If the food sucks send it back! I love the shrimp dumplings, California rolls– yummy!!! I have been going here for years love it!!!

Wakamatsu is my favorite Japanese restaurant in any occasion. Great for a date or to go solo to enjoy the rolls and hot tea. It has great delicious food and a great quiet and relaxed atmosphere. DEFINITELY a place to visit!

I can’t say anything bad about the food they serve in here because I totally enjoyed them. However, the waitress was not that accomodating. She looked annoyed when she was taking our orders. Our food took almost 30 minutes to be served. We paid around $ 80 and I think it’s not worth it.

This place has seriously gone downhill. Every time I have come, the food has gotten worse. Last time I came, the tuna was so disgusting I had to spit it out. I didn’t bother calling them to have a fresh roll delivered, my stomach was turning. Even my friend who only eats california rolls said hers didn’t taste fresh. Gave them a few tries, but I’m never coming back.

Super fresh seafood! The best sushi restaurant I went. If you like Japanese restaurant you should come here when you come to Maspeth.

We just love the sushi here with so many options to choose from and it is always so FRESH! The menu is also diverse enough that there is something to satisfy everyone’s tastes. Be sure to try their fried ice cream for dessert, it’s yummy.

I was having dinner the other night with my kids. A large roach crawled up the wall near my son. Totally ruined my appetite. After pointing it out to the waitress I left paying the check with no apologies from the her, the manager or a discount.

LOVE Wakamatsu. One of my go to dine-in places when I lived in Maspeth and now that I live in Middle VIllage, we tend to just order takeout. Love the sushi and the fried rice is excellent! You want to eat it all up in one sitting! The owners are very friendly.

There are only two Japanese restaurants in Maspeth, Queens– I happen to like both ;) Wakamatsu was here first, so I have a bit of nostalgia for them– I’ve eaten here, taken out, and ordered delivery dozens of times over the years, and have never been disappointed. I feel confident eating here with their consistent grade A health rating. They remember me, and accommodate my vegetarian requests. Lunch specials are quick, tasty, and inexpensive– what more can you ask from a small local family-run restaurant? My personal favorite is the tofu teriyaki. Mom loves the chicken katsu. Both are nicely presented, with crispy panko breadcrumbs. Service is pleasant and not pushy– they never rushed me out, even during Hurricane Sandy!!! Mellow place, simple décor with natural wood accents, casually comfortable– enjoy…

The food isn’t special but, but it is very filling. The my tempura was a little oily, but other than that I have no complaints about the food. The waitress who served us didn’t give us water to start off until we asked her for some. I wish the service was a little friendlier.

So first off I’ll say, I’m not a foodie, or a sushi critic. I never really ate here, just get takeout. In fact, I’m allergic to shellfish, so I can’t have most of the stuff on the menu. What I do know though is that I’m Chinese, and the people here speak Chinese, so it’s a Chinese run Japanese place. So is the other sushi place a few blocks down on Grand as well. In fact, I’m pretty sure a lot of sushi places in Queens are run by Chinese people. If that bothers you, then don’t come here. That being said though, this place does make decent sushi(what little I can eat), and it’s cheaper than most of the other places around. I like their sweet potato tempura. Never thought you can make sweet potato, tempura it, and make it into sushi, but it tastes good. There’s a good variety on their buy 3 rolls special too. We got 2 platters from here for a birthday party. There were some foodies there. I didn’t hear any complaints.

Overall good experience. Fast delivery and good price. I ordered Salmon teriyaki. Shrimp and vegetable tempura were a little too oily. Salad was very fresh. Shumai was good and salmon was delicious, although the size of Salmon was a little smaller than I thought. I will order from there again.

The worst service I’ve ever had anywhere and the most rude servers I’ve ever met… we’ve been here 20minutes and have yet to order or get asked what we want…

Good Local Sushi Restaurant and the Big Salad That Came With It! Food: 3.5 Stars The best way I can explain it is this: It is a local sushi place so don’t expect the world. The sushi is good here, but nothing blew me away. Everything about the plating, taste, portions was standard or above average. The sushi looked fresh so that is a place. The tuna roll was standard, good portion of tuna to the rice. I must say that the salad the sushi dinner came with was much larger than I had expected. It is the standard salad you receive at most Japanese restaurants, but approximately twice the size(portion wise). It was average, again nothing that really pops out other than the portion size. The Tempura ice cream was good, nothing spectacular, but the green tea ice cream was good and the tempura batter wasn’t too thick or thin. The katsu dishes look interesting and the bento boxes are worth the price. Above average at its best(makes me sound like a broken record). Service: 3.25 Stars On the whole the service was good, but since we were the only patrons in the restaurant we were ignored once for the majority of our meal. The staff spent a lot of time taking care of large amount of take-out and delivery orders. It was a little difficult to grab their attention to order dessert and ask for the check. Other than the occasional MIA service at times, the staff was polite friendly and most importantly the food came out fairly quickly. Ambiance: 3.25 Stars Since the restaurant was deserted when we ate here(ate at 5:30pm) it’s harder to get a good feel of the restaurant. The overall layout is basic, nothing over the top. If the restaurant was more crowded I get the feeling I would get a normal feeling for the restaurant like I did with the food. Nothing flamboyant, nothing amazing, but nothing bad. Once again, above average at its best. Overall: 3.25 Stars The restaurant seems to rely heavily on takeout from the neighborhood which means the overall quality of the food is good. There is nothing amazing about Wakamatsu, but they provide a good service, a nice dinner box, sushi platter, and a nice dessert. The price range is about right for Queens and well below the prices of Manhattan. If you looking for a no thrills sushi place in Queens, Wakamatsu is a restaurant to give a try.

Pretty good sushi. I got the Special maki lunch for $ 9.95. All the rolls were fresh and well done. The soy sauce was delish. I took off one star bc the order took 50 mins instead of the 30 mins quoted by the woman at the counter. That means I had 20 mins less to enjoy the lunch. Overall, positive review.

Wakamatsu is a pretty good Chinese-run Japanese place(which is most Japanese restaurants in Queens). I’ve been here twice and ordered from here once. This is a review for both dine-in and delivery. It’s not a rather large or boastful place and the décor isn’t over-the-top. I remember coming here in the middle of the day on a weekday and it wasn’t so busy for dining in, but the delivery orders were constant. The waitress was as attentive as any other waitress. She was also working the phones, so I’m glad we got some decent service. My friend and I were looking for a place to replace our old Japanese go-to since the service there went down and I moved. When I passed this place, we stopped by. She ordered a 3-roll combo. It’s a couple pieces less than other places, but the pieces are bigger, so no problem there. I had a salmon teriyaki bento lunch box. It came with a lot of sides. I can’t recall if it was shu mai or fish cakes, but there was also a four-piece California roll, soup, rice, and a salad. The food was pretty good. 4⁄5. Our delivery experience was this week. It was quick and the food was pretty good. We had a Tonkatsu and a chicken katsu lunch bento box with an 8-piece sashimi appetizer. The bento boxes were quite delicious. Came with fish cake, salad, soup, and 4-piece California rolls. Just the same amount as dining in. The sashimi was very fresh, but was cut quite differently. Rather than cut in slices, they were cut into fingers. It was very fresh, but nothing over-whelming. We spent 27 bucks on lunch, which isn’t that bad. This a good place to come to for lunch. The taste is a 3.5÷5, but the amount of food makes it into a solid 4⁄5. The delivery is prompt and I will probably order from here again since it’s close-by.
