirk himself. When we mentioned we were from Cincinnati, Kirk changed the tv to the Reds baseball game without us asking. The food was excellent. We had an order of the chili cheese fries and each ordered a coney dog. Food was delicious!!! Kirk’s is now on our list of MUSTS when in Marco.

We’ve visited Kirk’s twice since we have moved to this area. Kirk will be sure to treat you right. He’s a really friendly guy that likes to get to know his customers. Both times we have eaten Kirks delight chili dogs, and they were delicious. They are so good we always end up eating two each. The fries and onion rings are great too. If you are really lucky Kirk will get up on stage and play a little music.

Today I was in Marco Island and FINALLY got into Kirks! If you are looking for the best hotdog around, this is the place! Not only are the hot dogs good, but so are the Gyros. The atmosphere is very laid-back island style. They also have a stage and rumor has it, Kirk gets up and sings often! Check them out! You will be happy you did! P

Enjoyed the Coney delight dog at Kirk’s today. I felt like I was in Detroit having an original. If your looking for a quick inexpensive lunch would highly recommend this place.

Just tried Kirk’s because of everyone’s good reviews. It was delicious! The gyro and hand cut fries are so good. Kirk is a friendly guy. Owns the place, serves your food and goes out of the way to make sure you feel welcome and get good service. Good food at a good price and friendly atmosphere. Thanks Kirk! We will come back!

This place is a real hidden gem. If you want fancy at a high price don’t go here. But if you want to have a truly excellent Coney dog, hand cut fries, and be served by the guy whose name is on the door then this is the place. Kirk personally served us and chatted about Michigan, Ohio, music and more! Off the beaten path and worth a try.

Vacationing on Marco Island I awoke from my nap one afternoon desiring a hot dog. After checking Unilocal,I identified Kirks Coney Island as the best place on the island to get a good hot dog. We made the drive and found the place. It’s definitely a dive bar, but with lots and lots of character. The theme is definitely Detroit related sports. Their specialty are Coney dogs. I had two of them and can only say that they are some of the best Coney Dogs I’ve ever eaten. Of course, there are plenty of other great things on the menu, as well.

We had a great time for dinner! It was so cool to see all the different items on the walls that represented the state of Michigan. They use a coney sauce from Michigan, along with some meats, and when available, Faygo pop. The owner, Kirk is really nice, tries to speak with everyone and works his butt off as server, host, bartender, and singer! The order of chili fries is big enough for two. The fries were the thick-cut ones and really tasty. My gyro was very plentiful, and the sauce Tzaztiki, was really good with shaved cucumber– one of my favorites! Bonus– they serve bottled beer & wine! One thing too– as long as people are there, Kirk will stay open with live entertainment. Fun to hear!

Straight out of Detroit and a Marco island frequenter, Kirk’s was home away from home. With a fantastic coney dog, hand cut fries, and the best burger on the island, Kirk’s is a MUST for Detroit born and everyone else too! The owner Kirk, greeted us the second we walked in and kept the friendly conversation going. Made all feel very welcome.

Having frequented the city of Detroit numerous times on business from 1982 – 2000 and having ended up in a downtown Coney Island at 2:00 a.m. with a cab waiting outside(meter running) on almost every visit, I hereby proclaim myself as The Non-Michigander Coney Island Hot Dog Expert of SW Florida.(apologies for the«run-on» sentence) *Please direct all CIHD questions to me. I read about Kirk’s in the Naples paper and allowed the appropriate amount of time to pass before I stormed down to Marco from North Naples for lunch… approximately 211 miles. I entered the address in my car’s GPS and arrived directly at the front door with just the smallest incident with a young boy on a rented bicycle from the adjoining shop(I will go into more detail in my review of Marco Island attorneys). The LMK and I entered Kirk’s and at first glance I knew we were at the right place — no Chili’s or Applebee’s here! We were warmly greeted by the owner, Kirk(no coincidence), and we took our preferred seats at the bar. I will not belabor this review any further… this is where you want to eat if you desire Coneys(and Gyros). Don’t think of going anywhere else(I can think of only one other place that serves the same fare) because THIS is the place. Of special note: I’ve mentioned in a previous review(Beefstro’s) if you’re going to serve french fries, one must serve hand-cut, fresh potatoes — NOTFROZENONES. I am happy to say Kirk’s complies with my decree! However, above all that is good with Kirk’s food, his genuine and sincere«Thanks for coming in!» rings true. I will return… watch out nine-year-old bike renters!!! I’m comin’ in hot!

Keep in mind this isn’t a fillet at the Chop House, this is a Coney Island, and it was great. Being a Detroit native, it reminded me of home. The coneys were like downtown and the fries were crispy on the outside and tender inside, plus Kirk was pleasant and took time to reminisce about Detroit and National Coney. I can’t wait to return to hear the entertainment.

We went to KCI after reading the Unilocal reviews, It always pains me to write an unfavorable review. After reading all of the other reviews — we must have gone on a bad day. Pros: –We actually met Kirk and he was very accommodating. –The place was easy to find Cons: –My gyro was WAY over-seasoned and also over cooked. –Fries were also over cooked –Wife’s blt was literally what I make, why would I go out? I’m not being mean, i’m being honest and our food was like eating at a friends house for both the good and bad reasons.

Kirk goes above and beyond to make his guests feel welcomed. I was travelling around FL from MI for vacation and happened to stumble across Kirk’s Coney Island. The MSU, Red Wings, and other MI décor definitely caught my eye as soon as I stepped through the door. The reminders of home were only outdone by Kirk’s welcoming, warm, and friendly reception. He’s a very down to earth guy, and goes out of his way to make sure you’re comfortable. And the food — of course the food was great — coney dogs made w National Chili Co. chili, MI beers in the cooler, and plenty more to make us weary travellers happy. I’d definitely recommend Kirk’s to anyone making a trip down to FL. Thanks again!

Driving around Marcos Island 2 days in from MICHIGAN. stumbled upon this hidden lil gem!!! I must say, I’m not a «Coney Island» person,(I’m from Cali), but HECKYES I would come back! The minute I walked to the door, a BIGOLSMILE grew across my face. An «ALLTHEBESTTHINGSMICHIGAN» mailbox right outside the entrance. Just a step through the door and Kirk didn’t hesitate to say«Hi» and be an awesome host. Right off the bat Michigan memorabilia caught my eye. Every wall is covered in it! Also TONS of Michigan State University items that will get that GOGREEN spirit charged. Kirks Coney Island reflects Kirk. Relaxed and laid back. He will hop on stage and play any tune you want to hear! Best part about Kirks Coney Island… FAYGO and OBERON on tap! If you don’t know what FAYGO is… get your butts down to KCI!!! Even if you are just stopping in to hear some live music or grab a drink… GETTHE Home Cut FRIES! Want to watch the game? Kirks is definitely the place to be.

Went there today for late lunch. Very laid back atmosphere which is a nice change. Marco is very wealthy … Which doesn’t end here — because then price point is high. He cldnt get away with those prices back home —- but that’s besides the point. Bartender/waitress was extremely friendly. And the food came out quick and delish. My daughter devoured her first coney dog. Literally. I got a hamburger and we split the chili cheese fries. All around good food. We will prob make another stop here before we leave. This is our kind of place!!! Nicely done Kirk.

Based on Unilocal reviews I took the family here last night for dinner. The owner is a super cool guy and will chat with every table. Small setting with a bar on one side, a stage with instruments, and tables all in between. The food is home made! Yes best burger on the island, it might be in my top 10 burgers of all time! Tacos were amazing, home cut french fries and potatoe chips. He has Bell’s beer on tap since he’s from Michigan. Plenty of tvs to watch the game that was on and also the owner got up on stage and asked what song anyone wanted to hear. Someone yelled out Bön Jovi and he went at it. I threw at him Zac Brown and we got to hear chicken fried! music was not to loud at all but perfect to enjoy a meal and some music. We will be back here for lunch before our vacation is over.
