Best tacos and tostadas this L.A. girl has had since moving to LA. The meat was seasoned so well, the service was fast, the price was right! Carne asada tacos and tostada were on point! This will definitely be my go to from now on.

Do not come here for the ambiance, come here for the amazing authentic Mexican food that is one of the best in Louisiana! Appearance is 1 star, food is 5 star.

One of my favorite places to get authentic tacos. The meat is seasoned so well and the spicy green sauce you get is delicious. I admit this is a true hole in the wall and sometimes the when you order they don’t speak English, but goddam their tacos! Definitely a hidden gem! If they don’t speak English they have a menu at the front counter and you can just point at what you want. HANDSDOWNBESTAUTHENTICMEXICANTACOSINMETAIRIE!

The food is amazing. And the value is unbeatable. I like the tacos, the fajitas, the burritos. Everything has tasted great.

Me and my girlfriend used to come here every now and then for some tacos and we love the green salsa but it’s bad service, last time I went they charged for x amount of tacos and when I got home they were all there minus 1, I called for 20 minutes straight no one ever answered I’m never going back, hole in the wall kinda place.

I’ve been going to this place since they were just a food truck in front of Home Depot on the I-10 Service Road off of Bullard in New Orleans East. Not once have I ever had a bad meal. No, they don’t speak much English(hardly any) and I don’t speak any Spanish, but I am able to communicate what I want just fine. Having been to Mexico plenty of times on work trips, this place is about as authentic as you can get in the New Orleans area. Everything is made in house and the veggies are always fresh. Your dish comes with green and red sauces and a slice of lime. Both sauces are delicious and spicy. The red is spicier than the green. No idea what they’re called or what’s in them, but I have to admit I may have accidentally taken a bottle of green sauce home with me once. After having tried pretty much everything on their menu, my go to meal is the fajita burrito. So good! Parking lot is tiny so park across the street in the business strip mall area. The inside is also tiny with a couple of tables. Telemundo or soccer are always on the TVs they have in the dining area. Order at the counter, take a seat, and they’ll bring your food out when it’s done. One thing I’ve learned is that for take-out orders they will refuse payment until your food is finished cooking and brought out to you. I only have one complaint: their baleadas don’t taste right. I can’t tell what’s off about it. I live with a Honduran family so baleadas are pretty popular in the household. I’ve also had baleadas at authentic Honduran restaurants. The ones at Taqueria Sanchez just taste a bit off. It’s not bad, but it’s also not something I’d try again or recommend. The other food on their menu is much much better.

After reading reviews, I decided to try this place. I will summarize my experience. 1. Parking sucks. You have to park on the street or next door business parking lot. 2. It’s really a hole on the wall kind of place. 3. Very small, just like the picture you see on Unilocal. 4.For most, I am sorry but if you are running a business in America, you gotta have someone who SPEAKSENGLISH. I ordered 5 different type of meat for my 5 tacos, she can’t explain to me what kind of meat she has on her menu. 5. Asked for salsa, she kept pointing at green sauce. I ended up asking pico de gallo. A customer who was kind enough to translate for me, asked the gal behind the counter about pico de gallo. She told him $ 2 extra & I gave her $ 5. Then she gave me $ 2 back. Bottom line, $ 2 side dish became $ 3& the size of picadigalios, it wasn’t worth $ 3. The customer felt bad & he tried to give me his $ 1 but it’s not about $ 1. It’s about service. 6. Food: the most important thing… I had tongue & pork skin taco.(how do I know what I ate? you can tell the tongue & port skin when you look). It was better than I expected. Here is that word«BUT», I know I can have this from another Mexican restaurant with far better service. Why do I give 1 star? Ladies behind the counter was very nice but again, my experience #4 played a big role on my decision to give 1 star. This business is simply for local Hispanic customers. Whoever speaks Spanish, it is a good place to go(I guess). I rather take my business else where who speaks English, understand what I am requesting & asking about my meal. Also who doesn’t change the price after taking my money. THEREISNOPRICEONTHEMENU! so you do not know how much it cost & what they tell you is actual cost. Well, least I tried. I know they wont’ give a rat’s @ss but, hey I really doubt they will hire someone who speaks English after my review.

Never gave this place much thought cuz of the way it looked. But my gf talked me into it and I loved them. The food was delicious. The prices were a little higher than I expected but they made up for it with the quality and presentation they serve. I got tacos, enchiladas and few others. I didn’t eat there but I got to watch some Latino soap operas. Highly recommend this place! And it stares you down when you drive by it.

Friends had recommended this place a long time ago, but since I live uptown it took me a while to get out here. And I’m happy i did. Ordered the chicken enchiladas– great! The rice and beans is awesome too. Note: Parking is a bit tricky.

If you’re looking for authentic Mexican food this is the place to go! I tried the carne asada burrito and it was the best I have had in the greater NOLA area. The salsa verde they give you in a squeeze bottle is delicious. And by the way, this is one of the few places that actually has Horchata!

I think it’s been said in other reviews so I’ll repeat it here. Usually the 1st sign of a great Latin food spot is a staff that almost exclusively speaks Spanish and a menu primarily written in Spanish(with English translations) The authenticy shows in the food itself and the size of the portions they serve you. For $ 20 we were able to feed a family of 3. It reminds you more of a food truck than a restaurant(they operate a food truck as well). The interior doesn’t lend itself well to eating in, and don’t be shocked if you see the occasional roach on the floor. This isn’t the Ritz Carlton but for cheap late night eats they are top notch

This Restaurant was next door to Colby’s Cocktails. Me and several other people made a detour here during the UYE Metry Bar crawl. The people working here were friendly. However they really didn’t understand english that well. So placing our orders was rather tedious. I ordered a burrito with beef filling. The burrito itself was so big that I could not finish it all. I ended giving half of it to another Unilocaler in our group. But this burrito was very good. This place is very small basically a whole in the wall establishment. It is not a really great environment for dining in. I would highly recommend making your order to go. They sell beer here basically Corona, dos equis, tecate and a few other mexican beers. But with all the bars in the immediate area it would be a moot point to try and get drunk in this place. In short great mexican food, but better make your order to go.

This is exactly the kind of thing that I wish was closer to my office I don’t need the rice or beans that come with a huge plate of food at the sit-down Mexican restaurants… I just want a few cheap, delicious tacos. The hubby and I ordered 6 tacos and split them. Filling enough for dinner and it was like $ 10-$ 15 for both of us. Cheap. It isn’t gourmet, by any means, but the meat is well cooked and seasoned, the toppings are fresh, and the verde sauce has a nice kick to it(use sparingly!)

Checked this place out on Steve I’s Metry bar crawl with the gang. I had heard about it a bunch(probbly from Steve) so was excited to try. The food truck craze always has me craving tacos so how perfect was this. The place itself is… spartan to say the least. It’s an old trailer that is hopefully anchored down in some way. But maybe not. Anyway I decided to try the«lengua» or tongue tacos and a basket of chips and salsa. We brought our selections back to C. Beevers and chowed down. I scarfed mine because they were so good. The chips and salsa were great too. I will def come back and get some grub to go. BTW they sell beer too.

You ever look at a food truck and think«Dang, I wish I could crawl up in there and sit down to eat»? Welcome to Taqueria Sanchez. This place is in a mother fucking trailer that squats cockeyed to the I-10 service road by Clearview. The ambiance sucks but that doesn’t matter because the food is good, served in large portions and for reasonable prices. In particular, I like the tortas, which are seriously the size of a football and stuffed with all kinds of good things. I prefer the the barbacoa and steak to the chicken and tongue. The rice and beans are tasty. They have horchata and aqua fresca which are both very good. They also often sell fresh fruit as dessert. All in all, this is a tasty place, but I’d recommend picking it up to go.

Taqueria Sanchez has locations across the metro area. There is even one right down the street from me inside one of the c-stores on Loyola Dr. This location is on the I-10 Service Rd in a converted trailer. While some people wouldn’t give this location a thought because of it being in a trailer I look past it and just think about the food. The food here is downright yummy! Their meats are all tender and flavorful. Selections include tacos, enchiladas, burritos(huge burritos), carne asada plates, menudo, and football-sized tortas(a Mexican po-boy IMO). You can order your choice of meat for any of their dishes. The different meats include tongue, pork skin, shredded pork, grilled beef, bbq pork, or chicken. Service is quick and the prices are reasonable. Don’t be scared of the Mexican food being served from this trailer. Your taste buds will thank you later.

While on the Metry bar crawl, me and some other folks decided that it would be a good idea to eat. Steve and Michelle suggested we check out Taqueria Sanchez, which was a few feet away from Colby’s cocktails,.Since I am fairly familiar with the Sanchez, due to their Westbank location, I decided this was as good a day as any to die of food poisoning. TS is located in what is basically a converted trailer. It is super duper small with a few tables inside and small bar area where you can order or eat. We all walked in and looked over the menu. I wasn’t really hungry, so I decided on a small pork quesadilla which cost 4 whole dollars. Everyone else ordered and we all waited. The food came pretty quickly considering there were about 5 or 6 of us. Once food was acquired, we headed back over to Colby’s to eat. I opened my plate and was pleasantly surprised. This looked really good. My quesadilla came with a small side salad and green sauce. The green sauce was spicy but delicious and added flavor to the meal. Well, my quesadilla was PACKED with pork and was actually super good. I will say that I was surprised, but pleased. Steve ordered a torta that looked AMAZING and I will definitely be heading to the Westbank location soon in order to try one of those. TS is good, but I wouldn’t go out of my way. Perfect if you are in the area bar hopping or staying at a nearby hotel, though.

This tiny little joint is just a stumble & a stagger from Colby’s Cocktails and puts together some damn tasty Mexican… Now looking at this place from the outside you’d be judging a book by it’s cover & honestly this book would look a bit sketch since this place is located in an old house trailer… Inside you got maybe 4 – 6 tables but hey they can put together some delectable eats! So get over any concerns and get in there and get your grub on… Was told they didn’t serve booze but the cooler was stocked with a variety of cervezas… was well pleased to see they carried my favorite, Sol! Communication is a bit tricky cause not too much English is spoken or understood here so you gotta get by with pointing but for me the food was totally worth it! In prior reviews(Cantina Laredo, Mia’s Tex-Mex, Casa Maria) I’ve spoken of my love for brisket tacos… This place did a shredded beef taco with the beef soaked in it’s own juices that, while not called a brisket taco, was damn tasty and rivaled any of the brisket tacos I’ve had in the past… I ordered 3 of those tacos with cilantro, onion and avocado and with the salsa verde poured on top it was a Fiesta for the taste buds!!! I’ve found my Mexican place in Metry! The other Unilocalers I was with all loved their orders and my mouth is watering for those tacos as I right this review… I’ll be back sooner rather than later cause this place is a hidden gem…

Ok I’m being really picky and took off a star because I wouldn’t eat inside the restaurant(it’s basically a trailer) but it’s a great divey Mexican joint! Like Joel M. said, it’s right by Colby’s Cocktails(bonus that Colby’s lets you eat in their bar) so you can’t miss it. Right off the Clearview 1 – 10 service road behind the Super 8. Plus it’s open 24 hours on friday and Saturday nights when you have those late night cravings! Unless you know Spanish you will have to point to what you want which is easy because the menu has pictures. I ordered a shredded beef and a pork taco on a soft flour tortilla with cheese, guacamole and sour cream inside! Man, it was good! Plus the green sauce has some kick so I gently dipped a little with each bite! I definitely want to try all their tacos now! Plus, while we were waiting there some bowls of food that looked delicious and were being served to the patrons inside the restaurant. My friends ordered the torta(huge football size sandwich), tacos, and chips and guacamole which everyone enjoyed their respective dishes. Keep in mind I take it as a good sign when I see Hispanic people eating at a Mexican joint. Plus if the people that work there are Hispanic and speak Spanish-even better! One thing I found interesting was they had pupusas which is normally an El Salvadorean dish. Happy Mexican Eating! Muy delicioso!
