McLean Automotive Service Center

Prices are greatly inflated. Kept a vehicle for two additional years by going elsewhere on a big job I could not afford here. I had to go a bit farther out in the burbs, but these guys were out of sight ridiculous.

My family and I have been going to McLean Automotive Center for over 15 years and we have never been disappointed. Wayne is such a nice guy, and always has the answers to my questions. He’s always courteous on the phone and estimates the time the maintenance will take very accurately. Over the years McLean Automotive has done almost every single one of my oil changes (except one time when I went to Jiffy Lube and they charged me $ 20 more) and completed almost every single one of my inspections. I am always pleased with the results from this place and highly recommend it to anyone in need of car help.

Ordinarily I wouldn’t take time out of my day to review an automotive service center, but I guess it’s because I’ve never been to one as responsive and accomplished as this place. It’s no wonder it’s been around for decades. I only went here because my regular place fired all their technicians in one day and this was the next closest place. Man was that mass firing a huge plus for me ! These guys are great !!! I’ve been working in McLean now for 23 years and I can’t believe it took me this long to find this place. I haven’t been there once where I haven’t left and said to myself «I need to go on Unilocal and review these guys» … After the third visit I couldn’t stand it anymore so here I am… if you’re anywhere in the McLean area this place is without a doubt the Steve Jobs of service centers … Don’t think twice about it — I hate taking my car in for service anywhere — this place has changed my outlook!

A friend recommended that I get my safety inspection here and I never thought I would enjoy waiting for my car as much as I am. I asked the manager, Wayne, for some car advice and he gave a professional and unbiased answer.
Being a young woman, I’m used to grumpy auto shop «professionals» trying to take advantage of my «lack of car knowledge.» But here, it was different. Wayne, John (the owner), and his Friday crew were extremely friendly, honest, and trustworthy. They went above and beyond my expectations. Roland even put on my tags for me!
I will be returning and recommending many friends and family members.

We take all of our cars here. Cadilac, GMC, BMW and Mini. It is like stepping back in time to when everyone was treated like a friend and work is done honestly and very well. We take our cars here for inspections, repairs, new tires, you name it. Make sure you give a little extra time to chat with these fellows. They are an awesome group of men. Always willing to go above and beyond!

I have used these folks for years, for service on a variety of different cars and trucks. I know a fair bit about cars… I know the common scams that some unscrupulous shops use to get more repairs and extract more cash… The folks at McLean Auto are honest, fair, and they have never failed to get a repair done right the first time, at a fair price. I usually deal with Wayne.

We are a military family that just moved to the area. After going to a popular franchise automotive center to have our car inspected, I realized that I had to have a few things fixed before it would pass. I dropped by the shop just before closing and the guys were still extremely friendly and courteous, not rushing me out the door. The next morning I dropped my car off and received an estimate. When I returned, I was pleased to learn that the guys did all of the work I needed plus one thing I didn’t even ask them to do! The best of it is that they fixed everything I needed to pass the inspection AND they gave me the inspection! The total cost for EVERYTHING was $ 20 less than the quoted price, which was also less than half the amount the national franchise tried to charge me. Please please please support this business. The people are friendly, fair, honest and do great work. I will only go to McLean Automotive for my car maintenance.

I’ve been using this shop for many years on a wide variety of vehicles and have always had excellent, fairly priced service.

We had a complicated car issue. We are in CA and our daughter’s car broke down in VA. McLean Service was exceptionally prompt and honest in resolving our long distance problem.

I had some car trouble and they checked it out and they explained the problem to me and referred me to a transmission shop who could do the specialized work to fix it. I appreciate their honesty. Their service feels better than the chains, which will charge you a lot just to diagnose your issue. I will be back if I need a repair. Wayne does a good job with customer service and is a friendly guy. Thanks.

I have been using this service for many years. They have never provided anything less than excellent service to me. I would not take my car anywhere else. My neighbors and friends use them, as well. Everyone is very satisfied with them.

I asked them to check the condition of my car’s timing belt and was told «The only time I check a timing belt is when I’m replacing it.» The rest of their service has been consistent with this, and I no longer give them my business.

i wish i could give less than 1 star. my car stalled and sputtered down the road, so i had it towed to the nearest auto shop. i called the next day to check on my car and the mechanic replied «yeah, its making funny sounds.» which even as a non-​mechanic i could have told you. he followed on to say «yeah…it sounds like it would be difficult to figure out what is wrong… so you should probably just buy a new car.» WHAT.
do not go here. period.
i had my car re-​towed to the mazda dealership and they fixed my car in less than 12 hours.
