El Asadero Taco Shop

Good little Mexican food restaurant. Carne asada hard tacos were really – the chicken enchiladas not so much. Kids love the rolled beef and chicken tacos (taquitos). Fair prices, not a Bad place to eat.

Everyone here was friendly and the portions are huge for the everyday special plates. We came in right before closing because we’re traveling, and they were very nice to us. I loved my fish taco, rice, and beans.

I have only been here once, and picked it because it was so highly rated. The food was quick and the staff were friendly, but it wasn’t anything to write home about. It seems comparable to most sit-​down restaurants, but without free chips and salsa.

This place is awesome, would recommend to my BFF! The food does not take long to be mad and it is very delicious.

Probably my favorite burrito spot in Merced. The guacamole is so good and their burritos are HUGE. Cheap food, good quality. No complaints.

It a no no. Just no, poorly service and it didn’t even taste fresh. The chef were just chatting and sounded like they were having a good time not taking care of business. No thanks.

Stopped by here on the way home from Fresno. Didn’t expect much but the reviews were good. Food came out so fast and guys behind the counter seemed like some goof offs, I was expecting much. Hands down 5 stars. Burrito was marinated so well, I had to get another to go. And they fill it with a lot of meat and prices are cheap. Most definitely a reason to stop by Merced.

Unilocal is wrong. They open at 8:30 am (not 8 am) on a Thursday
No napkins, no containers for salsa bar, not attentive.

Once in Yosemite we hiked to Mirror Lake, bridelveil falls and lower Yosemite falls. Tomorrow we hike to vernal falls in morning.

This is the best taco shop in town and that is a pretty big statement. Their chile verde burrito is to die for. Also super nachos. Really anything.

They have the best fried fish tacos! But DO NOT order the shrimp tacos. Who puts rice in a taco!?! If I wanted rice, I would have ordered a burrito.

Love this place! Staff is extremely fast with your order. Food is great. Authentic Mexican food.

We were coming home from Yosemite, skiing. The reviews were great, so we thought we’d check it out. Wow. Super good. I wish this restaurant was in our area. ALL our party of 9 loved it!

If you’re ever in the mood for cheap and fast but good Mexican food, then this is the place to go!
I usually get the California Burrito which is super good or the tacos. I was a bit disappointed in their pastor tacos but that may just be because my friend over hyped it for me.
This may sound weird to order a burger from a Mexican place, but the burger was surprisingly really really good. It’s $ 5 and comes with fries. The meat just tastes different than burger you would get at other restaurants.
I haven’t personally tried their breakfast burritos yet but my friend told me that they are super good as well.

It’s a hit and miss place.
I use to only come here and get chips and salsa. I might have to go back to that lol
I went here about 6 months ago got a chicken burrito supreme and threw up about 10 mins after eating it and I haven’t gone back since. We went back recently and I got something else lol it was pretty good. It’s just basic fast Mexican food. They do have burgers and fries but I’ve never tried it before.
It’s usually busy lol and every time you order over the phone everything takes 5 mins lol I always wondered why. The inside is ok, just tables and chairs nothing fancy. Something I have noticed is it’s a little dirty like they do not wipe the tables off after people use, maybe every other time.
Their salsa and chips are delicious. I’m probably going back to only ordering that.
My opinion. Probably cook at home.

I am very disappointed in this taqueria. It used to have really good food, and it was worth going there. I think they must have changed cooks. But the owner, el güero as they call him lol, hes stingy. To start off, he gets frustrated when you change your order, and to top it all off, when you ask for a to go box he gives you like two cheap little napkins, and even if you order a combination plate with beans and rice, he’ll ask you if you want a fork! I mean its to go, so what do you think? You also have to ask for salsa cups being that they’re behind the counter… so you don’t take too much. I ordered three different plates, obviously for three people, and when I asked him for salsa cups he gave me a single cup. When i told him it was for three, he finally gave me three cups. And the food is not so pricey, but its not cheap. I dont think its worth coming here anymore.

For fast Mexican food, this place is my go-​to shop in Merced. I’ll keep this short and to this point. The meat tostada is great for a quick bite, horchata is cheap and delicious, and the carnitas are to die for. The first bite is like a meaty heaven.

Place is good. Prices for the combs are a extra good deal. I ordered a tostada & chicken taco. Tostada was typical, the taco was a let down. Dual tortillas with chopped &seasoned chicken period. I e seen carnitas tacos with guacamole served like this but that way different kind of meat & still you get guacamole. So 3 stars.

I love El Asadero. I am a regular here and the only thing I order here is the California Burrito. I have tried their soft tacos and tamales, but California Burrito takes the cake!
Soft tacos: They are delicious and have great portions. At a regular taco truck, I would order 5 tacos because they are so small. At El Asadero, their tacos are big and they do not skimp you on the meat. I always, always, always get carne asada. The taco comes with meat of your choice, lettuce, cheese, pico de gallo, and guacamole. It’s not your traditional soft taco, but it’s delicious. I normally order 2 – 3 and I’m good to go. In my opinion, this is not their specialty but it’s good.
Pork Tamales: I only ordered this once and it wasn’t too bad. The masa was a little dry, but with the sauce that they pour on top, it helps with the dryness. The sauce they pour on hot is a red sauce, and on the side includes some lettuce, cheese and sour cream. Worth trying at least once, but don’t expect too much.
California Burrito: This is the holy grail. I’ve never tried a burrito with french fries in it. This is the most unhealthy burrito I’ve ever had. What’s inside: meat, cheese, sour cream, pico de gallo and french fries! Pour some hot sauce on this baby, and it’s amazing.
The pricing here is very reasonable and affordable. They give you large portions and does not skimp on meat. They have excellent customer service, I’ve never been disappointed. Give this place a shot, better yet, give the CA burrito a try!

Breakfast burritos all day is a good start to my visit here! I ordered the bacon burrito. I can take down a lot of food, but I thought the burrito was a perfect size to feel stuffed but not like I wouldn’t be able to move for the rest of the day! The cheese, beans, and bacon were all delicious inside with my only complaint being that some times the foods were a little more segregated than others and I’d end up with just bacon, or just beans, etc… Not a huge problem but the mixture of all the flavors were so good that I preferred it immensely. If you go, I’d definitely try a bottle of Jarritos, very refreshing!
