After hearing great things for so long, my boyfriend and I decided to go here for his birthday. Neither of us have ever been but we have high expectations. We were greeted immediately as we entered the door. The restaurant was beautiful. We both got the Ruth’s Classics, which is a prix fixe menu. I got a Caesar salad while my SO got the house. Both were good. Now onto what we were really here for, the steak. I ordered the filet at a medium temperature, while my boyfriend got the ribeye at medium rare. After waiting for some time(and eating a bunch of the complementary bread), we were served our steaks. Mine came out how I wanted, a nice pink color throughout. On the other hand, my boyfriend’s steak was cooked medium well, so it was slightly pink, when he specifically requested medium RARE. So we told our waitress about it and she took it back saying they would make us a new one. Well after waiting a bit, they brought out his new ribeye, and after cutting through the middle, the steak was even more done than the previous one! The waitress looked at it and said that that didn’t look right either. She brought us another plate to put it on so it wouldn’t cook anymore and she asked if we wanted to redo it yet again. Having been there for so long already, we decided against it. She said she would tell the manager and have him have a word with us. Lo and behold, he doesn’t come by. You know, as a steak house, I would expect them to know how to cook steaks at the temperatures requested. All in all, I’d say this place was a disappointment. The salad and the dessert were good, not amazing, but the fact that they had messed up on the ribeye twice is pretty unforgivable… Especially considering the price! If I’m spending nearly $ 200 on a dinner, I expect a lot. I now know to take my business elsewhere.

I took my fiancé’ here for her birthday last night. We got two different steaks, both ordered medium-well. They were definitely well done, no pink at all. We needed to be somewhere so I didn’t bother saying anything about it, so I can’t comment on how they would have handled it. It’s just that, when two people eat and it costs over $ 200, I expect perfection. If anything, they should have under-cooked it so it could be fixed. I wouldn’t have said anything then either because I don’t mind a medium steak. I do not plan on returning. For that price, there are several places in New Orleans where my money would be better spent. As for a saving grace, the sweet potato casserole was one of the best foods I ever tasted. The service was good.

I really love this chain. As a matter of fact it is my go to chain and when I want a steak, Ruth Chris is my first choice. Being from New Orleans makes it all the better. This locale needs a lot of attention with service. When I make a reservation at Ruth Chris I am greeted when I walk in the door. I have been patronizing this establishment since childhood and I will never attend this locale again. I made a reservation for a party of six and showed with a party of five. I WASNOTGREETED. On top of that, when I made my res I was sure to tell the hostess that it would be the first time visiting RC for my party and to please pull out all the stops. RC is an experience and I wanted them to be so impressed that they would continue to dine there at all times. Not so with this visit. I am not sure if it is the the culture of this new New Orleans where service is always a step beneath mediocrity since Katrina. It needs to stop and I am appalled by the lack of training of service personnel in this city. I walked up to the hostess and had to tell her my name. With that it was 15 minutes before my reservation time. I was told that they had to get the table ready. No problem as I was early. My two cousins and I went to the bar. We were not even greeted with a hello by the THREE bartenders who were in attendance. I actually had to ask the male if I could order before dinner. It was not until I presented my platinum card that I was even noticed or treated with a modicum of World Class Service. I also told the bartender that I wanted to close the check after the first drink. I had to ask him for my credit card to close the check. What a joke these staff members were to the name of Ruth Chris. We were not seated until 10 minutes AFTER my reservation time. Not cool at all. The waiter, Peter, was pleasant enough at first but I had to get his attention several times. My aunt’s glass was empty three times and we never saw him. The Waiter in Training, Dennis, was attentive, suave and should’ve been our waiter. Peter was not even present half the time and I have never had to ask a question twice of a waiter at Ruth Chris. Peter’s accent was very heavy and off putting. My manners allow for tipping and I cannot not tip at RC. Just habit. My uncle was so impressed with Dennis that he asked me twice why we could not tip him. Smh as Dennis deserved it. As usual there is NEVER a complaint about the quality and quantity of the food. My family members had never been to RC and they were so impressed with the food and drinks. They had a great time and I was proud that I could treat them. My aunt had the bar b q shrimp and she loved it so much that she did not even share a taste with anyone. My uncle had the chicken and loved it as well. He does not eat much but finished his plate. We had a great time. The drinks were plentiful and good. I had a great time showing my family my favorite steak restaurant but the service at this locale was so lukewarm and not warranted that I will NEVERBEBACKTOTHISLOCATION. There is another locale in New Orleans and I hope that management takes the time to go the extra step to education them on the Ruth Chris service passion. I will try them next week on my Friday routine at RC. This locale does not have it, service pride I mean. Management did stop by but who cares? It is their job and walking the floor is easy. Service keeps customers coming back and sadly, the service will keep me away from this RC forever.

I have visited Ruth Chris steakhouse a few times. This place never makes me disappointed. Many remarkable dishes impress me. Chop salad, crab cakes, gumbo, the steak, ribeye or filet, sweet potato cassrole, and the unique cheesecake. Many others on the menu are good too. This place is the one i would like to go anytime, many times.

The food is not worth the prices. The bread that they put on the table was hard as a rock. The steak and sides were average. I enjoy Outback better than this place.

I’ve been to a lot of restaurants. It’s mostly what I review after spending nearly a decade in the industry myself. So when I was invited to a celebratory dinner at Ruth’s Chris I was excited to finally go and try it myself after hearing all of the reviews from friends, and noticeably that most people go for special occasions. Eh. I was kind of disappointed. Not tremendously, but I was surprised by the«lacking feeling» in aspects of the service and food production. We were a large party of 10 and noticed that our server Marcie had other tables beside us. Normal, typical, not surprising. However, what was unusual, is that she didn’t have support. That is to say she handled us on our own. She didn’t have a back waiter or a beverage waiter to assist her with ordering or delivering food and drink which ended up hurting her bottom line because many of us would have ordered more drinks, had we the chance to order them. I sat through an entire course without the drink I ordered. The food was good but there were hits and definitely misses. My boyfriend and I ordered the lobster mac and cheese and found that the lobster was overcooked and rubbery. The noodles were in a runny cheese sauce and although good to gorge on, not one of the best versions I’ve ever had. The strawberry salad was overdressed and made the spinach wilted and drippy. The steak was GREAT. I ordered the petite filet medium rare with the blue cheese crust and it was my everything. My steak was served with a lobster tail which was also nailed perfectly. The special that evening was a bone in filet, which if you have ever ordered or served yourself, you would know how expensive it is. My dining companion ordered the special filet and it was really overcooked. So overcooked we actually had the server fire another one because if you’re going to spend $ 50+ on a steak, it SHOULD come out the right temperature. Especially at a steakhouse. They gave him a free dessert too to make up for the mistake. Overall Ruth’s Chris is overpriced for food that’s 50⁄50 and disappointing for lack of service, despite their best efforts. I suppose for the price we paid, I would expect MUCHMUCH more.

My wife and I enjoyed a nice dinner here. The parking lot is very small, so If there is no self parking available in the lot, they do offer valet service. We started off with a nice bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon, the only issue we had with it was that we ordered a different vintage than the one they brought out. When it was presented my wife asked why we were not given the year we asked for and the waitress went to check… It was because they had ran out and tried to pass it off without us noticing. We decided to just go with the vintage they gave us but it was a little frustrating when I’m spending $ 150 on a bottle we did not ask for. For an appetizer we got the Calamari which came lightly fried with a sweet and spicy asian chili sauce to die for! Hands down the best calamari we have ever had. For an entrée I ordered the 11oz filet which came with sizzling hot butter upon presentation. It was a very good steak, but from what I hear I should have gotten the 16oz bone-in filet for peak tenderness and flavor. My wife had the Lamb chops which were extra thick and truly amazing! For side dishes we had the potatoes au gratin(extremely bland), sautéed spinach and asparagus which were decent. Will we be back? Probably not anytime soon. I’d much rather spend $ 300+ dollars trying a new steakhouse that will blow us away!

Chain restaurants are never my thing, but the happy hour is legendary. Showed up here with a tank top on not realizing there’s a dress code. The hostess was very accommodating in trying to find me appropriate attire. I declined, but considering I was the asshole in this situation, I really appreciated how the staff here handled it and I’ll show up here more appropriately dressed next time.

Non-local recommendation is to try somewhere else. Though RCS started in NOLA there is nothing original here. Good food if you know what to order. Went with a group so tried a variety of items. Stuffed mushrooms — delicious. Crab cakes and steaks served on sizzling hot plates. Caesar salad way over dressed… 5 star steaks — all cooked and seasoned perfectly. Green beans were garlicky in a great way. Asparagus cooked well but hollandaise was awful — overly whipped and tasted like mayo. Mushroom side needed seasoning. Chicken tortellini soup had pre-made cheese tortellini and served lukewarm. Chocolate musse was excellent — really superb and so was Apple tart. Though some items were great, In a city full of amazing restaurants, can’t say we will return.

Came here for lunch to celebrate the last day of an employer. I had the lamb chops and the loaded baked potato along with a Dirty Grey Goose Martini. Let me say: DELICIOUS. It was the most tender and delicious lamb chop I’ve had in years and the baked potato was just as delicious. The Martini was perfect as well. Just dirty. Afterwards I had the crime brûlée and good grief! It was my first time having it and it was pure heaven in my mouth. It came with black berries, strawberries, and blueberries.

Just because it’s «steak» and it’s New Orleans they have to do the upscale gig and get you paying ridiculous prices for decent but not GREAT free range beef… USDA1. Sure it’s decent grade… but it’s the norm in most states that have REAL free range options. I could just drive to Texas for the cost of one of those steaks and get something right off the range. Is it good? yes. But just because they claim to be the only ones who know how to do steak doesn’t mean I have to go a long with the idea they have to make it «upscale» and price it as such.

Rarely will I order a steak from a restaurant that do not specialize in cooking steaks. Because of the Vets location, if I want a good steak and don’t want to drive too far, I go to Ruth’s. I’ve never had a bad steak there. The only time I had one I didn’t enjoy as much was when I didn’t have them cook it as rare as I like it. In that case, it was my fault. And the service… it’s ALWAYS superb! Hits are always the filet, lobster, crab cakes, creamed spinach, spicy lobster appetizer, and crabtini. The only misses are when I can’t make it there. By the way, the lemon drop martinis are THEBEST!

Always LOVE this place! Best filets ever! Last visit our service was just ok & they overcooked my steak, but they corrected it quickly & politely & the second one was amazing & perfectly prepared! Always love the chopped salad and I got loaded baked potatoes for a change. All excellent. We also get one of the au gratin veggies(broccoli this time) & sometimes the sweet potato casserole. Also consistently good. Would recommend & will be back soon!

Amazing of course! I come here at least once a year and always get the same thing because it is just so good. Best Caesar salad I’ve ever eaten. Filet comes out sizzling in butter. Garlic mashed potatoes and potatoes au gratin are delicious. Great wait staff. Wish I could afford to come more often. Never disappoints. Highly recommend.

I had a disappointing experience here about a year ago and felt like I wanted to give it another shot but didn’t want to risk dropping a ton of money only to risk another unfortunate overcooked steak experience. So, I went for the We Live To Eat Week special and figured that would be a good excuse to give it another shot. Well I’m glad I did because the experience was definitely MUCH better so I felt compelled to update my review as they have redeemed a few stars in my book. They sat us upstairs in an intimate dining room atmosphere and our server was a very sweet and attentive woman. We got the Steakhouse Salad, cup of Seafood Gumbo, the Petit Filet(Pittsburgh style), Creamed Spinach and Mushroom sides, and the Symphony Dessert. I enjoyed all of it and my steak was perfectly cooked to medium rare perfection with a lovely Pittsburg style sear on top… and did not over cook on the hot plate this time. The symphony dessert was an incredibly yummy cinnamon cheesecake with almond ganache bark on the side that made me sorry I had eaten my whole steak and was therefore very full by the time dessert came around. We had just missed happy hour when we showed up for our reservation… but I did browsed the happy hour menu and it looked pretty impressive with $ 7 craft cocktails and food items such as the Steak Burger, Zucchini fries, and Ahi Tuna. I will definitely be returning to try out the bar specials in the near future!

Ruth Chris is overrated. Don’t get me wrong, it’s nice. Not a fan of the steak. I’ve had better steak at o’henrys for ½ the price. I had the stuff mushrooms and tuna appetizers. Which were pretty good. The spinach side was tasty too. Serves two. The service is what did it for me. Our waiter was awful. I guess I expected more from all the hearsay and price.

I’ve come here for lunch, dinner, and business luncheons and the quality or service never wavers. A few years ago I stopped eating meat and I’m always worried when I go to a steak place that their other options will be sub par. Thankfully, Ruth’s has an amazing seafood selection and its always prepared to perfection! Makes me not miss my steak eating days. The ambiance is your classic old school steak house feel. The only con is that they do not have a happy hour at this location. I guess everyone is a straight up G over here. Right now they are doing renovations to the bar area so fingers crossed that they will add one when its done. You know I love a good happy hour.

So when I do have to travel outside New Orleans to meet friends at a restaurant this is one that is nice to go to. It is expensive but it also provides the food and service at a level to justify the expense. Valet parking is a must do. You should not be disappointed in any way. But I still remember the days of the original Ruth’s Chris on N. Broad at Orleans Ave. in the good old days.
