When the weather gets warm, this is the place for exercise. While most people take advantage during all seasons, I only visit during the Spring and Summer months. Savannah Rapids Park is lovely. It has an awesome running, walking, or biking trail. You can kayak as well. I usually walk or jog. However, beware of the swarms of gnats. Oh my! I could hardly walk without encountering a swarm every 3 feet. It’s a great place to exercise or have a picnic. You can also visit just to enjoy the scenery. The trail goes all the way to the Augusta Riverwalk, I haven’t traveled all of it, but I may do so one day. Do yourself a favor and visit just to escape the buildings and cars if only for a moment.

A great place to come walk, bike, run. Parking can get kinda of congested the closer you get to the river. This place is full of families coming to experience the great outdoors, or at least take family pictures. Pet friendly as well which is also a great plus. Rent yourself a bike or a kayak and go for a spin. I like walking along the canal trail. Its flat and there are mile markers every half mile. Plenty of room for everyone on the trail as well. The actual pavillion is a great place to have a prom/party/wedding reception. In fact this place is one of the premier places to host a large gathering.

This is my favorite place when I’m in Augusta. I usually bring my running shoes, because they have a big clean trail. If you’re not a runner like i am then you can choose to hike, bike, or kayak on the canal. My friend said they had a MCG banquet there. I believe there’s multiple pavilions in all sizes for all special occasions.

A great place for a walk, run, or biking. I wouldn’t be out there after dark… It’s still in Augusta.

The most beautiful and scenic site in Augusta. This is where the Canal running trail opens up that leads all the way to downtown. It’s about a 7 mile stretch if I’m not mistaken. Watch out for snakes!

They have a small playground setup in between the parking lots here. We always go by the rapids to see the water and talk a small walk around the trail(crossing the bridge). We have seen small(red ear slider turtles) as well as larger turtles on the walking paths — so its pretty cool especially for younger children. A lot of people come here to jog and usually bring their dogs with. Great place to bring out of town guests.

Great location to host an event. The 4-H club often uses this building; it is very spacious and has a spectacular view of the Savannah River. It is a wonderful venue to host an event. Owned and operated by Columbia County, Savannah Rapids Pavilion is a self-supporting multi-purpose community/conference center. The pavilion offers a variety of rooms ranging in size from a 12-person conference room to a banquet room capable of accommodating 500. Savannah Rapids Pavilion is situated on an 80 — foot bluff overlooking the beautiful Savannah River and the Historic Augusta Canal. The facility offers a commercial kitchen on the main level and a limited kitchen on the lower level. Moveable partition walls permit the facility to accommodate small or large functions such as family reunions, weddings and receptions, conferences, seminars, trade shows, training sessions and organization meetings
