I love this place. Has the feel of a neighborhood bar and restaurant. Informal but very nice. First came here with the eat club from New Orleans and it was terrific. Soon became acquainted with the happy hour and half priced oysters and two for one drinks is awesome. Great Italian excellent seafood and wonderful salads. The wait team is great always suggesting great specials.

What a bad place to try and eat! After a long wait the fish came out dry and very over cooked. When the owner was walking around asking people how their meal was I told him it was dry and over cooked. He looked closer at my dish and agreed that it was over cooked. He didn’t offer any resolution but simply said that I may want to order something different next time. Really!!! Your a f*#%#%g idiot, there won’t be a next time!!! I left the entire entire untouched and just left. Hard to believe this place has 3 stars

I’ve been to this place several times and most of the time it has been pretty good. They have a varied menu. I had lunch there recently, and it was not good at all. Ordered the lunch special, Soft Shell Crab Amandine. It was basically a small to medium soft sell crab sitting on pasta with about 2 sticks of melted butter. The amount of melted butter on the plate was alarming, almost a ¼ of inch of it. I asked that the plate be brought back to the kitchen and the excess butter be drained off, but even then it had way too much and made my stomach a little queasy. In addition the«Amandine» sauce had no flavor. I’m no chef but amandine should be more than just melted butler. Maybe some lemon juice or Worcestershire sauce? Lastly the dish was $ 19.99 and didn’t even come with a dinner salad, just one crab, pasta, and butter… lots and lots of butter. Not sure I’ll go back.

We had dinner here the other night as part of a group function(a friend celebrating his 70th birthday). We were in a separate room from the main dining area so the ambiance was different. As we were waiting for the last of the invitees to arrive, the wait staff brought out several plates of some great onions rings followed by plates of fried eggplant fingers with a decent marinara sauce. That kept us happy until everyone was there and the server could take our orders. As this was an event, we had the option of the gumbo or a salad and a choice of three entrees. My wife and I opted for the Caesar salad. I ordered the catfish platter that came with fries & slaw. My wife had the eggplant Parmesan over angel hair pasta. The food was decent. The service, considering the size of the party, was fast and efficient. The chef came by to checkout how everything turned out. He was proud to tell us he uses local catfish. There is plenty of parking with an overflow lot.

Their seafood gumbo is a bit watery and could use a thicker rue and more seafood. The shrimp creole leaves the tail on which I’ve never had in any other version of this dish so you get to take those off(I’m fine with peeling my own shrimp but this isn’t peel and eat shrimp). They have a decent selection of NOLA style food with the majority of the seafood being fried. There is a raw oyster bar so you can get your fix here. The service is generally attentive and friendly. Overall its a decent place for lunch if you are nearby and need a quick meal.

Went on Saturday night around 8:30pm, and had a super awesome experience. Our waitress was French and so pleasant, which added to the French aspect of the restaurant. We got the mushrooms and spinach with cheeses appetizer and it was brought out promptly. Our waitress checked on us enough, but not too much, just right and kept us extremely happy. I ordered the special: oysters in a white sauce with bacon. It arrived warm and with possibly the best and freshest, softest best seasoned French bread I’ve ever had. The oysters were cooked to perfection. They were light, crisp and amazing. My husband had the combo seafood platter with catfish and oysters with French fries and also loved his. He would have easily eaten 2 platters. I have already told a few people about our experience and honestly cannot wait to return. I’m thinking about the shrimp next go round. I HIGHLY recommend this restaurant if you’re having a romantic date or if you’re hungry before or after you get off the Causeway and want the best seafood you’ve had in a LONG time. These people know what they’re doing. 5 stars

Excellent! We stopped in to get some food before crossing the Causeway and were pleasantly surprised by this cozy restaurant with great food and superb service. We ate in the lounge and William, the bartender, served us and was extremely cordial and knowledgeable about the area and his drinks. We will definitely be back!

Place is nice cause it’s new. Staff was nice but a little unprofessional. Seems like no one really runs this place. I went to play $ 10 in their video poker in the lounge area and I asked the bartender if they had change and he didn’t have keys to the register and had to go get it I won and had a ticket and same thing. Had to find the owner, who wasn’t there to cash it. How can you run poker machines like this. I don’t understand. My food came out cold, but it wasn’t bad and isn’t expensive, but there are just too many good places to eat in this city than to waste your time going here. They do have $ 6 oysters m-f from 3 – 6 but Blind Pelican on St Charles has $ 3 dozen raw everyday from 4 – 7 and $ 8 chargrilled as well at the same time. This place really isn’t impressive at all in this city

Have been here several times now. Easy parking. Have never had a problem getting a seat. Pretty good food that is reasonably priced. Nice atmosphere. Fast, friendly service. Grilled oysters come 3 ways as others have noted. OK but not great like their competitor down the road. Gumbo is good. I had the speckled trout once that was panned instead of fried and it was really good. Have also had the BBQ shrimp. Again, they were good but not great like the place uptown. Fried food tends to be better. My wife likes their salads. Nice portions. Good for lunch and casual dinner dining. The chef was making rounds last time we were there.(Sign of a good restaurant.) Located on West Esplanade just off Causeway. Tip: Avoid going Causeway from about 4.30 to 6.30pm b/o all the Northshore traffic going back home. Instead take Bonnabel or Cleary or Clearview to West Esplanade and come in that way. Best to come via Bonnabel as the restaurant is located on the north or lake side off West Esplanade and you can go right into to parking area. If you come from the west you will have to loop around on Causeway which could be tricky during rush hour.

Went for lunch today. First time here. Good: Our server was very friendly, and attentive to table. The Onion Rings were awesome Now the lotsa bad: the seafood gumbo was more like an oily soup, needed lots of salt and had little to no seafood. Between apps and gumbo, the food took way too long, about 15 minutes to come out. Then not all entrees came out at same time. I had the Blackened Redfish with carrots. The carrots basically were steamed but with no flavor or butter. The Redfish was an average-to-small square«steak» that was completely overcooked. In fact, I had to cut the edges with my fork… no redfish should be that tough. Sadly, I would not go back to this place anytime soon.

Location, parking, and ease of getting a table are all a plus here at one of the few dine-in restaurants in the Metry CBD. We had one of the three preparation options of grilled oysters with red peppers as an appetizer. It was OK. Oysters were small, and they weren’t all that tasty. Will probably pass on oysters next visit. My entrée was the grilled/blackened redfish served with jambalaya and a side of mac & cheese. I asked that it be prepared without salt, and that request was easily — and truthfully — accommodated and appreciated. The redfish was a great size for lunch or dinner and I enjoyed it thoroughly. The jambalaya was bland, probably purposefully, and with a few taps of tabasco, it was just right. Mac & Cheese was really good but a little oily. My sister had the gumbo which she said was too salty, unfortunately. The menu was quite large with all of the New Orleans favorites available, and some which were done specially by the restaurant. Friendly, courteous, attentive, and importantly, quick, wait staff that made it easy and enjoyable to dine there for the little time I had for lunch break. Overall I give it a 4 star rating for lunch. As an aside, there was a lounge area and bar, but no draught beer I noticed. Too bad. Probably a fun place for happy hour(with TVs) and $ 6/dozen oysters.
