Pizza has gone way downhill. Hopefully they fix that! The crowd at night seems to be all less than desirable types. People my mom would tell me to stay away from. Meh!

3.5−4 stars but went with 4. This review is strictly for the take out pizza. We’ve tried the buffalo chicken(average– wouldn’t get again), pepperoni and a jalapeño and onion. The pepperoni was delicious with huge slices of roni covering the whole surface and the J&O was packed with heat and very good too. Take out time was reasonable for a Friday night(25 min). The crust is really good too. Definitely recommend the pizza here. This is now in our rotation for pizza places when in the mood for bar style or Greek pizza.

Fiancé and I were staying in Brant Rock and had dinner at Venus to take advantage of their Monday night half price pizza. The place was busy when we arrived and had to wait about 10 minutes for a table — not too bad, but I was surprised considering it was 20 outside! I’m sure this is a great spot for the summer and out door seating. Anywho, this place is your typical sports bar spot, some of the booths even have tvs in them! When we were seated we were told that pizzas would take about 30 – 40 minutes to serve as I’m sure everyone was taking advantage of the deal. We ordered the tater tots with cheese and bacon and clam chowder to hold us over. The tater tots was a big portion and could serve at least four people. Needless to say, we couldn’t finish it. It was good though, hard to fail tater tots and cheese though. The clam chowder was good nice and chunky with clams and potatoes(as it should be!). If an establishment in New England is on the water it would be an atrocity to fail clam chowder and well, this place didn’t. The pizza came out and well it was OK — good size, but I’ve had much better pizza at other bars, in any case for the price and since it was half off it was like $ 4(price will vary on what you order) it was fine. They do have a variety of toppings so pack on the pizza if you please! Service was fine and price isn’t bad even without the half price pizza it’s not bad. Typical bar, but food is OK and I’m sure during the summer this is a great place to sit outside and enjoy a meal.

Good portions, good service. Quality food is NOT their focus. Who doesn’t like tator tots with cheese and bacon? Too bad they are the same frozen ones I can get at the super market. Come on guys, you have a full professional kitchen back there. Learn to use it and put out professional food. Nice place no talent in the kitchen.

Their bar pizza is one of my favorites– If not my favorite. Typically order take-out only but we have dined in. Dine in is decent, We have tried the seafood platter and my husband a pasta dish. In the past we have also had their chicken and cheeseburgers as well. I would say a step up from your typical pub food. Service is average. It does get busy and parking especially for pick ups can become a bit of a challenge, but not a huge deal.

I have never written a restaurant review before because I know friends who own restaurants and have many friends who work in restaurants, and I know there are good days and not so good days. However, I was so dissatisfied with Venus tonight I had to write a review. I had been to Venus many times in years past and finally got so sick of the same menu I decided to try other places. Tonight I decided to give it another try. I ordered a dirty martini and as it came I said to myself, that’s not the right drink, then I had to ask for olives. I took a few sips and felt like I did straight shots of vodka. When I sent it back I heard the bartender making fun of me because I said it was too strong. Nope, sorry, you’re drink was just nasty! My food was cold. My dad just left my house thinking he might be sick on the way home. I’m writing this because this restaurant is in a beautiful area where it could flourish, however with the food and drinks I had tonight I know I’ll never go again or recommend it to anyone!

VERYVERY disappointing service experience! We sat for 15 minutes before we were approached. Then waited another 10 for our drinks. In between this time, we approached the hostess stand & asked for a different server as ours was clearly overwhelmed! THAT never happened! We finally placed our very simple order, it was served 10 minutes AFTER the table that sat 20+ minutes after us got their food. The food was actually decent… with the exception of the Chicken Caesar Salad which clearly sat under the heat lamp for way too long! Server told us she’d take that off our bill. Before we got our check, we gave her our credit card. When she gave us the credit card receipt to sign, we asked her to see an itemized bill. she then told us she never took the salad off! WHAT? So then she had to VOID our check & re-ring everything in again! there’s got to be a better way! Only reason I am not scoring Venus 2 a 1 is because the food wasn’t that bad AND there was a young bus girl who busted her butt & definitely did what she could to try to make it better!

Went to enjoy the 4th of July with my friends. First time going to this place. I just moved to MA so I don’t have my ID here yet. I brought my passport as my ID. The guy working the door look at the picture and me about 10 times then asked for another item with my name. Didn’t have anything else on me because I brought cash, and my clutch, not my full purse. They wouldn’t let me in. Mind you I get on planes with my passport. And I’m 26. Not like I just turned 21. Everyone else I was with are 25 and 26. It was a joke.

Visited the bar last Saturday with husband for a couple of drinks and take out meals. Atmosphere was upbeat and bustling. Staff was very attentive and equally pleasant. Beer on tap was ice cold and refills were prompt. There were 3 ladies handling the entire bar for food and drink and they were excellent! Would visit again based on their customer service. Unfortunately the take out meals left us not so thrilled. Seafood is not a great option here. Fried scallops plate was greasy and not best quality. Fishermans platter was of same quality. Shrimp raviolis were lacking in shrimp and buried in heavy cream. Fajitas were very good and recommended. Small cheese pizza appeared to have meat on it. Not totally a bad pizza but not great for vegetarian. I will give menu another visit as I enjoyed the workers and the establishment. Thanks for a pretty good experience. I would recommend trying this spot as it has a lovely beachside location and excellent staff.

My wife and I visited the Venus II last Friday evening and as one would expect it gets busier from 5pm on. The hostess brought us to a table and my wife prefers a booth so when she asked the hostess about the booth behind us that was empty the hostess said it was reserved for larger parties. We sat at the table with the uncomfortable chairs then within minutes the hostess had a nerve to walk by us with a party of two and sat them in the booth. It seems this may have been a case of favoritism since it appears she may have known them along with a waitress. My wife asked the hostess why she seated them in the booth and her reply was sorry its really busy. Ok, it was busy when we walked in before theses other people and its busy at the time she seated them and its going to get busier ! That’s why we showed up a little earlier only to be slighted by this hostess. The waitress then brought us popcorn that was stale and when we asked about it she said it was last popped in the morning? The nachos were ok but they lacked cheese. I don’t tend to write negative views since I worked in restaurants when I was younger and its a difficult job but this situation is absurd. So maybe its time for management to review their policies and procedures with the staff in Marshfield. Thank You. P. S I have frequented the Venus III in Hanson since it’s inception and have never had a reason to complain. They have an excellent management team and staff.

Went here for a late lunch/early dinner this past weekend… the place itself is sort of dingy, but the location is great — it’s right off the beach, and there is outdoor seating. We sat indoors because there are tvs in the booths and we have a toddler who needed entertaining. He got a burger, and devoured the whole thing, so it must have been good. They let us sub his fries for veggies, which I always appreciate. We got an underwhelming salad, which was served with to-go containers of dressing, but the pizza made up for what the salad lacked. We got the buffalo chicken pizza and it was awesome. This place is clearly known for their pizza, judging by the amount of takeout pizza boxes that were being picked up while we were there, and rightfully so. I wouldn’t go back for a salad, but the pizza was worth a revisit!

Great Bloody Mary! Went there after the Marshfield race on Saturday. Had a great Bloody at Venus II for under $ 8. I was expecting a house Mary due to crowds, but was pleasantly surprised. GREAT! Extra spicy was actually extra spicy. Went to Jetty to compare — OMG should have never left Venus II. No comparison at all, Venus’ was great!

I’ve eaten here many times through the years. In the past, the food and service were just OK. But more recently my husband and I have been back and the food and service have been good! My husband likes the bar pizza(I do too) as well as the fish and chips. I enjoy the buffalo chicken wrap and the fries are really good! I’ve tried the meatball grinder a couple times but it needs more sauce. We’ve also had the mozzarella cheese sticks and onion rings. Both were tasty. The menu is pretty big, so sometimes I’m hesitant to try something new because I don’t know how they keep so many ingredients fresh? Service has been very good, including being greeted upon entry and the table service itself. Orders come out in a timely fashion and are accurate. The amount of TVs can be a bit distracting. We never use the small ones at the booth but that’s why people go there to watch sports! It’s not a deal breaker.

The thing that most bothers me is the draft selection from 1996. There is seriously not one local craft beer on tap other than Harpoon. You’d think they could at least put a Mayflower IPA or some other beer that gets crushed at other bars. I just don’t get it. Stiff competition from Haddad’s next door with a significantly better selection, why not? It’s cool you sell cheap Bud Lights, but when those people have friends who recognize it is piss water, then the group ends up choosing a different bar to go to.

Fun atmosphere. But if you are looking for good tasty quality food, this is not the place. The pizza is mediocre at best. The salad is all lettuce with maybe a Alice of tomato and a slice of cucumber. Major disappointment and I would never return

I go to the Venus a few times a month whether it be right after I come off the beach or for drinks on a Friday or Saturday night. I absolutely love their pizza! Other meals are good but I almost always get a pizza. They have a DJ every Friday and Saturday and the music is always good. During the summer it turns into a club atmosphere. Its mostly college kids and the under 30 crowd from local towns that don’t want to drive and spend the money in a Boston bar. Under 21 not allowed after 9pm on weekends and its heavily enforced. Prices are great, service is awesome. Joanne and Heidi are my favorite bartenders in town!

Growing up, Venus was one of the best places to get pizza. My mother would take us to Venus II, we would grab a couple pizzas to-go, and then make our way over to the beach. Eating dinner on the beach, and hanging out by the water on a beautiful summer evening was sooo much fun, and made us feel like superstars! My last visit was much different than my childhood memories. My aunt and I came here for the evening, and the pizza was so bad we didn’t even eat it. None of the food we had was good, and even the soda was flat. Service even sucked. The staff was run by a bunch of teenagers that wanted to do anything but tend to the customers. The location is perfect! Venus II located on the other side of the street from the beach. I wish the food was better. BUMMER!
