I have been a returning customer for years. NEVER had a bad or unpleasant experience. Welcoming staff and warm atmosphere, quiet restaurant compared to most restaurants. Fresh food, tasty drinks. Sad, heartbreaking week for corporate close a restaurant with such amazing staff. I will miss the guacamole, spinach dip, hand cut fries, fresh vegetables with your entrée, grade A meat steaks, flavorful soups and amazing desserts. We will miss you Metairie’s Houston’s staff, you made the place what it is today!

I looked so forward to going to Houstons for my anniversary hadn’t been there in a couple of years so we were both excited, well I WASSHOCKED. The menu has changed it is a lot smaller the entres— well I got an appetizer artichoke it was terrible. I will eat almost anything but there was nothing I wanted to eat on the menu sadly we left after we had our drinks. The wine glasses were different, wine kind of nasty what happened. Has to be a new owner can someone help me out on this. I will never go back. The only thing I saw that they used to have was the salad with fried chicken otherwise not much else. So disappointed must be a new owner.

I have to give it a three star. Not the type here to write negative reviews but… This Houstons does not run as well as others I frequent. You come to Houstons for consistent quality and service. Employees stand around and talk here a lot more than other locations and are more interested in talking about taking their kids to the zoo than serving guests. I know the food and beverage industry is tough and employees are hard to manage these days. This manager here is probably more relaxed than others. I know the locations in Dallas and South Florida run much better. My advice would be to have the regional check up on this locations management/GM.

The staff are very friendly and the salmon dip is divine! However, today I had the fried chicken platter it was more like the fried chicken skin platter. For the price I felt like it should honestly be chicken and not batter! When the manager comes up and asked how everything was I told him that I didn’t have but two actual chicken pieces and the rest was batter; he then tells me no that’s all chicken… I was done so I guess he saw my shocked face because I’m sure he was calling me a lier in a nice way and he brings out 3 more strips(still mostly batter)! If I was eating at Chilis then I wouldn’t be upset with the plate but this is freaking Houston’s! I will stick with the double porkchop and hope for a good outcome…

This was my first time at the location on Veterans and I had a pleasant experience overall. Nothing to complain about. After reading reviews, I wondered if I should have stuck to the St. Charles location, but I didn’t feel like anything was lacking at this location. Food was good, our server was great, and the wait wasn’t too bad.

I used to eat here all the time when I lived in New Orleans. The quality of food was good and the price was appropriate. My last three visits here I was not impressed. I’ve left disappointed. The food is overpriced and quality just isn’t there from years past.

Very Pleased! Before we sat down they had a baby chair waiting for our little one. The waitress is friendly and attentive, she even asked if we needed a bottle filled for the baby(that’s a first after 6 kids and 19 years!!!). Spinach dip is very good. Chicken plate is excellent and so is the Thai salad. Ambiance reminds me of restaurants in Los Angeles in the 70s — subdued lighting, candles on the tables, soft music. Very nice and something I miss in dining out today. The manager runs a very good restaurant. The staff is polite, efficient and their appearance is impeccable. And as stated the food was excellent. All signs of a well run restaurant. We will be coming back.

Just had lunch here… Way below average. We are frequent customers of the St Charles Ave location and it’s very good there. As for this branch NJ The only thing good was the French fries and the salmon appetizer. The salad was meh, the fried chicken platter taste like its come from the freezer. The server was inattentive. We won’t be returning.

The 3 stars are for the ribs. I think Houston’s has some of the best bbq ribs around however I prefer the Houston’s on St. Charles for some reason. Nice ambiance. Parking is relatively easy when Chili’s isn’t packed. Nice servers.

My wife and I came here for lunch one day and were a little disappointed. We ordered the spinach dip as an appetizer and found it to be bland. The filet mignon was just ok, and the grilled salmon was a little better. Portions were small and service was slow even though it wasn’t very busy. Not worth the $ 80 we spent(not including tip). Probably won’t be going back anytime soon

Last 3 times I ate with friends I said I’m never coming back. This time is for real. Attitude servers, bad service, cold/raw food. My bf was throwing up in parking lot from raw chicken on her salad. Waited 20 minutes for an ice tea. The old Houston’s When they wore the starched polo shirts was awesome. Whomever manages it now should be ashamed I work right next store and clients want to go but no more for This girl. The last experience they pushed me over The Houston edge plus we have so many other Restaurants in our city that actually appreciate You being there not just a top In their section!

I know everyone has beef about the prices at Houston’s. And I’ll admit when I first came here I was a little taken back by the fact a cheeseburger was $ 15. But I kept hearing these rumors about them having an amazing burger so I just had to take the plunge and give it a go. After all, it IS Houston’s so obviously it’s not exactly a casual dining experience. Let me tell you, I’ve never had a $ 15 cheeseburger before… but it’s pretty worth it! When the server told me that each burger is prepared with freshly ground meat for the day I wanted to just write it off as one of those fair weather statements the manger enforces the serving staff to say. But after eating this thing I totally believe it! The meat tastes super fresh and was perfectly cooked to medium rare perfection. I was so impressed by my experience that I went back and got the French Dip Au Jus later on that week and was equally impressed. You can tell they indeed use giant portions of quality prime rib. So don’t let the prices deter you from coming to Houston’s! Just remember your definitely paying for top quality. And I don’t mind shelling out a few extra bucks for worthy quality. It’s only when you spend the extra bucks and DON’T receive outstanding quality food that disappoints me. The staff was very friendly and looked like they genuinely enjoyed their jobs(which is sometimes a rare find). Although we went during peak lunch and dinner hours, we received excellent, timely, and friendly service both times. As a side note, they are also really good about substitutions and customizing things for you. My aunt wanted a specific dish that’s was no longer on the menu, but they made it for her anyways which was nice of them.

I am writing this review for the General Manager Sean. He is always very welcoming and friendly. He walks around to almost every customer and welcomes them to Houston’s and asks how their day is going and also how they are enjoying their meal. When I tell you, he makes sure the restaurant is perfect he really does! He is a phenomenal manager. Keep up the Good work! My family and I will be back! P. S.- the lump crab cakes are to die for :)

While in Metairie on business, a couple co-worker’s and I decided we needed a seafood break and hit up Houston’s as a good, meaty alternative. I had eaten at a Houston’s once or twice many, many years ago, but I knew it had a good reputation for being a quality chain restaurant. After a short wait we were seated and drink orders were placed. I was actually kind of surprised to see how small the menu was, not many appetizer choices and the meals were limited. To start with, we ordered a couple grilled artichoke appetizers. This was the first time I’ve had this, so I have no others to compare it to but, it was good! I enjoyed it. I also had a caesar salad, and it was FAB. Cold, crisp lettuce with a spicy, tangy caesar dressing, cheese and croutons, perfect. For my meal, I went with the Prime Rib… oh yes. Bring on the red meat. The Prime Rib was good, but… overcooked :-(I am not one to complain, so I ate it anyway, but it definitely could have been a lot more pink… le sigh. Our service was also not the greatest as our waitress was a bit flighty and forgetful. For the money being spent on dinner, I would have expected better service and for my prime rib to have been prepared as ordered. But overall, a decent dinner that hit the spot. However, not sure how excited I’d be to eat here again, given the small menu and unremarkable dinner I experienced here.

The ambience is nice but the food is somewhat bland. The trout was suppose to be Cajun but it had absolutely no flavor. The baked potato was good. The ribs and salad were just ok. The chili and spinach dip were awesome.

I’ve been going here since I was really little. Actually this is one of my favorite restaurants and I didn’t realize it was a chain until well into college. about 90% of the time I get the cheeseburger with no onions and no mustard. This last trip, the waitress asked us if we wanted spicy mayo to go with our burger/fries — of course we said YES! The prices have steadily risen at Houstons, as much as I hate dropping $ 15 on a burger and fries, I will still go to this restaurant a couple of times a year. We went because Auburn beat Alabama in the last second of the Iron Bowl so $ 15 burgers were in order.

I love this place and for all the critics who complain about pricing, you pay for what you get. If you don’t want to pay these prices, then don’t. There are fast food places that will take your money. Just don’t expect the service you will get here. I have dined here many times and recently dined here with a large party. They were very accommodating and placed us at a large table since we had a baby and young toddler. Service was prompt, friendly and not at all overbearing. The spinach and artichoke dip is always a MUST. Only gripe is that there are never enough chips but good thing is that they are happy to provide a refill and at no extra charge. I had the grilled salmon with the kale salad. Delicious! The kale salad had a hint of mint, spice and sprinkled with crushed nuts. It was the highlight of the meal for me. I would eat the salad alone in a bigger portion! The apple cobbler with ice cream is a great ending to the meal so save your appetites! This is one of the nicer restaurants in Metairie. Expect great food and superior service!

Houston’s is a mecca for lunch and dinner business meetings where you can find doctors, lawyers, sales reps and pretty much everyone else of that sort. It’s the type of place that has great food at over-inflated prices simply because the clientele put everything on the company card. Apparently there is a regular nighttime crowd which congregate around the bar and collectively drink themselves into tall tales of too much money and ridiculously successful business. What makes Houston’s a good place for people like this is that when you get past the schmoozy atmosphere, the food is actually really good. The salads are especially great and they have the one goody that would make any Canadian such as myself feel a little more at home — poutine. Of course they chose to name it something like ‘Disco Fries’ but it is the same thing and gave me a pleasant bite of home.

One of my favorite places in Metairie/Kenner. The service here is some of the best service in all of Metairie or Kenner. Very fast service and rarely any mistakes with your order. The hawaiian ribeye steak is a staple and an excellent steak. Marinated in pineapple juice, soy sauce, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, and other ingredients for two days makes this one juicy and tender steak. Another great option is the prime rib french dip sandwich(simply delectable!). Two items not on the menu but that are awesome in every way are the chicken tenders and the removed-from-the-menu Biltmore chicken sandwich(one of the greatest chicken sandwiches ever!!). It was a grilled chicken breast topped with arugula, red onions, monterey jack cheese, and mayo. Order the Biltmore. They will still make it for you. In the chain restaurant world Houston’s is at the very top of my list. The Hawaiian steak or the Biltmore gets the job done every time for me :)
