Always come here, first time for lunch. Service is always fast. I came in around 11:20, ordered by 11:25 and had my foot by 11:30. This gives me enough time to eat, sit here and write this review and drive back to work. Not bad. Food is good and chips and salsa are perfect as always. Two thumbs up to Michelle, great service.

Very mediocre Mexican food… awful queso, please do yourself a favor and don’t order it. I ordered the brisket tacos which were very small and not much flavor. This was my first experience at an El Fenix so I’m not sure if the bad food is just this location or the chain in general.

First time at an El Fenix, and I gotta say that I’m a fan! Enchiladas were good, beans and rice were great, and the salsa is fantastic! Had a great server, as well! Will be back, for sure!

I LOVE El Fenix and the Mesquite location has been my favorite for over 12 years! As a regular, they know my family and me. They even know when we haven’t been there in a while. I could start naming memu ite. s, but I swear all of them are an explosion of delicious flavor that leaves me planning my next trip before I leave the table. When friends and family visit, the first place they ask to go is back to El Fenix!!!

The only thing I loved here were the free chips, salsa, and guac. The hot foods were more like leftovers and microwaved. I didn’t quite get a real authentic Tex-Mex here in Tx. California over Tx.

It’s a good place to eat no complaints … But for someone who eats texmex often it doesn’t impress me. Otherwise If u aren’t sure if a texmex place to choose, then I’d recommend it’s worth trying

Best cheese enchiladas and margaritas I’ve ever had for sure! The in house salsa is pretty amazing too. My family’s been coming here for years and I don’t see that changing any time soon

Service is superb, food is always excellent and you must try the sopapilla with chocolate and caramel drizzle and a scoop of ice cream, it is heavenly!

Wow, can’t believe it’s been so long but I’ve been going to El Fenix for about 30 years or so. Yikes. We’ve been in Houston for several years but usually visit El Fenix when we’re in the Dallas area because we can’t find«El Fenix cheese enchiladas» in Houston. We also love their queso and chips and usually take home a couple bags of chips and a large container of fresh queso(not the stuff in the jars!) so we can enjoy them in Houston. Unfortunately our food during the recent visits aren’t quite the same as we remember when we lived here and before the takeover by Firebird. The rice has been changed and reminds me of rice made from a mix in a box. So we’ll just have to order double beans from now on. And my sister’s salad had a sad, lonely slice of avocado on her salad. Wish we had taken a picture. Service was a bit harried as our waiter didn’t write down our orders and had to come back as ask us for a reminder. But, all in all, I’m glad El Fenix is still in business and will continue to visit as long as they don’t change the chips and queso recipes.

Good service, but the«queso» is just nacho cheese imo… and why put ¾ cup lettuce and ¼ cup guacamole? Salty chips and not really any kick to the salsa… but the enchiladas I had where decent… would give 2.5 stars but can’t and 2 seems too low.

It was just ok went for dinner chips were great beer was cold salsa nothing worth writing about. I had the beef fajitas I found them to come out way to fast so precooked and less than five min but they were ok I did like the onion rings on top tortilla didn’t taste as fresh as I would like. Service was nothing to complain about but nothing to write about price was fare. Beer was over 4 overall it was just ok nothing special was wanting more but I was in Dallas not San Antonio. Doubt I will be back nothing bad but nothing stood out either.

Was in the area and asked Siri to find us a place to eat. This place came up. Wow, it was awful. Nothing is made in the kitchen. Has to be all Sysco. Taco meat was nasty, Queso had no good flavor. Guac was alright, but they shove so much lettuce in you can’t enjoy the entire bowl. Meat sauce was not tasty. Chips were good. I’m from Houston and we don’t have taco buenos, but that place blows this place away.

My first time here and I was not impressed. They were extremely busy since half of Dallas didn’t have power. maybe i will give this place another try in the future when not so busy.

I am not a fan. I’ve been multiple times, and every time I leave quite a bit of food on the table– not even worth a to-go box. The enchaladas are mushy and gross, and their salsa is blah. The chips are consistantly stale and in need of salt, and they taste re-fried. The salads aren’t good, and the drinks are weak. The place is in need of a little makeover, and the service is not the best. Over all, I’d really rather just not go.

Be warned, the chips are addictive. This North Texas institution has been cooking up Tex Mex for gringos before your grandmother was born. You might say they know a thing two about it. The Mesquite location is placed along the Restaurant Row next to Outback Steakhouse and Red Lobster. You cant miss the sign. Inside you can expect a wait time on weekends and sometimes at lunch. The $ 4.99 Enchilada Wednesday deals are legendary, and other competitors across the DFW area offer similar deals on Wednesdays based purely on the innovation of El Fenix. The menu ranges from hardcore Tex-Mex to some authentic Mexican dishes, to some new lighter choices that were added when the company was purchased by a 3rd party a few years back. I will typically get some sort of Enchilada combo plate, as these are the best things here. AVOIDTHEFAJITAS! There are far better places to find Fajitas. The highlights at El Fenix in Mesquite are the service, the chips and salsa, and the Enchiladas. The con’s are the rising prices, bloated menu, and location. Anything is a better choice than Jalapeño Tree.
