This is a great place. The new management definitely has improved it.

Always a good time there a little pricey for a pub but service has improved a lot. Local and closest thing Stonebridge has to a laid back bar!

Lunch was great — I had the buffalo chicken salad with ranch instead of blue cheese and the hubby had the buffalo chicken sliders minus ranch and added blue cheese crumbles and cheese fries as an appetizer. They were able to accommodate our changes to the food willingly and everything tasted great! Our waitress was just the right amount of attentive and friendly. I think we’ll be back for drinks and/or eats!

I came in from Austin and stopped in because of the reviews and for karaōke. I don’t know why anyone would say anything negative about the food. The mushroom swiss burger w amazing onion rings was great. The fish & chips were delicious. The KJ was fabulous and the wait staff were fast, courteous, honest and super friendly. GREATPLACE. GREATATMOSPHERE.

Came in around 5:00 on Saturday. There were maybe 5 folks at the bar and two tables about to start playing poker. I sat in the bar area but not at the bar. Waiter was nice but looked at me blankly when I ordered a gin gimlet. Since he clearly had no idea what I had ordered, I explained it to him and told him they could make it with just gin and lime juice but that if they had simple syrup I would prefer they use all three and I gave him the ratios for either variety. A couple of minutes later, he came back with my drink and laughed that they even had a button for it on the POS. It was a touch light on the gin, but at least he and the bartender made it happen. Didn’t have any food but was asked by both players and the guy running the poker game if I wanted to join. The house game is free no limit Texas HoldEm with a cash payout to the winner. Extra chips are given to start if you order food. Sounds like the pub has been all over the place in terms of service and quality, but for one night for me it was A-OK. I will probably stop by at some point and join the game.

This is the worst bar that I’ve ever went to. The owner does not give a crap about anything. The servers are clueless and don’t know what they’re doing, all they do is give the wrong food then have an attitude when you call them out. It took over 15 mins to get a drink and even be noticed at a table. On top of that, it took 35 minutes to get a grilled cheese and fried pickles! That should take 10 maybe 15 minutes tops! When we talked to the owner, who has a massive«I don’t care about my bar» attitude, he said«oh we’re really busy.» And walked off. Don’t go here. They won’t last. If I could give 0 stars I would.

Not a fan. I ordered a redbull and got that nasty blue knockoff. Went to play pool and the room was so small you couldn’t hold the cue sticks. No wonder this place has bad reviews.

I have been to Jack’s Pub 3 times in the last 3 years always hoping it would improve. The food is at best mediocre and the service is consistently bad. From walking in to finishing your meal you leave feeling you could have had a better experience at a fast food restaurant.

Great local spot! New ownership has definitely turned it around. It’s not as scary as it was when it initially opened. The food and service are great during the day. Krissy is one of the funniest and most knowledgeable bartenders out there. The younger/evening waitresses could learn the menu and drinks a little better. The last thing one wants to hear from a server is «vodka? I don’t know. I don’t really drink». A little homework and learning the menu could really increase your check and tip as a server. Overall, it’s a convenient neighborhood spot and we like it.

The worst pub in America. The barmaid has psychological problems and needs immediate care. Any one that goes here will suffer the same fate and need immediate care as well.

On a whim we decided to dine at Jack’s last night and what an awful decision. Definitely poor choice for the $ 47 tab. This place used to have pretty decent food and we have always enjoyed stopping in but it has definitely gone downhill and the service is awful. We ordered our favorite, fried pickles, only to find for a much higher price the quantity was about 1⁄3 of what we used to receive(plus they were not the typical thin sliced pickles, they were quite thick). We then waited more than 35 minutes for our dinner order to be delivered and when we did finally receive it our food was cold, like they literally had just rotated the food through the microwave. Although it’s in our neighborhood we definitely will never be back. If it were possible to give it negative stars I would.

Meh… I was greeted immediately, and ordered a beer. While I waited for my beer I continued to look over the beer list. When a new waitress brought my drink to me I asked her what their«local rotators» were. She responded with«I don’t know, it’s my very first day, I will go check». Ok, that’s an acceptable answer and all, but who puts someone on the floor who has received zero training or has zero knowledge of what is offered? She comes back to tell me that it is the Sam Adams Seasonal, and my response was which one? She looked confused, so I asked about specific Sam seasonals, and eventually she just said«yeah, that one»… My glass stayed full, and when my other friends arrived they were serviced quickly. When it came time to order she had lots of recommendations, which led me to believe that she had some sort of training, or it was not her first day. I was not impressed with anything really. If that makes me a douche, so be it. The prices are cheaper than other places we could have gone, but looking back I would have rather paid more for the products to get a better experience. I am a firm believer that it was a better place when it was the McKinney Tavern.

Is it possible to give a location negative stars? Poor beer and liquor selection. Terrible food. Mediocre entertainment and the most depressing collection of bar regulars you will ever encounter. Trust me, there is no reason to visit this bar.

Ok, so I was in the neighborhood because I have relatives in McKinney… this was the only bar around. I don’t know if it’s the only bar in McKinney, but it seems that way. The service was horrible; non-existent really. The drinks were not well made, and they really weren’t sure what I was talking about when I mentioned cocktails. The environment is catered to an older crowd who likes to come drown their sorrows while watching MMA fighting… so if that’s your scene I guess… ok. The TV’s are decent, but the sound in the room isn’t set up well. The space is great and big, but wasn’t built out to be a great bar. Oh, and the food is no good. Anyway, maybe I’m used to the good bars in Dallas/Denton/etc? But this bar is just not. It’s just… there aren’t really words to describe it. It’s not worth your time or money unfortunately. On the other side of that coin? If you have money to build a bar and hire some great people, McKinney needs one! You would make BANK(and shut this place down) if done correctly! Someone… do this… please.

Never have been to a restaurant before that refused to fix your order. Especially if it is as easy and essential a thing as heating up nachos so that the cheese actually melts. Quite shocking and off-putting and, frankly, the rudest thing that I have ever experienced in a bar or restaurant. Even the manager couldn’t be bothered to fix it. Not good. Our waitress, however, was very kind and apologetic though it was in no way her fault. I was never the biggest fan of Jack’s Pub or the Tavern before it, but the blatant rudeness expressed last time sealed the deal. Crummy service, terrible music, unoriginal design, and an overall depressing feeling. There are plenty of better places in McKinney to take your patronage. Avoid this place.

This used to be the McKinney Bar and Grill. When it was such, it was kind of a sports bar theme and it was an all right place to drink. I would not call a great experience. They had a fairly regular bar crowd. One day, the place closed. For whatever reason, that was, the place was shut down. A couple of months later, I found it reopened. There was no sign up and so I walked in. There were some minor changes to the interior. OK, we thought we would try it. They did change the menu. It took awhile before anybody figured out that we may want service. What we ordered was nothing special. I do not remember what the drinks were priced at. Another couple of months went by, the sign finally got hung up. The menu was the same. I do remember this occasion better and I can comment that this place was marginal as McKinney Grill and it has gotten worse. The service was marginal with the prior owners and worse now. I think I recall a waitress with all kinds of tattoos. Furthermore, the place is really not very clean. One comment made on 8⁄18 about this being the diamond of McKinney makes me kind of laugh. I have lived here for quite awhile and if this the diamond, I hate to see what the rest of what we have to offer as a town has in store for those that visit this great town. Frankly, if I am the owner or someone that is actually looking for a place to sit down and I see five reviews with one star and then one with five stars, I would start thinking about what to do to change that. Otherwise, you might as well do McKinney a favor and shut it down. In a better part of McKinney and near Stonebridge, this place is a dump.
