Went there for the first time on Sunday January31st. We got there before they opened but the owner had just pulled up and said he would open early for us what service. The food we had was excellent and so was our server. Will definitely go back there again and would suggest those who have not been there give it a try

Not the same sobelmans. I was so hoping I would love this location it’s slightly closer to my home than St. Paul but man the service is slooooow excessively slow. The wait staff avoids your eye contact so you can forget about that soda refill. The buns are dry not like St. Paul location, the patties are not the same a little spice goes a long way. So yay it’s an affordable place to eat. Hooray but meq has plenty of good establishment to choose from without driving to Milwaukee. So I think sobelman you need to get you act together if you expect that small town to support you and not the ma and pop joint down the street let’s start with your staff a little kindness goes a long way. Maybe add the salt to the burger instead of your customers.

With all of the hype Sobelman’s gets, I was shocked at how completely ordinary the burger was. A big group of us went here for my Mom’s birthday and we all left with the same sentiment — nothing«bad», just okay and forgettable. Would definitely go to Between the Greens(formally McCarthy’s) in Saukville for a killer burger in this vicinity before going back to Sobelmans. (Service was just fine, as was the atmosphere, and prices were normal.)

I was looking forward to checking this place out, as I have visited the St. Paul location on several occasions. I wanted to wait until they got all the kinks out and give them the best opportunity to let«it» shine. Well, I was disappointed. First off, it doesn’t even look like there has been any change at all to the place since the new ownership has taken over. The same mirror, the same outdated and very dirty coolers behind the bar, broken drawers, etc. — it just looks like they threw up a Sobelman’s sign and called it good. A little love could have gone a long way… a missed opportunity to restore a landmark. The food was less than appetizing. We ordered two apps(bacon wrapped jalapeño cheese balls and breaded wings) — both were(at best) OK, but nothing to rave about — pretty much frozen fried stuff that looks like food. The burgers were also(at best) OK, but lacked flavor — not what I had come to know as «The Best Burger in Milwaukee.» The best part of the experience was the bartender/server — and the fact that I didn’t have to shell out a ton of money for food that I’d rather have not eaten after having gone. There are several similar places in the area that serve a tasty burger — of which I’ll reserve my appetite for a different venue, even if it does cost me a few more bucks. I will return to Sobelman’s on St. Paul someday — I hope that the problems we experienced aren’t contagious…

One nice thing about Sobelmans is they don’t try to be something more than they are – a burger place. They offer a nice selection of preconfigured burgers, or you can customize your own. They are friendly with customizing as you like it. With that said, one of the oddities of being in the former Centennial Bar & Grill is that Centennial had more dinner options, whereas Sobelmans is predominantly burgers. This must certainly have an impact on who goes here. Seems when it was Centennial that it was always crowded – always had to wait for a table. I went to Sobelmans on a Saturday evening(6:00) and I got right in. No wait. And no wait for others while we are. So it appears the change has negatively impacted the crowd. To get the crowd I think the Sobelmans(as in the owners) should be more connected with the customers. I saw the husband and wife owners walk around talking with staff, but even after making eye contact with me never came over to ask how everything was with our meal. Doing so might have made my wife and I feel like we were now friends with them – and we like to support our friends. Just a missed opportunity, IMHO. The wait staff was friendly and prompt, while not being annoying. The food was good. The $ 6.00 Old Fashion was in a double glass, which was nice. All said, we will be back because the food was good and reasonably priced.

Great burger GREAT Bloody Mary. I took a party of 7 for lunch(burgers and Bloody Mary’s) on the day before Thanksgiving. It was very busy. We had a great time! The food and service were perfect . This place is fun! The most unique Bloody Mary’s I have had in Milwaukee, and that says a lot in a town known for Bloody Mary’s and beer chasers. The prices were less than I had expected. Try the Bloody Mary with the slider, it’s a meal in itself. This is now my go to place for burgers and Bloody Mary’s.

I love the Bloody Mary’s. I have had the hang over burger and its was very good. It does get a bit messy. Service is ok. Does get very crowed. Not sure I get some of the one star reviews from only one review people but maybe they are honest. This is a burger place not the four seasons.

Went for a Friday night dinner around 7:30. Our group of 2 was seated immediately. Didn’t seem like anyone was waiting very long for seats. Our server Victor was great. He greeted us a few minutes after we sat down to check on drink orders and see if we had any questions. I had the loser burger and a classic Bloody Mary. Both were very good. Service was fast and we never felt rushed. The fish fry looked a smelled very good so that’s probably next on the list. A nice edition to the North Shore

Dump. Don’t waste your time and money; from the disgusting restroom to the crappy uncared-for ambiance, to the marginal food and service, we were very sorry we travelled to Mequon for this. No stars for this place. Not from us.

Great spot for a quick lunch and a brew. The cheese curds are off the hook good. The macaroni bites are pretty insane too.

We are a family of 5. We arrived @ 6pm on a Thursday night. The restaurant was pretty full. Regardless we were seated promptly and the server was attentive. The food was great. Glad to have them close to home!

Overpriced mediocre burgers. Was truly taken off guard when I read they were ranked top 50 in the Country. Waiter had about as much personality as someone on life support.

They’re rated as one of the top burgers in the Milwaukee area but I sure wasn’t wowed. Good service, great beer menu but a dry burger doth not make a top rated burger. Sorry Sobelman’s but I was disappointed.

I have visited both all of the Sobelman restaurants and was interested to try the new one. As you can see from the other reviews it has gotten a bad wrap for service and food complaints. I believe the restaurant had been open for around 2 months when I ate there and I had nothing wrong with my experience as a whole. We arrived later at night so the restaurant was almost empty. The servicer was attentive and the food was at the standard to all of the other restaurants. Personal Opinion: Initial bad reviews were from a new set of staff at a new location(which is relatively standard for a new restaurant) I am looking forward to having a Sobelman’s closer to home

Went there last night and the food was amazing! We got the bacon wrapped cheese curds and sobleman burger. Everything was so good! A 30 minute wait seemed to fly right by as we grabbed drinks at the bar. Overall loved the place and will continue to go there! I suggest others go there as well!

I really love sobelmans and was SO excited to get one close to home on the North Shore but this place is not even close to sobelmans. The location is awesome; centennial was a very cool spot. The drinks were great The service is awful. The 2 servers we’ve interacted with had not even ever been to a sobelmans and seemed to have no clue about the menu or serving. Many were carry overs from centennial– the good and the bad. The food; well, it was almost inedible. My «well done» burger came out medium rare. Their response… offered to microwave it. When I asked for just a cooked one they said ok; but would only take my patty and brought out another patty 20 minutes later on a side plate. My entire group was done eating before it even came out and what came out tasted like a frozen burger at a school — it was not a sobelmans burger. The entire table agreed this was not only not a «sobelmans» burger this was just simply a disgusting attempt at burgers and service in general. So bummed; but hoping someone else doesn’t waste their money.

They are still in a start-up mode and I expected a few wrinkles. Give ‘em a break, folks. I was glad to hear they retained a good amount of the Centennial staff. My burger was as good — and maybe better — than the St Paul location. I’d heard the MU spot doesn’t turn out as good a burger and was a little worried. Didn’t need to be. My wife had the Friday Fish Fry which wasn’t great. I dunno, I wouldn’t think a burger place would turn out a good Fish Fry anyway. We had good timing and arrived before the wait time started to creep up. That might mean pre-530p. Tables seemed to turn fairly quickly and we were mindful of that so didn’t linger. The parking lot is a major problem. Really tight, really difficult, and a lot of goofs who can’t park between the way-too-narrow lines. If you have a choice, drive the smallest car you have. Not a lot of options except maybe invading the Ferrante’s lot across the street(which I’m sure won’t go over very well).

We were super excited to check out this new location in Mequon, as it’s much closer to our home. Unfortunately, we left feeling extremely disappointed, and an hour later extremely irritated. We went on a Thursday night. There was a half hour wait which is to be expected. They were able to get us seated quicker by placing us in a back room, at a table top facing a wall. To their defense, they did ask us to take a look at the spot first and gave us the option to say no, but we were hungry. It ended up being a mistake as it was very hot and uncomfortable with little air circulation. So don’t sit in that back room! Service was slow. We ordered an app and each got a burger. The dinner came out way before the app, huge pet peeve of ours. We had to ask for refills. Really just subpar service. The quality of food wasn’t the same as the original location, I did have to get my order fixed after it wasn’t brought out how I ordered it. At the end, we left not completely satisfied but willing to come back for another try in a couple months after they worked out the kinks. Unfortunately, we became extremely irritated an hour later when we went to pay for our groceries and realized we didn’t have our card. The waitress left it at the register and didn’t bring it back with our receipt. I understand it’s something we should’ve caught while there, but this shouldn’t have been a problem in the first place. We had to drive out of our way, they gave me a hard time giving the card back, and were unapologetic except for a quick sorry. Not cool! We will stick to the St. Paul location.

Note: Sobleman’s on St Paul is awesome. We were really excited to have this location in the ‘Quon open and are looking forward to seeing it hit its stride and become more closely aligned with its other locations. We went here on the 2nd day it was open. We were able to sit immediately, at 5:45pm. The server was a legacy employee from Centennial, the restaurant that was in the location prior to Sobleman’s. My wife’s burger was ordered well done and it came out medium. No biggie, we sent it back, but it took awhile to get a replacement. Overall, the burger doesn’t taste the same as what we’ve come to expect from a Sobleman’s burger. The bun was dry, not brushed in butter. The burger was dry and without spice. We’ll be back in a couple months to try it again; and will update review if necessary.
