Cool atmosphere and descent food. My family loves coming here during the week. My dad really enjoys the local beers. And I freaking love the burgers.

The Pub was very difficult to rate. I REALLY want to give it 3*** but dangit, altho the service was borderline awful(due, apparently, to being understaffed) our waitress was working pretty darn hard. Food was very good, excellent Brie appetizer and onion rings, very good fish and chips, good burgers, cold beer. Where the place lacks is efficient service. Every phase of it was slow from taking out drink orders, to actually(with our prodding) getting drinks to the table, to taking our order, to getting food to the table, to getting the check… but dangit, I’m just not gonna ding it a star down to 3. If you go here, you’ll get good food, cold beer, hard working waitresses, great atmosphere, and, most likely, a long-ish wait. If yer good with that(I am, we’ll be back) have at it!(tonite’s visit was slower than the one we had a few mths back)

Awesome place for dinner and drinks! The pub sliders were soo good. Try the white chocolate mint martini. It’s great for the season but I would drink them all year long. The onion rings were really good too. We will be coming back to try out the dinner menu and probably brunch too!

It’s Friday night and everyone is out and having fun. This is a lively place with a good atmosphere. I ordered the veggie burger with fries. It was alright, nothing too exciting, served with lettuce, tomatoes, onion and pickle, along with the usual condiments. I’m sure the other food items were good if you are not vegan. There was another vege sandwich option with a portabello burger. I’ll have to come back one day and try that. Overall, it was okay, but nothing too special.

Tonight you lost my business forever… we used to come here all the time and stopped due to poor service. Well, tried it again and guess what? Poor service! Waited over 5 minutes before a waitress came near, checked on table next to us and walked away… sorry Pub I’m done!

Wide selection of beer! JC and Carly are super fun. The menu is appropriate for bar food with better taste and preperation. The menu also includes monthly specials.

So this place is on my bike ride home from work(and as far as I can ascertain, I’m the only damn bicycle commuter in McKinney), so on nights I don’t feel like cooking, I often clock in. They do have a fairly impressive selection of beers on draft, including two from Franconia, which is local, thought not Tupps, which is also local. And a full bar, the extent of which I have not explored, though I note a diverse array of single malts and tequilas. So it’s pretty clear they are making a definite effort on the«we can get you sozzled with style» front. And if you’re in it for the beer, it’s likely your best choice in McKinney. The food is… ok. The burgers are quite good, really(local beef they claim is wagu, and I have no reason to disbelieve them); most other things are pretty mediocre. The shepherd’s pie has never seen a shepherd(that’s a joke, son, but I’m not ordering it again); the veggie burger is about the worst I’ve ever had, but I guess I’m a moron for ordering a veggie burger in fucken Texas anyway. So you know… Come for the beer, don’t come for the food, but you can have a pretty good burger with your beer.

Fun place to grab a beer, atmosphere is bit loud to talk in-typical bar though I guess. Food is pretty good, the burger is basic but delicious. Try the Guinness cheddar burger too. 4 different kind of fries to try as well. Good selection of beer, wine and spirits. Has a small enclosed patio to enjoy. Prices are decent and servers are average. It’s 21+ only after 9pm. Have a few large tables good for bigger parties to gather around. We enjoy coming here from time to time!

Excellent place to grab a juicy burger and a fine beer. Ambience is very nice and I dig the patio seating.

Whomever the Chef is here is doing a fabulous job! I love good onion rings so I had to try their onion rings and they were superb! Possibly the best I’ve had. They were sliced perfect, crispy, and not greasy, served with a spicy mayo that went nicely with the O’s. I had a cup of Beef Stew that would put any other to shame! The carrots, potatoes and beef each cooked to perfection and swimming in a delightful beefy stock. YUM! Beyond the food the owners have spared no expense on the interior which blends well in historic downtown. No dank musty bar odors here! We shall return!

Just appetizers and drinks. Black bean nachos were really good. Also ordered the Mediterranean plate which was also good. Drinks were just fine

Worst experience ever! Kyle the manager basically said, its«19» min past closing time and we want to leave so drink your beer or I’m going to take it «I’m Kyle the manager if you’re going to call someone.» it’s Friday night. Hope nobody wants to come here for a fun time! Or if you do make sure you want to go home right when it’s closing time. Sorry, we want to refill our salt shakers that you didn’t use. Good thing you got your tip before we left. Kyle the manager«let those douches leave then»… Thanks for the great service!

Brunch was a bust. The food took an hour to come out, and when it finally did, some people got cold food, some people had to wait another 10 minutes, and one person just got the wrong thing. When we tried to send back the wrong plate, the waitress looked confused and said, «I guess I can ask them to fix it.»

I love the pub. I wish that I lived closer so I could go more often. We have been coming here since it opened. My parents now live in McKinney and they love it too. This is the kind of restaurant I would want to own. Everything is great about the place. I love the vibe, a little upscale for pub, but still a pub, casual and comfortable. I like the outdoor patio area when its nice out and its nice they close it up when its colder. The service is always fast and great. On the last visit the waitress went out of her way to make sure my dad got his burger perfectly cooked the way he wanted. The beer selection is always great with rotators and seasonals. They have a good selection of local beers as well as good European ones you would expect at an Irish pub. The food is perfect. I am obsessed with their pomee frites. Fresh perfect fries with amazing dips — seasoned ketchup, an aioli and loaded baked potato dip. The last is the best. The calamari is also really solid, with a great dip as well that makes it unique. The Guinness cheddar burger is great and I am not a big burger fan. My dad tried it on our last visit and raved about it. My mom had the potato soup and said it was by far the best soup she has ever had. I had the french dip, which I have had multiple times and its the best one I had. Flavorful with great au jus. I also love that they give you tons of choices of sides instead of just fries, I love getting a salad in place. Everything I had here is great. Will definitely be back again and again.

This place has great fries. Local draughts and a very interesting atmosphere. The setup, however, isn’t very conducive to making new friends. They seem to have a bi polar disorder. The place wants to be a bar but is setup like a restaurant. Billiards in the back, bar to the right as you enter, a small semi private room to the left reminds me of the home office space that you usually see in modern homes, and the main area has way too many tables. There is absolutely no room for mingling.

Love this place: 1. Good Beers — Wide variety including some of my favorite, Belgian Ales. 2. Good food — Mostly pub-type food, but not pub-type taste. I’d come here just to eat a Guinness burger with sweet potato fries any day. 3. Great staff — fun, friendly, responsive 4. Fantastic atmosphere, very quintessential pub qualities. Love that they have board games folks can play. Only complaint is that the table & booth seats aren’t comfortable enough. 5. Downtown McKinney is a lot of fun overall, so while parking can be a pain on Friday and Saturdays, pub-goers can come early and do some shopping 6. Walking distance from my house!

This is probably the best bar in McKinney. Which says a lot, because when I was in McKinney growing up, there were no bars and the whole place was dry except for club card places. To think that Mactown has a craft(ish) beer pub now blows my tiny mind. The tap list here stands alongside any of the Dallas and Plano craft beer bars. All of the locals, special releases, and even keep the glass nights. They have all of the big hitters. The only reason that this beer paradise has 4 stars instead of 5 is that it can’t quite shake the feel of drinking in a chainstore style bar. The kind where you get either Miller or the Bud. The food menu could also use a bit of an upgrade to stand alongside the Libertines and Blind Butchers of the world. That withstanding, whenever I’m back in McKinney, I’m stopping by The Pub for a pint or 7.

This looked like a cool place, but sadly did not get a chance to try anything. We walked in at 8:45 on New Year’s Eve and were refused service because we were told they were closing at 9PM. On New Year’s Eve. It was especially weird since the place had plenty of people in it and it was decorated for New Year’s so my date made a comment like, «That’s an interesting choice…» and he was met with a snotty retort from the blonde who refused to serve us. So unbelievably rude. Super bummed out because I’d love to try this place, but it seems from other reviews that the staff is generally unfriendly.

Really sad &HORRIBLE! This is not a pub… more like dud! I was furious when I left… Had to wait over 10 mins to place an order for a water & a freekin beer! Another 10 + mins for drinks… then our waitress vanished into the darkness… service so bad did not want to try the food! Then I complained & the wannabe waitress popped up… just tacky. Place was overly decorated for Halloween…& bathroom was cruddy. Staff was scuzzy looking. I’m so tired of these kind of places… slap a title on & call yourself a pub… GIMME A BREAK… I actually feel sorry for this business owner. Time to empty the ashtray! Looked like middle schoolers were working. This was absolutely THEWORSTSERVICE! you’ll get better service at Whataburger!

Went in with a friend for my first time there. A Cowboy Game was on so there wasn’t much of a crowd there plus it was on a Sunday afternoon. Although a little lighter and roomier inside than I like my pubs, it was still nicely done in dark finished wood. Reminded me of the English, Irish and Welsh Pubs I’ve had close encounters of the alcohol kind. The staff was friendly and the the Lakewood Lager was delicious. So, I had another. Great place, and look forward to popping in there again! Will have to try the food on the next visit.
