$ 109 before tip and my shalac has peeled off of one nail and chipped on another. The staff here is extremely welcoming and pleasant but unfortunately the manicure wasn’t top notch.

Had a groupon for a tropical twist pedicure… came in on an early weekday afternoon to redeem my pedi and requested an add on regular mani. The place itself, was fine, for Tysons Corner, it needed some updating… as the prices reflect the zipcode, but as some posters have mentioned, some equipment was old and a sign was placed next to me as water was coming out of one of the chairs, out of order… Reception was friendly, color choices were plentiful, but some were half capped and sticky. My technician offered me something to drink and did a decent job with the spa treatment. My only complaint was that that mani was done in the same seat as the pedi… a cushion with a towel was used for propping my hands up and there were knicks in my polish because of the way I was seated. That has only been done to me at another place, because it was jammed on a weekend… but it was basically empty when I came in, so not sure why she had me awkwardly balance this pillow on my lap while she did the mani. Oh well, I live almost walking distance, but will probably drive to Aislinn, a few miles down the road, and they do a much better job, and a bit cheaper, newer, and cleaner…

My experience here has always been pleasant. The girls at the front desk are very busy, but so very friendly! I have Pink and White Acrylics and it’s always been hard for me to find a good nail tech that does it right. I work in the McLean area and decided to come here. I used a few of the other nail techs but found that Kathy is the best! She takes her time to make sure that the line is just right and that everything is perfect. She is very friendly and thorough! The price is high, but that is okay, I don’t mind paying more for good service!

I stopped in yesterday afternoon to get a polish change on my hands and toes. I’ve used this salon a few other times for fil in’s on my nails and they’ve been well done… probably because they were getting $ 50+ out of me(which is well above average price). At most salons, a polish change for both would be $ 15-$ 17; imagine my surprise when it turned out to be $ 27!!! Girlfriend didn’t even do that great of a job, and she was critical about the fact that I brought my own polish and she didn’t like the brush that came with it. This morning I discovered that the polish had already started coming off one nail at the tip. I am not amused. The place looks nice but it’s VERY expensive for the quality of service that you get. I’m definitely going to think twice about going back.

I’ve gotten my nails done here twice and they are pretty good. I have no complaints, except for one of the hairdressers came by and said I should get my roots done and did I know they were only charging half price for color that day? I told her thanks, but since I was pregnant I was waiting a little longer before dying it. But thanks for making me feel like crap when I was pregnant and already feeling ugly!

I have been going to Modern Day Spa for over a year for various services and was told by the staff there that they had a very low score here on Unilocal and i was shocked. I started going there for massages which are great, I recommed Amy, she only works Saturdays though, but she is so worth it. I started going because that is where my wife got her nails done by Vicky, who she raves about, although my wife doesn’t want me to tell everyone how great she is so that she will always be booked. The staff was always very friendly and let me hang out with my wife even though I wasn’t getting anything done, then I started getting pedicures. Let me tell you guys if you have not gotten pedicures before, don’t get all manly about it and say«I’m a guy, guys don’t do that» if you don’t you will be missing out. I use Cathy for pedicures and she is wonderful, she always takes her time and I have never felt like she did an incomplete job because she was rushing to get to her next client. If you are going to visit I recommend either Cathy, Vicky, Cindy(who is very nice and funny) for nail services and for massages Amy, there are no words to describe how good she is.

I have been to this salon/spa many times as I had managed to find an excellent hairdresser by accident. She was excellent, but ended up leaving the salon due to issues with management. The stories she told me about the inner workings of the salon were scary! I was very sad to lose this hairdresser. After the hairdresser left, I figured I would never be back to this salon. However, since it is located inside the Tysons mall, it is very convenient. I tried out several of their massage therapists and the experiences vary. One therapist massaged me so hard that I HURT the next day. Now, I do think that a good massage means some deep tissue pressure, but I do not believe that I should not be able to move my arms the next day. Another therapist talked the entire time despite my never responding to anything she said. Yet another therapist managed to make it seem like he was not even touching me. I had to continually ask for him to use more pressure. So, it can be hit or miss. Like Christine E., I have been overcharged at this salon. It only happened once, but they did make it quite an ordeal to get my money back. Service is okay here, but I can’t say that I recommend this place to very many people.

I came here for an eyebrow wax before a major interview tomorrow. The waxer jerked my head around and got wax in my hair. WAXINMYHAIR! I got to my car to inspect the brows a little closer — yep, I have to do some additional tweezing. As for the wax in my hair — I’ll have to use some oil on that. For $ 15 I’ll pass. Never again going here. The additional star is for the very nice and polite receptionist. I wished she did my brows instead.

I went here for the first time yesterday evening to get a manicure while waiting for rush hour traffic to die down. I’m usually very picky about where I go due to health hazards(I’ve heard way too many scary fungus stories at nail salons), but I just wanted to get my nails painted so I thought it would be harmless. Upon arrival, the receptionist was very friendly. She immediately had me choose a color and sat me down(it was fairly slow at the moment). There were three nail techs in the corner of the salon talking very loud in Vietnamese(nothing against them) and giggling. They saw me sitting at the station and continued to chatter for the next 5 minutes, just glancing at me(maybe they were talking about me? oh well). I tried not to get too peeved, being that I had some time to kill, but I did think it was pretty rude. Finally my nail tech came by and she just roughly grabbed my hands, no hi or hello. Not even any eye contact!!! What horrible customer service. The entire time she was painting my nails, she spoke loudly to and constantly giggled with another nail tech that was across the floor. When she finished one hand, she literally lifted my hand and pushed my palm to the side… WTH? Once she was finished she had me sit with my hands under a fan and she simply disappeared. I sat there for 15 – 20 minutes so my nails could completely dry. As any other person does, I examined my nails and noticed how sloppily painted they were. There was polish marks on each of my fingertips and around some cuticles. By this time, my nail tech hadn’t even come back to check on me, so I got up and went to the front desk to pay and get out of there. At the front desk, the receptionist also disappeared and a nail tech rang me up. I politely asked her for a cotton swab with nail polish remover on it so I could clean my fingertips by myself and she annoyingly glared at me and asked who did my nails. Another nail tech chimed in and said«Tiffany did it,» and like I said, she was nowhere to be found. So whoever rang me up is who cleaned my fingertips for me. I thanked her and left and I will never be back again! I don’t recommend this place, use your money at a nail salon where customer service and quality work actually matter to them!

In the spirit of disclosure, I’ll go ahead and put a few things out there: I’ve gone to this place easily more than 20 times, not so much because the service is great, but because its location is convenient to where I work, and therefore serves as a nice place for me to wait out the dreaded northern Virginia rush hour. I can be awfully fickle about this place. Though the receptionists know me well, and are fairly nice, they’re not always the brightest. Pretty, just not the brightest. Example: I’ve been overcharged TWICE at this place, and it wasn’t until I looked at my receipt afterwards that I realized it. What’s more, they made no attempt to contact and notify me of the error. To me that translates as, «Oh look at that, we screwed her over. Oh well, if she doesn’t call then it looks like we just made $ 50 extra bucks.» False. Consequently, the spa director is very familiar with my face. That isn’t to suggest that I’ve never gotten good service here. If you’re lucky, you’ll happen upon an aesthetician or massage therapist who knows what she’s doing. Unfortunately, my favorite aesthetician is no longer there, but in the way of a good massage, I highly recommend Samantha – great technique and genuinely listens to her clients. Bernard is also fantastic. For the ladies, don’t get Juan Carlos, he got a bit too comfortable during my session. Suffice it to say I gave him hell when he tried. As a general note, don’t get Mandy. She might look harmless, but she’ll wreak havoc to your muscles. Prices are average, with the massage starting at $ 85. They do have great deals on their products though, and that for me is worth the trip.
