Went back and had a different hair stylist do my hair. I have curly hair which he soaked in three products (never a good idea for hair like mine!). He asked my preference which I explained: blow dry, soft curls, round brush and rollers to set it. This is what I standardly get done at least once a month at various salons. He brushed out my wet hair and started blow drying it without a round brush. Just drying it! So obviously it was just frizzy. He then started putting it in rollers smoothing out the hair. Then asked me to sit while he took on other work. He opened a few and the curl of course did not happen. Then he sprayed tons and tons of hair spray on the rollers. He asked my permission first but I didn’t expect him to spray THAT much. Then he asked me sit under the heat lamp (I’ve never had to do this in my life). The guy then took on a male client and left me in the chair. I got his attention after 15 min and he clearly had forgotten about me. He then pushed me off to the hair wash lady to undo the rollers. She undid all of them and tried to twist the straight strands around her fingers. Nothing curled, some strands were creased, some strands were crunchy. My stylist watched (barely) while buzzing another clients hair. He came in at the end and didn’t show me my whole head of hair (the back with a mirror) until I asked. No way he didn’t recognize that this was a poor job. Really unfortunate experience that took 1.5 hours instead of 45 min. I watched many others go in and out with Ray and the other female stylist.
My hair is easy and the perfect texture to hold curls for days. I just need some serum or mouse, round brush blow dry, and setting it in rollers for volume. My scalp was caked in the product and itchy and my hair looked like I started curling it with a hot iron by myself and gave up halfway.
I’m most upset because the other stylists were watching this process step by step and saying nothing. I said thanks, tipped, even though I feel I was really given the short end of the stick.
It’s my fault for not stopping the process once it started but I’m sure many women can relate to that feeling of dread when things are not going right in a salon chair, but the rush to get somewhere and not want to start an argument takes priority.
$ 50 and almost two hours… For hair I could do better myself.
I don’t know what the deal was. I was told I could sit with Ray but when I arrived the salon asked someone else to take me on. It felt like I was thrown to a junior staff member. Perhaps this place has favorites which is too bad. Especially when this happens towards people that live in your salon’s neighborhood — people that could become your regulars!
Ray is great (see first review) but this guy really did not know what he was doing. Make sure you book the right person for your hair type.

Best, best find! I got a cut and style from John. Everyone is excellent. Such a nice location to feel relaxed and at peace. I love love John’s style and attention to detail. He gives me killer bangs and takes such care to make sure I’m happy. I am so impressed every time. Thanks as always!

I had an excellent haircut at this lovely salon and I will definitely go back for additional services. Matt is a great haircutter and everyone is friendly and gracious. Prices are very reasonable for the McLean area and the service is top notch.

I came here to get my eyebrows shaped and lip waxed. Was very happy with the service as she listened to what I was looking for and the results were great!

I had one of the best massages here. The environment and the employees are excellent. All very attentive and friendly. I would recommend to family and friends.

Nice spa in McClean. Plenty of parking. Lots of new magazines, nice chocolates, and I was brought a beverage while waiting. My appointment started right on time. The spa feels new and clean — newly painted, clean new equipment, etc. Sherry did my bikini wax — efficient, relatively painless. She was nice and so were the other people working at the spa.

I popped in here on a whiim to get my eyebrows waxed. The owner and esthetician did a fabulous job. I am very careful who I have provide this service as my brows have been mangled on more than one occasion. A very professional job for a reasonable price. I am considering having her do permanent make-​up for me. Highly recommend Bliss Spa and look forward to going there for additional services soon.
