We used to go to Freco’s all the time, several times a week — it was great — 5 stars. However, since it has been under new management it has declined. The quality is not the same, the food is not as fresh, and the prices are higher. We have stopped going here. I would not recommend going to Fresco’s.

They messed up my food so many times we stopped going there all together. The staff is nice, except one girl who is absolutely clueless. When placing an order over the phone be very specific otherwise you won’t get what you ordered. They constantly mess things up. I don’t know how people could rave about the place that never got our order right. Very disappointing

Love love love. Ever since I discovered this mom and pop joint, I’ve dragged my dad and even mom here. Thankfully, my dad shares my taste in food. We love fresh subs and this place has the freshest bread, meats, soups. I’ve tried their Alfonso, their Mia, but I still stick with the turkey sandwich. No chips. And their pasta e fagiole soup(before their new owners arrived) was out of this world! Now that they add meat in the soup, it’s lost its innocent delicate tomatoey flavor. But still good I suppose haha Everything is super affordable. They cater. I’ve seen so many families come in and leave with boxes of food they can hardly carry by themselves LOL that shows how delicious and wonderful this little establishment is.

I’m not really sure why this place has so many great reviews. When I ate here the food seemed pretty bland, and all the prepared food was kind of tired. Seemed like it was made a long time before I got there, like it had been sitting around a while. Not what I would call a great Italian deli.

Frescos is a gem in the heart of downtown Metuchen. It is a wonderful classic Italian deli. All of the«famous» sandwiches are delicious and come with greens, mozzarella, peppers, and balsamic, but no matter how basic you go(i.e. a turkey sandwich) you end up with a great meal. I recently got take out for a group of friends from New York and LA, and everyone was impressed by the quality of the sandwiches. It’s awesome that they make their own chips. I love them, but don’t expect them to be Lay’s. They’re better and less processed. Bonus points for stocking San Pellegrino sodas too! They’re a must with a classic Italian sandwich.

Great Italian sandwiches and pastas. The homemade fresco chips are amazing. The place gets pretty busy at lunch so calling ahead helps. They have daily specials which are also a great selection. Always plenty of vegetarian options. Also a lot of premise Italian pastas(ravioli, etc) for you to take home and cook.

New owners, new look, same great food. If you’ve never had pastosa raviolis you might wanna pick some up here

Fresco’s just catered another event for us and once again it was great. We received many compliments on the sandwiches and pasta salads. Their prices are reasonable and the quality is great. Thanks fresco’s!

I hadn’t eaten a single thing all day and was in need of something to eat. I was driving down Main Street metuchen as I do almost every day and decided to finally stop into this Italian deli that I pass so often. I parked in the back and the store looked like your typical Italian deli. When I came in the service wasn’t really energetic or welcoming although I didn’t expect them to be on a rainy day at 4pm in early December. I noticed that they used all boars heads products which is a huge plus. I ordered a salami, provolone cheese, cappy and ham sandwhich and the price came to about a 7 dollars. Once I opened the sandwhich and saw how much meat and cheese they stacked it hit me how much of a bargain I got. The sandwhich was really good. The bread was fantastic and complimented the sandwhich well. It’s not my favorite Italian deli but it’s a good one and certainly my favorite that is local. To get all boars head products on damn good bread plus condiments is a great deal. A lot of Italian delis are charging 9 – 10 $ for a similar product Fresco is. Their prices are very reasonable.

There are new owners recently. Was in there today and shocked to see that no one was wearing gloves while handling the food. They were grabbing lettuce, cold cuts, etc with their bare hands. Really grossed me out.

I had a wedding rehearsal dinner catered by Fresco and did this solely on friends’ recommendation. The food was DELICIOUS! and of the highest quality. I ordered chicken Parmesan, cavatelli and broccoli and sausage and peppers. Pasta, potato and Caesar salads were great too. Homemade potato chips-fantasic. My guests raved! Even my Italian mother-in-law was talking about how delicious the cavatelli and broccoli was when we spoke 2 days later… and she knows good italian food, being a good cook herself. Thanks to Fresco my party was a success.

3.5 Stars A true Italian Deli. Absolutely great sandwiches. They also make their own potatoes chips which are really good. They have so many Italian deli deli snacks from rice balls to broccoli rabe. My only complaint is that there is just madness when trying to order food, it’s a super high counter and there’s no line. You just stand there and wait for someone to take your order. They should figure out a way to make it more streamlined. Food — 5 stars Staff — 5 stars Ease of ordering — 2 stars

Great deli to grab something quick for lunch. They have excellent salads with homemade croutons. My favorite is the Cajun Chicken Salad. Also try their Sloppy Joe Sandwiches, which are more like a Ruben then a traditional Sloppy Joe. Even better is they come with their homemade potato chips.

It was OK. I’m new to working in the area and was looking for a deli and found the reviews here. The place seemed to be doing a lot of business. I got the turkey BLT wrap. It wasn’t anything amazing, not terrible, but not great. I would try some other places before I’d go back again

Looks like they’re under new management. The sandwich was excellent and the service was courteous and fast. But the help was a tad bit inexperienced and the soup did not stay hot in the plastic takeout container – not sure it it was hot enough to begin with. The food behind the glass is beautifully presented.

This small deli modestly serves up deliciously inspired Italian fresh food. Everything I have ever bought freshly made or from the take away has always been fantastic. The bread has that great crusty outside with a soft not chewy or doughy inside. The service has always been fast no matter how many deep. Friendly and all lined out with it comes to your orders. I love the sandwiches but they do have handmade pasta and dishes for those who are not skilled in the art of home making Italian dishes or when you just want to take a break from cooking. They do have outside seating but not table service. Remember to always drink reasonably Crazy Cubano Out.

Love this place. Everything is great and the prices are so so reasonable. They give a generous amount of stuff on the sandwiches and charge less than most places. What could be better? They also have chicken cutlets, salads, fresh mozz. If you want a sandwich… go here. If you want to whip something up for dinner and look like an amazing chef… go here. Staff is very friendly.

When I come back to the east coast, the one thing I specifically seek out is a prosciutto and mozzarella sandwich. I simply can’t seem to find them where I live now. They exist, but just not as readily available as certain other parts of the country like the one I currently sit in. I don’t normally get my sandwich with lettuce, tomatoes and onions, but on this occasion I did. Not sure why. Just trying to mix it up a bit I guess. Those extras didn’t really add anything to the sandwich. Normally I like my sandwich with the meat, the cheese, the bread and the oil. Simple. I think I’ll keep it like that in the future. This sandwich was good with the extras, but when I got to a point in it where there was no longer any lettuce, tomatoes or onions, it was just about perfect. They give you a nice sized sandwich for $ 6.50. Pretty good price for this part of the country. If I had had some more money in my wallet on this occasion I might have tried a few other things they had in the display counter. Tons of very fresh looking salads here and other goodies. Italian food is one of my favorite things and this place looks like an adult version of a candy shop to me.
