Food is okay, but customer service is pitiful. Who ever heard of charging an extra $ 5 for extra cheese, lettuce, pickles on a burger and bbq sauce, when i don’t want other condiments? Id rather spend my money where they care about customers. They’d rather lose customers over toppings on a burger? Disappointed. Plenty of other good placed to eat.

Why is it so damn cold but the sun is shining? Totally beside the point but while I was walking aimlessly I decided to stop in for the Hawaiian Chicken Salad. It’s everything you could ever ask for in a salad as long as you’re asking for chicken lettuce cheese and pineapples. I love it. But I was freezing so I ordered chili. $ 6 I was excepting a small bowl. They gave me a huge bowl. I’m estatic. Usually restaurants charge you a lot for a little. Not here. Love it. I might be in the bathroom for awhile but it’s good to be regular. Only downside is they didn’t have crackers. But whatever.

Green Beetle is a go-to for delivery rotation. The Cobb salad is always good and fresh, and you can’t go wrong with one of their massive burgers or sandwiches. A Memphis tradition for decades.

I’ve been here a couple times now and have been satisfied both times with the food. The atmosphere is kind of bar-like, but it was pretty dead, even at peak dinner time. I have to say, though, that I didn’t mind having a quieter meal. My boyfriend ordered the ribeye and was satisfied. He said that for the price, it’s not bad. However, it certainly wasn’t anything too special. Although he ordered it medium rare, it was definitely rare. He didn’t seem to mind. Where else in Memphis can you get a decent steak for $ 10? I got the patty melt, well done with swiss. It came to me medium rare. The waitress was very accommodating when I sent it back, and even brought out extra fries(the seasoning was great, by the way!) I was actually very impressed. The Texas toast with swiss, sauteed onions, and secret sauce were a perfect combination. When I visited last year with a Groupon, my dad and I tried the catfish dinner. It had a nice kick to it and they had a good variety of sides to choose from. Definitely not a bad option. Although it’s nothing outstanding, I’d definitely go back for something basic like a burger or some catfish. If nothing else, I’d absolutely go back for the fries. Worth a try!

We had lunch at the Green Beetle today. What can I say? The atmosphere, the outdoor seating, the food, all fantastic. I had the Bandito burger, amazing! The GF had the fried catfish, equally amazing. Now, this is a place we can and will recommend to our friends. We can’t wait to go back.

I went there by chance while exploring South Main Memphis during a sunny afternoon and came to know that it is the oldest tavern of Memphis. Both people and food are great.

First time eating here, and I must say I’m satisfied. Very nice whole wings(not small ones that really look like party wings). I tried the bayou seasoning and it’s just right. Not too salty. not too spicy. I got my order to go, but I spoke with a very nice young lady while I was waiting and she gave me her best recommendations! Keep it up !!

The southwest chicken sandwich is amazeballs! Omg, LOVE it! I also think it’s pretty cool that the current owners are descendents of the original owners! Did you know it was hunted? Yeppers. Great staff good service. Warrants a repeat visit in the future. If you are looking for a place to drink they only carry beer and coke products. The sweet tea was good.

Truly one of the best burgers in the city. I went back last night after not having been in a while. Several in my group balked at the $ 12 price for their burgers and sandwiches until they tasted them. Portions are generous. The burgers are tasty and cooked to your specification. They’ve changed their alcohol to beer only. I do miss their spaghetti and wine night special. I guess there wasn’t enough interest for them to keep it. They do still have a steak special on Monday nights. Service is friendly but can be a little slow if they get busy, especially at lunch.

You can’t go past the sweet potato waffle fries. We had to order seconds. Good location only two blocks from Beale St. A great spot to chill out on a Saturday afternoon with friends over a few drinks. Our waitress Liz was friendly and fun.

Little dive bar type of place. Went to see a band here and had a great time. Their burgers are delicious! They have a decent beer selection, no craft beers but quite a few regular ones to choose from.

What a great old bar with some really good food! It’s rich in history and in a great part of downtown that has really surged forward in recent years. South Main can almost be as packed as Beale on some nights. Each time I’ve been I’ve gotten such a really cool laid back feeling while being there. One time they had a couple guys performing at the front and they were great. The servers are attentive, friendly, and efficient. They give you just enough room without you ever having to look for them. I’ve had the Bandito Burger and the Catfish. Both were shockingly good for the total Dive Bar setting. The burger was one of the best I’ve had. Juicy, seasoned well, cooked perfectly, and presented like a place that would demand $ 20+ for a burger. It was beautiful! The Catfish was excellent! The breading was almost perfect and the fillets were the size of my hand!(I have a size twelve shoe) Seriously, they were huge! Tasted incredible too! The mashed potatoes and Mac and Cheese are homemade and damn tasty. They have big thick steak fries as well! They have a great local beer selection and a full bar. My only gripe is they only had one IPA to choose from, Lagunitas… Boo! I’ll be back!!!

A $ 10 rib eye, we had to give it a go. The steak was pretty fatty but well cooked and tasty, served with a huge baked potato on the side. You really don’t go to the Green Beetle for a steak, you go for those awesome Burgers, which never disappoint, the Tuesday $ 6 Burger special is plenty to split and comes with steak fries. This is a great dive bar and lives up to it’s history. The Trivia nite on Thursday’s is super fun. The wait staff and bartender’s could not be nicer! We were there very recently and were told they only served Beer, no liquor or Wine. I could have sworn I have had Wine there before…

Loves. Love their Trivia on Thursdays at 8:00, love their bar food(especially that burger), love how they’ve renovated it(ummm SO much cleaner, if you haven’t been here since they’ve redone it, whole new vibe), love the people who work here, love the people who come here, love the live music, love that they deliver, love the location on S Main… I just wish they had a little bit broader wine selection but I can deal obviously. OH! And I LOVE the history of the place… it may actually be my favorite part. The building was constructed around 1906 and the Green Beetle opened in 1933(which makes this the oldest operating Memphis tavern). It was a popular speakeasy during Prohibition and rumor has it that Machine Gun Kelly(a Memphian!!) shot it up one night! Apparently there are STILL bullet hole in the paneling behind the bar. And their slogan? An adorable, «Have a beer here, your grandfather did.» :) Doesn’t get much more Memphis than that!

We went there for downtown dining week. Thursday night was trivia night. The trivia master was great and they had a big crowd. It was a lot of fun. We Unilocalers even had our own team. My girlfriend had the mushroom burger. It was juicy but not greasy and the bread was to die for. I had the catfish fillet dinner. Two fillets were huge and the breading was very thin the way I like it. Both dinners came with steak fries which I like. Has the neighborhood /dive bar feel and surprisingly great food.

This is a very interesting place and they have one of the best burgers in town! I tried the basic burger and it was quite delicious. They are also huge! The smallest option is a quarter pound! We had a variety of burger options at the table and there were nothing but complimentary comments all around! The fries are nice, thick steak fries. It seems that they have a limited cocktail menu, but there should be an option for everyone.
