Brought friends here– was so excited to have them experience this place– the food, service and singing Worse experience ever Won’t go back Bad service Food was terrible They sang only in another room– not where we were– even after I asked our server to be sure to let us know as I brought friends from out of town Never again

Interesting Trattoria in Venice. I am really giving a 3 star review for… one) the service here is awesome! two) the portion is huge! three) garlic knots! Other than that. i thought the cute ambiance is okay(could be nicer), parking ehh okay… but what do you expect in that area… and food? pretty decent. I ordered the short ribs and there were 4 pieces however, the flavor was just A-Ok…Everything just tastes like it was cooked in garlic and had salt and pepper on them. However, it is always worth a 2nd try.

Made reservations & we were seated right away. We ordered: Eggplant lasagna: not good, it’s already pre-cooked so you can’t adjust on the ingredients either Penne arrabbiata: standard pasta that you make at home Each table gets freshly made garlic knots(they refill your plate every 5 minutes) — that’s delish! In regards to food there wasn’t anything special about this place. The open ceiling atmosphere and service were great! 1 star for the food &2 stars for the ambiance & service Parking: GOODLUCK finding it! There is 2 hour street parking(if you can find it), parking right next to the beach is $ 18, or there are some lots that are $ 10. Get in the area well in advance of your reservation to give you ample time to find parking.

Oooooohhhh my lanta was this place good! Came here in a weds night around 730pm and the place was packed. They quoted us 15 – 25 minutes but we got a table around the 30 minute mark… No big deal. Wasn’t like we had to wait a few hours which is what I expected with the size of the crowd that was standing around the restaurant GARLICKNOTS!!! complementary and keep them coming please!!! Servers walk around with a big plate of garlic knots and they just plop them down on your plate if they see that you’re running low on them. They are crispy, buttery, and garlicky goodness. But be careful because you can fill up on them quite quickly. CAPRESE Sliced Fresh Mozzarella, Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Roma Tomato, and Sweet Basil Individual $ 13.00 Gargantuan $ 17.00 CALAMARIFRITTI Served with their Chef’s Special Marinara Sauce Individual $ 13.00 Gargantuan $ 17.00 MEDITERRANEANSALAD $ 15.00 Mixed Greens, Roasted Red Peppers, Red Onion, Artichoke Hearts, Sun Dried Tomatoes, Kalamata Olives and Goat Cheese, tossed in a Balsamic Vinaigrette Dressing FARFALLEGENOVESE $ 16.00 Bow-tie pasta tossed with roasted chicken breast, sun-dried tomatoes, and asparagus tips in a cream basil pesto sauce PAPPARDELLESHRIMPSUBLINGUINE $ 19.00 Delicious Wide Noodles with Shrimp, Portobello Mushrooms, Asparagus Tips, Fresh Roma Tomatoes and Shallots in Chef’s Brandied Lobster Cream Sauce CHICKENPARMIGIANA $ 19.00 Served with Spaghetti Marinara and Seasonal Vegetables. Parking– they have metered parking available in front of restaurant. But can be tough to find at times so opt to park in neighborhood and walk a few block to get you more hungry and help digest your food at the end of your meal Ambiance– very home-y feel. You’re sitting under an open sky and tables are quite close to one another so get to know your neighbors well. They have an honor system where there’s glasses on a table and wine that you help yourself to. During the night they pass around lyrics to «that’s Amore» and everyone sings together. *** everything we had is highly recommended. Prices are very reasonable and portion sizes aren’t skimped. Thank you to our server Roberth for an awesome night and for his amazing suggestions. We will def be back.

TLDR; This restaurant is a perfect place to go to for a date night or a casual dinner with friends. The ambiance and liveliness of the restaurant is a good setting for any occasion. Watch how many garlic rolls you eat or else you might end up regretting it. I definitely recommend the pappardelle pasta with boneless beef short ribs and the rigatoni al forno. My girlfriend and I came for dinner after visiting the Venice Canals nearby. We forgot to book reservations and were worried that the wait time would be killer but fortunately for us, it wasn’t. We were seated in about 20 minutes, which was pretty fast considering how busy it was. The servers here are excellent. They are very friendly and they know how to clearly explain dishes that you have questions on to help you with your choice for the night. I also like how they write their name with a crayon on the table sheet since it was made with some kind of paper. Right after you’re seated, they start you off with some AMAZING garlic rolls. These are seriously the best I’ve ever had. They come out fresh and hot with a server carrying a tray filled with a mountain of them. They go table by table and hand you some onto a middle plate just for the garlic rolls. The garlic rolls are crisp on the outside yet soft and fluffy on the inside. Each roll is glazed with olive oil with parsley and minced garlic. Each bite is a bite into garlic heaven. Be careful that you don’t over indulge because you might end up leaving with an untouched plate of pasta. I ordered the pappardelle pasta with boneless beef short ribs. It ended up being really yummy. The portion was big, there was plenty of meat, the flavor was there. Perfecto. The pappardelle pasta was cooked perfectly al dente. The short ribs were incredibly tender and soft. It soaked up the sauce and became very flavorful. However, I do think the sauce was a little light for my taste. There were some chopped asparagus and diced tomatoes in the dish as well which added a nice balance to such a hearty dish. I do wish the asparagus was cut a little bigger though. My girlfriend ordered the rigatoni al forno which was another recommendation from our server. That was also really delicious. It was quite heavy according to her but definitely worth it. Parking: If there’s no street parking, you can park at the beach parking at the end of street for $ 4.

Ambience is cute outdoor seatings. Excellent service. servers know their stuff. very social, quick, and a wide vocabulary to describe their menu items. food = garlic bread balls when its fresh *thumbs up* fried calamari — more calamari than the fried batter which is good —— a year later posting this… Sorry it’s an unfinished review. lol my boyfriend seems to love this place though, this is his to-go Italian restaurant when he was living in LA.

The garlic knots and the atmosphere make this place awesome, not so much the pasta. Pros: Very large servings. This is a great place to come to if you are in a large group as you can order gargantuan size dishes which are massive and shareable and relatively cheap. Unlimited garlic knots. The garlic knots are to die for. They are warm, fresh, oily and perfect. The servers walk by every few minutes so you have a never ending supply of them. Great ambiance! The outdoor seating is perfect — lots of cute lights and heat lamps. The menu is extensive, the service is great, and the location is steps away from the beach which is convenient if there is a wait. Parking is easy as there are loads of meters near by. Cons: The pasta does not taste super authentic. The noodles tasted like they came out of a box from the grocery store; however, they were cooked to the correct degree of softness. The sauces tasted heavy(and not so healthy) and could have been a little more flavorful. Again, the sauces tasted pretty generic as if it were pre made, cheap sauces from a bottle. We ordered a special that had scallops, salmon, shrimp, broccoli, etc in it but there was just not enough of these items in the dish. Overall, this place is worth checking out! Can’t say it’s the best Italian I have had but you will definitely have a good time.

This place lives up to their Unilocal following. I came here for shrimp ravioli and was not let down. It was very delicious. The filling tasted fresh and so did all their meats. I don’t think they make their own pasta in house which would’ve really won me over but overall, it offers lots of variety without sacrificing quality. This is a rare quality for Italians spots. I find myself either conforming to Italian chains like Olive Garden to satisfy my Italian or paying a lot for the genuine stuff. I felt this place was a good in between but levels above what you’d get at a chain still. Service was fine. We were more into the good than anything to be bothered much. TIP: They do take a courtesy picture for a postcard and you can buy prints if you liked them. So come prepared for a nice picture or settle for the postcard. I do not recommend their breakfast however as I felt it was overpriced and lacking. $ 5 for a coffee and $ 12 for French toast that lacked toppings leaves you wishing you’d just gone across to the cow place as it offered more bang for your buck. I do highly recommend it for dinner though!

The atmosphere here is so wonderful. They sing, they come around and toast you, and the garlic knots are divine. That could be a meal in itself. The dessert tray is mouth watering! Sit outside on the patio if you can. There are pretty lights and the weather is always nice. I got the short rib which came with veggies, mashed potatoes. Very good. Boyfriend got a pasta. We got the tiramisu which was a classic. Street park or pray you find a spot right out front.

My second time here in almost two years. Why have I waited so long? I brought a friend from out of town here and it was fun to see her face light up when she tasted the Garlic Knots. A young lady came by out table to offer us a free postcard with out picture on it and my friend wasn’t interested because she wanted to eat her knots. When they came by and brought more without us asking she got even more excited. Haha! Next was the singing. My friend really enjoyed this too. I expected the knots and«That’s Amore» so I wasn’t as surprised, but I had just as much fun watching her as I did the first time singing with my husband. I give this place only four stars because the calamari really wasn’t that great. The sangria was really sweet like I like it though.

This place is amore! Garlic knots are just as good as advertised. Almost ate too many before my pasta came. But what are you gonna do? Was gonna get marinara sauce to dip them in. Unneeded. I got the Rigatoni Al Forno gargantuan size. With the intent of eating half that night and the rest for lunch the following day. Huge portion with a tasty meat sauce. I saw in some reviews folks said they needed to add salt. I did not. My gf got the short ribs with mashed potatoes and veggies. She enjoyed it. Got the Tiramisu for desert that comes out cold with chocolate sauce drizzled on top. Yum! Even if the food here was not good to great which it is. This place would get 5 stars from me. The raucous atmosphere with the singing staff and the neverending garlic knots sealed it. Also the staff comes around and toasts you. Plus we had a great seat right by the fountain as you walk into the outdoor dining area. Arrived 10 minutes before our RSVP and were seated immediately. Pretty easy street parking on Washington on this Wednesday evening. This place is a lot of fun!

Simple and Sweet I came here with some friends and this place is really nice. Décor is somewhat hipster but very family esque which i thought was nice. Now onto the food! The portions here are extremely massive and for starters we split the fried calamari which was crisp, light, and delicious. The marinara sauce was slightly bland but nothing a little salt couldn’t fix. The main dish i ordered was the Pappardelle Pasta with Mushrooms & Chicken Apple Sausage and it was good! Again could have used a tad bit more salt but simple fix. The best part of the meal though was the UNLIMITED garlic rolls! They are just so delicious and a little bit of extra carbs cant kill you right? It is also great for sopping up the sauce after you finish your pasta. Service is excellent and the place is well kept. They treat you like you are one of their own and feed you until you’re fat. Its also next to the beach so its nice to just stroll onto the beach after a meal! Price is fair as for location, quality, and quantity!

This is not the best Italian food in the world. But I can’t help but give this place five stars! They create such a fun atmosphere and the food more than gets the job done when you are looking to pig out on carbs. The good: –GARLICROLLS(duh, that’s why you’re even reading this review) they are bottomless and soaked in butter –Tomato Cream sauce – Any pasta I get, I just have them substitute it’s sauce for the tomato cream sauce. Its’ brighter and richer than the rest, showcases the tomato better. — in the pastas that have vegetables I actually think they give a hefty amount of veg so you don’t feel like a complete carbaholic. Veggies are well seasoned and cooked to just before mushy status –every hour they sing! Either Italian happy birthday or That’s Amore and the waiters walk around cheersing you and sipping wine. SUCH a festive atmosphere The bad: –bad parking sitch — you sit RIGHT next to your neighbors, one time a guy sitting next to me stretched and accidently put his fist into my garlic knots, then I killed him, just kidding but man if I ever do commit murder I’m sure it will be over those knots. –the pasta isn’t actually particularly exquisite. –The pesto is mostly cream, so heavy. Disappointing that there’s no freshness, herbiness, or salt in it, just cream.

Can I just get a lifetime supply of C&O Trattoria’s little buttery balls that they keep passing around any time you walk by *drools thinking about it* … This restaurant is located close to one of the entrances of Venice Beach by the open air gym area. The day I was there it happened to be the same day when a sandstorm decided to make an appearance and so we were not able to enjoy the outside patio which everyone said was the best in the area. The entrance is into the patio where you are greeted by the greeter who will ask you where you would like to be seated. After regretfully answering inside(imagine saying no to sitting outside in the beautiful LA sun) we were told to follow the green footsteps leading up to the front entrance where the door was opened for us and we made our way inside to the dining area. It is a very relaxed environment which is very true to the Venice Beach locale. Once we were seated, even before our server was with us we were given these heavenly rolls of garlic bread. If you are not a fan of Italian food(you should see a psychiatrist) but really if you don’t like Italian food you should try their complimentary bread rolls. You will fall in love. Staying true to the aesthetic of our surroundings our server came out with the menus and was wearing his aviator sunglasses which would irked me had it not been for experiencing this gem. When our server started taking our order he asked if we had gotten a chance to look at the daily special. We had not, so he went into reciting the menu which definitely must have taken a solid five minutes but it was a great description because you got to know every single ingredient that was used in the process which came in handy so my friends knew which food to avoid to help with their food allergies. I started with the minestrone soup and ordered half an order of calamari. We decided it would be a good idea to order a bottle of wine as they were half off that day. California White it was. The minestrone was a HUGE bowl. I could not finish it. The calamari was shared between three people. As was the bottle and I still wasn’t able to finish mine. For our entrees, two of my friends ordered from the lunch special and I got the chicken marsala which tasted like it was from Pronto Cuccino. I couldn’t eat it but it wasn’t because it wasn’t good but because of the rolls, minestrone, and the calamari I had had earlier. So I was only able to eat maybe 1⁄3 of the one of the three chicken pieces that were served with the pasta and veggies. The portion sizes here are huge which were in complete contrast to all the other food places I had dined at in the Los Angeles area during my stay. It was sad to me that I was not able to try any of their desserts. Our server brought us the dessert tray to demonstrate all the options they had available and they all looked moist and delicious. If you’re hungry + happen to be in the Venice Beach area + in the mood for some Italian food = go to C & O Trattoria!

I have been lucky enough to visit C&O Trattoria a few times and will continue to visit in the future. The garlic knots are amazing and I honestly could go here just to eat those alone. So much flavor(salt, garlic, seasoning and perfect amount of oil) that they are hard to stop eating. The main courses are HUGE and you can order a «gargantuan» size if you are looking to do family style or split the same dish with a few people. I ordered the Penne and sausage and I also tried the three cheese ravioli. The Penne was great, perfectly cooked and the sausage was your standard store bought sausage, neither one of these components took away from the dish. However, the sauce(cream base) had very little flavor besides cream and really took the dish down a few notches. The three cheese filling in the ravioli was tasty and the ravioli were HUGE with plenty on the plate. The pesto sauce however was the opposite of the cream sauce above; very salty and garlicky and was not the most pleasant. Even with these slight flaws, C&O is 100% worth a trip to. The portions are huge, garlic balls are amazing, menu is diverse and atmosphere is great. With a few slight tweaks to their sauces, this place would easily be a 4 or 5 star spot in my book.

This place gets PACKED. The parking is absolutely terrible since its right next to the beach and there is a constant wait to be seated. I could tell the host(seating the indoor section) was pretty overwhelmed but she was nice enough to seat us quickly since I was with someone on crutches. Service by our waiter was great. The complimentary garlic knots itself are worth the visit! Warm knots, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. YESYES and YES. Linguini with Lobster($ 22): Perfectly cooked lobster cream sauce mixed with tomatoes, mushrooms, shallots, asparagus tips, and of course, lobster! Definitely my favorite of the two pastas we ordered. Rigatoni Al Forno($ 16): Ground pork with rich meat sauce plus ricotta and mozzarella cheese. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area(and can find parking that is).

Garlic Knots Garlic Knots Garlic Knots! Bottomless garlic knots is what I absolutely love about this place… They have amazing pastas as well. :) But try to hold back on eating too many of their garlic knots because then you may not enjoy your pasta as much. They have an indoor part of the restaurant and a nice romantic patio area. My bf and I got a sangria, and I don’t really recommend that because it just tasted like diluted juice with some fruits. Opt in for a nice wine instead to go with your satisfying pasta. Prices are fair and the portions are decent. We took our pasta home with some extra garlic knots. :) This place is conveniently right next to the beach so this place is a perfect place to go after enjoying the beautiful California sunset.

My favorite Italian restaurant by far! The pasta is always excellent no matter what you get! My favorite is the farfalle genovese. The portions are pretty big too. I usually make two meals out of it. Of course the garlic knots are to die for. Their side caesar salad is also yummy and a good size. The service is excellent. The waiters are friendly and check on you often. Also, be prepared to sing. They hand out a sheet of lyrics, and everyone sings together every so often. It’s pretty fun! There’s outdoor and indoor seating. If you sit outdoors, there’s heaters to keep you warm. There’s valet parking and street parking at night. The street parking is annoying because you’ll be driving around forever, so I’d recommend valet. I believe it’s like $ 7 — $ 9.
