I lived in the area for more than 5 years so I have memories of coming over to Ms. Apples Crab Shack. I knew that I wanted to visit the shack again during my last visit in Florida so my friends met me at the shack. We had crabs and shrimp and they were too die for. The scamp sauce is what I remembered years ago. The only thing is you literally have to buy everything even the to go boxes.

Lobsters, shrimps, corns were delicious! We ordered some entrees from their menu. Too bad, we had to microwave the pre-cooked entrees packaged in styrofoam and plastic boxes in the microwave there. And, there isn’t any indoor seating, we had to sit outside in the patio to eat. Giving 4 stars for the inconvenience of having to heat up our own food and eating at the picnic tables.

The crabs are good but don’t expect any customer service. The cashier yelled at me cuz I didn’t hear my receipt number. Horrible customer service and hopefully there will be someone else open up a seafood restaurant with better customer service and no attitude. They charge 50 cents for Togo bags !!! Bathroom was dirty as hell.

Interesting, intense, and hostile space coupled with tubs of fresh seafood. We could not easily figure out how and what to order… and struggled a bit with the pricing. Some items were pre cooked and you are directed how to heat them up in small microwaves tightly positioned against the wall. Weird set up! Ms Apple runs the register and did not give off warm and fuzzy welcomes to our questions about ordering. We ended up getting four small lobsters(freshly steamed), a pound of baked potatoes(which we microwaved), 4 ears of corn on cob(we microwaved), and we added 1 ½ lbs of fresh large shrimp. $ 92.00… We brought our own cooler with beverages and sat at a Picnic table, under a roof surrounded by everything we needed(table covering, paper towels, a fan and trash cans). Fresh lobster is always delicious, I cannot wrap my mind around pre cooked/microwaved so the corn and potatoes-we would not order again. We asked for Cole slaw and it was sold out-The shrimp will bring us back… large, fresh steamed then covered in a garlic butter… Outstanding! There was notable tension behind the counter, but everyone is working very, very hard. The work is quite obviously labor intensive! I would like to try the crabs. I will bring my own cole slaw, however. The sides are just not appealing to me.

I’m visiting from another state and was looking for a place to grab some delicious seafood. I read on Unilocal and found this place to be raved about so I decided to give it a try. We came around 6pm and they were closing at 6:30. By the looks of it there were plenty of people still ordering their foods. We were greeted by a woman who asked what we wanted to eat and such and being first timers, we really didn’t know what to order. She obv told us what the specials were, what was good, etc. but her manner in which she asked what we’re going to get felt as if she wanted us to make a quick decision and leave because they were«closing soon» as she had stated. We ended up ordering TWO #5s …What did we end up with? Refridgerated NUMBERFIVEANDNUMBERFOUR. Refridgerated… we couldn’t even eat any because it was so cold. I had to drive all the way home and heat everything up(which is when I realized they gave us the wrong order)…Sadly the crabs they had given us were all premature and weren’t fully developed, leaving us with mostly just shells and mini bits of crabmeat. Such a disappointment. I won’t be coming back here just to be given the wrong order AND being ripped off by having been given shells. Two stars for the woman having doing her job and providing us info on the specials and what’s good and whatnot, otherwise my experience would be a one star

So fresh and delicious. Not too salty. Very yummy. We enjoyed lobster stuffed with crabmeat and garlic butter, shrimp and crab legs. Even the sides were awesome. Boiled Eggs with garlic butter and covered with crab. A must visit. We sat outside watching the sun set. MS. APPLE is nice as well.

Ok. I heard so much about this place and being an everything crustacean lover we had to go. Great location and the restaurant looked like it went through alot of renovations and expansions. When we pulled up the smell of old seafood was manageable but alarming. Ms Apple was all over the billboard and entrance. I did not expect to see a «ms Apple» figure on our Wednesday afternoon visit but there she was, exactly like her picture but a bit more weathered, tongue pierced and looking like she is a fan of ping-pong balls. I was blown away of how sweet she is, she told us to picked out our own live crabs; grab a seat outside, she’ll prepared it and come back in 10 mins. Our crab and shrimp was prepared with all of Merritt Island’s garlic and olé’ bay. I was in Heaven!!! This is a must-go if you are around Cocoa Beach/Merritt area! !

Pros: It is very fresh and taste amazing. Cons: You have to microwave the food. I love Ms Apples garlic sauce. It tastes so good. We got shrimp, calms, snow crab, crab, and potato and corn combo. My favorite was the calms and the corn. It was fresh and juicy. I would definitely recommend. The only problem was that you had to microwave your food and there’s no free water available. They only sell bottle water and soda can drinks.

We love to find the unusual, even better when it includes good eats. Stuffed crabs & rock shrimp were very tasty with a dining atmosphere you don’t experience very often in our strip mall world.

Food wasn’t fresh. They were out of blue crabs. We think they try to hide the not so fresh seafood with loads of garlic butter slathered on everything. Maybe we caught it on a bad week? Recommend not trying the conch salad… it was horrible and old. 2 stars goes to the guy in the parking lot with fruit and coconuts in the bed of his truck. He cut a coconut and gave us straws to drink, then cut it open so we could eat the flesh, all with a machete. The highlight of the stop for sure. A zillion other places in area to go for seafood.

Fresh fresh fresh! We had steamed lobster, stuffed lobster, snow crab legs, fresh raw oysters, corn and potatoes. Delicious! Palm trees swaying, the fresh smell of salt water to clear your lungs and light music right by the water. Note: Not a restaurant. But they can steam your seafood or you can bring your own seasoning or order one of their precooked meals and reheat. Tables w seafiod hammers for cracking shellfish. You can select your own lobster, blue crab and oysters. They have shrimp too and other seafood so definitely worth a visit!

Best seafood I’ve had in FL. Most self proclaimed seafood places in FL are all fried food very difficult to find a inexpensive n good steamed seafood. Big portion n fast… I know uve to microwave it yourself but it cuts down overhead. I don’t need be waited on would rather pay fair price. Perfect for parties as you can get it day ahead n reheat or buy fresh crabs. Didn’t give it 5 stars because it can use some improvement. Highly recommend providing disposable crab picks n a detailed receipt along with telling customer how much will be charged to card.

Oh. My. Goodness. All I can say is I wish I was eating there right now. It’s THAT good. Some people may be turned off by this type of establishment, but do not(I repeat, DONOT) judge a book by its cover. If you’ve never been here before, it can be kind of intimidating. Huge tanks with crabs of all different sizes, fresh seafood displayed in ice, and the smell of the ocean. A very helpful employee probably noticed my boyfriend and I looking around cluelessly and helped us. Yes, unless you pick out your own blue crabs, the food is served cold in containers that you heat up yourself, but the nice fellow working there assured us the seafood is never frozen and it’s always fresh. You choose seafood combinations from an extensive menu board, nothing is more than $ 12(UHYEAH), and you wait for your number to be called. Patiently, if you can. There are no tables inside, no waiters, no frills: just deliciousness. After you heat up your food in the microwave, you can either take it to a picnic table outside or just simply take it home. When you first open that container and see your seafood just swimming in that delicious garlic butter sauce, it’s like you’ve died and gone to crab heaven. We read reviews before we went and brought a few beers with us, but you can purchase canned pop and water there. Also, if it’s possible, bring crab crackers with you because they don’t provide anything except a community mallet attached to the table. Germophobes, beware! We were visiting Florida for one week, and we ended up going three times. If you’re up for something different and you’re not afraid to get messy(because you will!), RUN to Ms. Apple’s Crab Shack. You won’t be disappointed: you’ll just have lots of crabs and a happy tummy.

Stumbled upon this place and it is excellent! You get to pick your Live Lobsters and Crabs for them to steam and prepare for you. Excellent food and a ton of fun

We came here to check out the hype for ourselves. I took the acclaim from friends & rolled with it. Unfortunately, I didn’t get enough info prior to our visit. We failed to catch that the take-out selection is pre-packaged & served cold. If you’re dining from that menu & choose to eat on-site, you’ll be directed to the microwaves. Meh. That’s disappointing. It was after the fact when we found out about how to score there. Best to choose from their live tanks & have them steam your picks for a nominal charge. Unfortunately(again), the live tanks were empty. Perhaps, it can be explained by our timing of the visit & their hours(or days) of operation. They are closed on Sundays & Mondays. We’ve made the trip to the establishment twice in which the first was a failure. We’ve thought about making the detour on our several Orlando road trips. Doesn’t seem likely we’ll be able to give it a real fair shot. But that should speak to the importance of consistent service.

Mark A. & I have been attempting to try this place for moooonths! I purposely scheduled a trip to the area specifically to eat at Ms Apples only to find out she was on vacation for a month! Womp. So we finally made it here when they were open as a pits-stop on drive up to St. Augustine. There were no live crabs in the pools. Maybe because we came on a Saturday, and they’re closed Sunday and Monday? So it was the end of the week for them? I was not expecting a frozen plastic box to be microwaved there, so that was a bit of a disappointment. It was still fairly good, though. Nice to sit outside and just go at your seafood. I guess it’s probably best to buy the live crabs to cook at home, rather than pick one of their microwavable platters.

At first look, this is more a seafood market than it is a seafood restaurant… even though there are plenty of people sitting at the picnic tables outside or people waiting for a table to open up. Inside there’s a flurry of activity as people are grabbing their blue crabs or workers picking out people’s orders into packages. Behind the counter, is a slightly grumpy lady who I presume is the owner. Workers there are very friendly and helpful, even as I wandered around looking aimlessly to see how to order. On the right side of the restaurant has a big board on the wall with the various combinations of dishes available. After waiting a few minutes, our number was called and we were served our dishes each in a plastic container with loads of buttery garlic goodness. The dishes need to be reheated and there are a bank of microwaves opposite the menu on the wall. Each dish has a specific cook time in the microwave, but most were in the 2 – 3 minute range. My first thought was microwaved food can’t taste very good, but I was surprised how yummy everything turned out. The buttery goodness certainly contributed to the rich flavor. People tend to bring coolers with homemade sides, like rice or bread, to eat with their dishes. The clams were fantastic and the crab legs were tasty, definitely recommend trying both. There are brown paper rolls available where you can pull out and put over the picnic tables outside. Along the side is a sink with soap and paper towels to wash you hands before and after the meal. Its a fun experience overall and the food was good, definitely worth the visit.

Every time we go to Cocoa Beach this is a must do type of thing. It’s kind of like a ritual for our family. «Ms. Apples» is always so friendly regardless if she has one or twenty people in line! We have never had a bad meal here and I think we’ve had just about everything on the menu. Of course you come here for the crab but the lobster, clams and other seafood items are really worth trying. There are also side dishes here that are fantastic and reasonably priced. From the potatoes, corn on the cob, crab deviled eggs, seafood rice etc., it’s all great. This is not really a restaurant. You can select from the menu items and heat them up in the microwave or live crab and they will clean and prepare them. Then you take your wonderful selection outdoors, set your table up and use the little hammers and start chomping away. It overlooks the bay and there’s a little bar/bait and tackle shop next door. Go grab a beer and take it over to your table to enjoy. I’ve seen large families bring their rice cookers and just picnic outside, eating crab for hours! This is more of an adventure than a simple dining experience that both locals and tourists can be found with mounds and mounds of crab being cracked. Warning: it is messy! Don’t be afraid to get dirty! Give it a try! When you’re done eating, stroll around the bay for a bit or head straight to the beach. A great way to start your day/vacation.

Best. Seafood. In. Florida. The boyfriend and I absolutely loved it. If you’re down to get a little messy with your hands and eat some southern comfort food this is the place. Next time we’ll do as the locals and bring some beers and sides but the crabs, lobsters, and shrimps were off the hook! Definitely coming back!
