Great Clips

Julie completely screwed up my hair. I asked for a trim and we agreed that one inch would be taken off. She went about her business and then spun me around to see and I actually laughed because I couldn’t believe she was serious.
My hair grows unevenly and instead of shaping my hair she followed the edge and gave me an uneven cut one inch shorter. She’d also cut in some weird shelves and a point. Apparently, she couldn’t see my dark hair over the dark cape so had to take the cape off and catch my sweater multiple times while trying to comb through.
She was getting noticeably flustered and it seemed like she just wanted to be done. She would cut a couple times and ask «is ok?» snip, snip «is ok?» snip «is ok?» I had to repeatedly point out obvious problems but finally told her to stop because I just wanted her to stop touching me.
It took her FIVE INCHES to salvage something resembling a decent cut. My once long hair is shoulder length. How this is her job is beyond me; a 4 year old with a weed whacker could have done a better job.
On top of this, she charged me twice. She couldn’t figure out the cash register and I had to go back the next day and get a refund. It’s bad enough that I had to pay for this disaster at all.
When I got home my boyfriend knew exactly who’d cut my hair. He used to be a customer too but gave up on them several cuts ago. I won’t be back/

How hard is it for a trim? Don’t go and see the Korean lady! I had to tell her to stop! Didn’t want anything fancy but I left this place with some fancy hair that looks like Edward scissor hand or a five year old cut my hair… If Unilocal had a zero star I would vote for zero.
The only good thing about this place is the greeting you get when you walk in the door. «Hi welcome to great clips.»
Someone would tell me to have them fix my hair before I left but what’s the point when I pointed out that my hair was all jacked up? And she tried fixing it but again I told her to stop… Don’t go here if you have long hair!

They don’t take American Express. When I tried to pay with American Express the lady at the register was not kind at all. Being a national chain you would assume that they would accept all major credit cards.
Also, the haircut wasn’t that great.

I come here every two weeks and really enjoy the warmth of the staff.
The place is clean and the staff is compassionate about their trade.
Gina, is the best! Every time I visit she knows exactly what I want and does a magnificent job.

Great and friendly place to get a hair cut. Make sure you check in online there is usually a little bit of a wait time. Victoria knows how to do a great fade! Clean place and has toys for kids.

I had some not so good hair cut in the past.
I’m glad I finally happened to find a good hair stylist here. I always check if she is there before I go, since they don’t take appointment. It seems she cut differently than others there.
It is almost always no waiting time, just walk in and get it done fast.
The parking is always easy on the street, although they have parking garage which I can not find it easy.
The price of the simple hair cut without shampoo is cheap $ 16 for adult.
I need to take a shower.
It’s 4 star because I have to shake lots of hair out of my shirt that stick and prickle.

We all know where the best place to get a great haircut on the island is (rhymes with Rare Nextell), but as a last minute ditch, this isn’t half bad; especially if you do the whole online check-​in thing (that I’m positive is enforced and engrained in the sweet ladies there by their handlers, because I can not go into this Great Clips without them telling me about it), since it gives you a discount the first time you do it (not sure if it still exists). All in all, this Great Clips is ok. It’s not the best place to get a haircut on the island. But for the price, it’s also not the worst either.

I saw my boyfriend get his haircut here. It was a simple buzz cut yet the lady who was doing it messed it up — how can you mess a buzz cut up? She had left his sideburns sticking out at a weird angle, so we had to go back in to get that cleaned up. Also she had no regard for keeping the hair off of my boyfriend — most hair stylists are rather cognizant of getting a lot of hair on the customers.
Also, when we first stepped in to ask the front desk if they even did buzz cuts, the lady kept on asking our name and if we had an appointment. Lady, we just wanted to ask a question first!

I used to come to this place in their old location by the Subway/​Teriyaki shop strip area on Mercer Island; and have since continued coming here; but as Chris M said the thin asian guy that used to work there no longer is with them and opened his own business and when I went there I feel that he was the only person that gave a really good haircut.
I am one of those people that doesn’t care that much about my haircut; I’m not looking for a $ 30 — $ 50 haircut; I just get the basic $ 16 haircut; how hard is that to mess up? I find it funny that the business owner rather than take constructive criticism just argues back to people that are just trying to be honest.
«We care a great deal about our customers and have excellent stylists that guarantee the haircuts. The employees are involved in the community and are caring individuals. We have 200 customers per week that use online check-​in so they must like it. I’m sorry if we have offended you in some way. Thank you for taking the time to do a review.»
Why will I not be coming back here ever again and taking 90 5 – 10 minute east to find a haircut? Last time I went here I was extremely tired a bit in a daze and just looking to get my haircut. A lot of times when you get your hair cut your stylist will break the awkward silence with the small talk; that’s fine great cool whatever. My stylist when I answered with one word answers after about 3 minutes gave up which I was grateful for; then literally said something extremely condescending about me to her co-​worker because she thought i was asleep in the chair. What kind of person does that even if the customer is out of earshot but within the store? Not impressed at all; not with the haircuts nor the customer service.

Service was fine but the actual haircuts for both my kids were awful. There was one hairdresser attending to each of my boys so it wasn’t just a case of one person not being good at cutting hair. Both my boys’ hair wouldn’t sit right and looked like small chunks had been cut out of it. It grew out terribly too. I think I can spot the other kids at school that visit this hairdresser as they have the same chunky uneven look! Will be trying a different salon next time. Avoid if you want a decent hair cut.

Not kid friendly, would not recommend. We came in an hour before they close. No customers in the shop, and both stylists are not busy, but seems like don’t want to clip my kid’s hair. I would recommend bringing your kids somewhere else.

The hair cut was fine, but the Chinese hairdresser purposely distracted me by playing with my receipt at the cash register & short changed me. I should have suspected something when she didn’t want to give me the receipt but kept twisting it on her finger until I had to say «is that my receipt you’re playing with». She builds in a generous tip without telling you. I have no patients with dishonest people. I won’t be back-​ever.

I have been coming to this shop (myself and my kids) for over ten years (it used to be located across from the Starbucks and recently moved to a new location across from the QFC next to Noah’s Bagels). What I like about this place: that I can just walk in and get my haircut whenever I feel like it (sometimes I just have the urge to cut it off right this second!) and I prefer the convenience of not having to plan too far ahead by making an appt at a full service salon, though the new online check in feature (you can do it via the Great Clips phone app or via the web) is great because it gets you in the queue before you get to the store so try and do that before you leave the house, while you are shopping at QFC, etc. to avoid potentially waiting when you get there.
I generally bring a picture in with me to illustrate what I want done and am very specific– everyone who cuts here is competent if you are clear about what you want done and my cuts have ranged from good to excellent, depending on the stylist. I’ve never been disappointed or upset with a cut here (ironically the worst haircut of my life occurred in high-​school at a very expensive salon so not only did I look like a poodle, but I paid $ 100 for the privilege– never again!). I can’t recall exactly how much the cuts are here but they are less than $ 20– for that price you won’t be getting a neck massage or an hour of talk therapy with your stylist but I prefer to get in, take care of business and get on with my day so this type of place works for me.
The store in the new location is brand new and clean (I always find hair on the floor gross, I like that they sweep this place between customers). I’ll keep coming back here for the good value and because I like supporting a small business that’s been on the Island for so long.

This is the second time I’ve been here and I love it. I don’t normally get good haircuts because of my very curly hair but they did an amazing job. I will always be a loyal customer to this shop!

I went to this salon in its new location twice. I feel that I got a reasonable hair cut at this shop for a reasonable price. One time was better than the other.

This is a great shop! Love the new super classy location and layout. I got a great chisled cut and amazing blow-​out today. I am so pleased and will be back for a style Tuesday Thanks guys! Also, an 11month old boy was getting his hair cut & the staff was so attentive to him and his mother that he smiled his way through the entire cut. I had so much fun with my stylist and will be bringing my nephew here in the future!

New and Improved!
I had put off coming in to Great Clips as the last cut I’d received at the old location/​management was awful, but the frizzy ends needed tending and I was broke, so I tried the new place. The new location next to Noah’s Bagels is bright and cheery, and there is ample free parking in the garage behind the shop. The new owner is friendly but not obsequious. Those of you who’ve had bad experiences, let him know. He struck me as the kind of guy who values customer satisfaction. Bradley (?) cut my hair and OMG! Best. Haircut. Evar. He has 20 years experience and it shows. Get in there now before an expensive salon snaps him up. You will not regret it. Then run next door to Noah’s for a nosh :-) If you’re short on time, use their online check-​in. It’s also available for Android and iPhone.

Was expecting a regular haircut with a few barbers who didn’t give a damn. This was not the case! I went in there and was seen immediately, had a good conversation with the barber, I had no idea how I wanted my hair cut (it was about 4 or 5 inches long) and told the barber to shorten it and keep it a little shaggy. Well I have requested this before at a supercuts and gotten uneven cuts, botched sideburns and other random screw ups. This was actually one of the best haircuts I have had in a while!
