Disgusting! If I could give negative stars, I would. I ordered their catfish special, which I had to wait fifteen minutes for. When I went in and saw the employees, I should’ve just made a beeline for the exit… completely and utterly un-hygienic. I wasn’t expecting five star food for the price. However, I expected palatable food. Instead we received rancid fish and soggy fries. I will not return and will warn others to stay away. Their seventh ward and kenner locations are much better.

Absolutely freakin disgusting will never set foot in here again. Nor will I ever recommend to someone ever again. We went in after a soccer game with my son one night he had done well and asked for doughnuts so we stopped in. While we ordered a young man had come from the restroom took the order and the money and we waited. While standing at the counter the same man who was now using a filthy rag to clean the counter and tables came back around the counter and started plating our food. French fries that he grabbed over the top of touching the entire top layer!!! I asked him nicely why did he put his hands all over our food he stared at me like I was an idiot. So I asked do you guys wear gloves. He said no and sat the food on the. Counter. Gross. The fries went in the trash and I asked for a number to talk to a manager. Called several times and no one could give me an answer.!! So eventually I left it alone. But I will never go back ever. Ugh

Amazing buttermilk drops, apparently of the McKenzie’s recipe.

I come here when visiting back home, mainly for nostalgic eating of the glazed/candies donuts and the heritage mckensie’s stuff(petit fours and *king cakes*) of my childhood. Of course the petit fours are way too sweet to me now, but they are just as i remember them. The donuts are pretty good warm. And the mckensies king cakes are the best! Convenient location and nice to have a drive thru.

I love Tastee! Best coffee in the area! Love the donuts and pastries. The staff is super friendly and always willing to brew a fresh pot of coffee.

Recently this location held a «Castle burger event.» They offered one dozen Castle burgers for $ 4.99. Naturally The place was packed. The entire staff was overwhelmed. You could see it in every employee’s face and hear it in their tone. I really felt badly for them. you could tell it certainly wasn’t their idea. Each customer waited on average 30 to 40 minutes. When I got home, I bit into an ice cold piece of meat! Now that’s dangerous. I saved my receipt expecting to become I’ll. I threw the rest of the burgers away. What a waste! The regular price would have Been around $ 10.00. When I looked at my receipt after coming home, I noticed they were still charging tax on $ 10 and not the $ 5 which was the cost of the meal. Just imagine how much money they made stealing 40 something cents from each customer. Furthermore, For the last five years or more The AC vents drip water constantly. It’s disgusting to stand in front of the display case looking at your food while water is dripping on your head and shoulders. That can’t be very hygienic. I hope a child or senior citizen doesn’t slip and hurt themselves! Just look at the caution signs they place under each AC vent and the puddle of water on the floor. Don’t believe me? Go in there any time and you’ll see what I mean. No more with this place I’m done.

I was once told my an employee of TD to NEVER eat here. With that being said, I can disclose that I wish I could eat the mini hamburgers here everyday. For many unnamed reasons, I’m sure I should not — but they’re just that good. Not to mention, they are the closest thing you will get to a Krystal burger unless you want to go to Bourbon Street and spend an obscene amount of money on a tiny burger that shouldn’t be priced at more than 50 cents.(I’m not driving to Lafayette for Krystal burger, would you?) Their desserts, while still good, have gone downhill over the years. You can purchase better desserts at Robert’s, SAMs, Costco, or one of our amazing local bakeries if you feel like spending a little dough(pun-intended). I used to love their doughnuts, and I haven’t found any other doughnuts quite like theirs. You should know that they’re the thick kind, though. There’s nothing wrong with that; people just seem to prefer the right off the conveyer belt, lighter-tasting doughnuts these days. The employees aren’t the friendliest in town, but it’s clear they don’t have to be. This tastee has existed on this corner for as long as I can remember. My neighbors — past and present — have kept this place a staple in their lives. If you’re around and need a quick, well-priced breakfast(not just donuts and pastries), give it a shot. You may just love their stuff.

Very rude and unaccomadating. I had three really bad experiences at this location. Go to another location. They don’t deserve your business!

I know this isn’t the BEST place out there, but there is something to be said for comfort food. This place is pretty quick and easy to get in and out of… they have hot breakfast, not just doughnuts, even though I do like the doughnuts too. Also, they have good ol’ McKenzie’s turtles and king cakes. Oh, and the other night, after the parade, I ran in and got some Kastle burgers. nothing hits the spot like a six pack of burgers and a couple of turtles to chase them… makes my heart and my stomach happy, happy, happy!

I feel as though I’ve aged as soon as I walk in. I dont know if its the décor or the workers or the smell of stale coffee. On the other hand, they do sell cute New Orleans themed gifts. Oh and they offer alcohol aka cordials on the cheap

This Tastee doesn’t have the huge selection like the one on Loyola Dr in Kenner but they are, nonetheless, fresh and tasty. They have an assortment of donuts from glazed to cake donuts. Then there are numerous varieties of each one from a regular glazed to a chocolate ice glazed with sprinkles or a regular cake donut to glazed chocolate cake donuts. I usually get a small ½ dozen box for $ 4.99. Kastleburgers and a few other items are also available here(chicken and fish baskets). You can’t go wrong with a few Kastleburgers late at night when on an empty stomach.

I’ve always been a BIG fan of McKenzie’s growing up in New Orleans and mourned the loss of my favs(chocolate blackout cake, chocolate petit fours, turtles, cinnamon rolls, buttercream coffee cake with the coconut and pecans, brownies, pineapple delight cake, buttermilk drops) when the shop closed. After moving away from NO following Katrina and returning for a visit just recently, I was delighted to see the sign above Tastee’s announcing the return of my McKenzie favorites. Never mind the less than friendly girl standing at the register, I had to have my fix prior to heading out to the airport. The buttermilk drops were passable. Very sweet but not as moist as I remembered it. The chocolate petit four was a far cry from the original. I recall the authentic chocolate petit four to have a green leaf on the top vs the dark purple star found on the new cake square. The frosting was dark brown vs light brown and shiny vs dull and sticky vs dry. I recall the authentic frosting to be more candy like vs sticking to the roof of my mouth like Duncan Hines canned frosting. I passed on the cinnamon rolls which had always been my all time favorite. The packages sitting on the counter had no appeal whatsoever. PUREDISSAPPOINTMENT. Someone got duped. Then again, you can’t have doughnut people making McKenzie’s favorites. I bet that the doughnut people have never tasted or have ever seen a McKenzie fav. Satisfied my curiosity but I’ll continue to keep the memory alive and scrap the Tastee/McKenzie experience.

I don’t know how people eat krispy kreme and rave about them. I am a cake donut girl and therefore I love the Tastee/McKenzies buttermilk drops and they will forever have a place in my heart! The Tastee burgers are also awesome and up there for cheap late night eats. I wouldn’t recommend the McKenzie recipe king cakes though. They are a bit dry(even for a brioche style)

You just don’t know what you have until you lose it. And unfortunately, since McKenzie’s no longer exist and Krispy Kreme taste like Krispy Dookie, Tastee has the #1 donut’s in the metro. In my case, I am happy with their good o’l plain glazed donut. It’s perfect in just about every way. The ONLY donut that has ever existed that could handle up on these was McKenzie’s buttermilk donut. So if you re in NOLA and need something that’s NOT Café Du Monde, this is your spot.
