Amazing amazing! My second time eating here and the food and service is always phenomenal!!! From the appetizer to the main course to the sides and to ending of desert! Everything was unbelievably good! Can’t wait to go back!

Changed ownership 8 months ago and they removed some of my favorite dishes. Not sure they have the sushi rolls any longer as well

We were a party of six and were first seated at a rectangular table. We asked for a round table and they kindly moved us. The waiter mumbled the specials of the evening. Service was somewhat slow. When our entrees arrived, the three men were served and then one of the women received her food, but two of us did not get served! The others were eating and Debbie and I were waiting and waiting. Debbie started waving her hands and the waiter was studiously avoiding our table. Then he brought her a second glass of wine. She said, «I don’t want wine, I want my food!» I didn’t complain, and received no wine and no apology. By the time Debbie received her salad and a couple minutes later, I received my fish, the others had finished eating. When I received my fish, the rice accompanying it was cold. My husband later reported that his food arrived cold. There were very few people in the restaurant that night. We refused to pay for the two entrees that arrived so late. A very poor performance on the part of Altamare. We won’t be going back.

Management is extremely poorly run. The staff is so uneducated on the menu it is laughable. My wife and I purchased a Gilt City voucher which no one knew about or had been trained on. When the bill arrived they charged my wife and I gratuity on a $ 300 bill when the voucher was for $ 132. The worst part is the manager never spoke to us nor showed his presence. What is the manager for? Extremely poor customer service experience and we will not return. The manager could have made a difference on the experience and instead did nothing. Completely unacceptable.

This was one of out favorite restaurants in MB until last night. We made a reservation, arrived about 10 minutes early, and were seated outside as requested. The waitstaff seemed to hand us off several times. We had a waiter that was one of the most forgetful I’ve ever had. They did not have either of the bottles of wine on the wine list that we requested. Then, we had ordered the wahoo crudo as an app, out of that too. After about an hour, we were wondering if our entrée order had ever been placed. Our waiter then came by to ask if we would like anything else, or just the check! I replied that we hadn’t received our entrees yet. Our water was not refilled unless we could catch the busboy or hostess. We did receive our pappardelle, yellowtail, and mixed seafood grill, and the food was excellent. But after the long wait, padded bill, and poor service, I’m afraid we won’t be going back. It’s a shame since we enjoyed the food, but as a local, won’t suffer tourist service again.

Unfortunately this restaurant which used serve local fish fish now offers Chilean Seabass, the sign of a chef unconcerned about sustainability. Service has become less efficient also.

Used to be great, now new owners and terrible! Ordered a bottle of wine and told they we out and suggested another that the waiter told us was more then the $ 50 the other cost and he got approval from the owner to give it to us for the $ 50. Saw the same at Total Wine and found it for $ 9.99, what a scam! My wife sent her Short Rib Parpardella back and they gave her 3 lobster ravioli’s that was less than adequate, my linguini and clams was dried out.

The saving grace of this eatery was the bartender. Otherwise, this place is not worth your business. The food was disappointing to the point where my party and I decided to leave after tasting our 3 appetizers. The first, a tuna tartar, seemed to come from a can. The second, the grilled octopus, was not grilled. It seemed to resemble imitation crab meat. The third, an arugula salad with goat cheese and beets, was a run of the mill salad not worth the $ 9. The specials of the evening were also listed as «lobster, stone crab, and steak» without any further explanation. Our waiter seemed frazzled although only 5 of the tables in the restaurant were occupied. There are far better places to spend your money on a good meal in the neighborhood.

When Claudio owned it it was fantastico and now the great, award-winning Italian seafood restaurant is owned by a French man that doesn’t seem to have a clue about owning a restaurant. I’ve been trying to understand what has happened. Maybe he used to own a nightclub before but the quality of the food is really, really bad. All the people that used to work there or at least most of them are gone as are the regular customers. It is true that the new owner upgraded the décor but the food has gone way down and the prices have gone way up. Don’t expect it to be around for long… just a prediction. When I was there this evening there was not one other customer. There was of course the usual gaggle of old French men trying to get them to use their products. I will miss this great place. Ciao.

Too bad you can’t put zero stars. Absolutely terrible. I used to go here during prior owner and it was incredible. Now it’s waiting to close. Skip it… do NOT go.

Had been wanting to go to Altamare for years and finally got the chance. Beautiful setting. Good wine list. The short rib pasta and steak dishes were very good, the mussel pasta dish was disappointingly very dry. When this was mentioned to server dish was whisked away and returned with a side of olive oil and or mussel juices. A bit strange. Everyone was friendly but service was sporadic with servers disappearing. I’d give it a second chance.

Nothing special. The meal stated off with five pieces of cut up stale bread and a table spoon of olive oil in a dish. There were two of us for dinner. There were three types of oysters listed on the menu; they only had one available which we ordered. Then we shared the muscles… meh. My fellow diner ordered Sea Bass with carrots and vegetables and me the Terracotta Sea Pot. His Sea bass were there ragged pieces of fish which looked over cooked and zero carrots; a few slices of zucchini. My Sea Pot was flat with flavor. Two people, two cocktails each, two appetizers and two entrees…$ 257 including a 18% tip. Way overpriced. The problem is the menu is tired and stale. I haven’t been here in a couple of years. The same dishes after all these years… YAWN. The only thing that keeps changing is the décor. And that’s is not that great either. Friday night at 8:30pm and there are only four other tables sat. Even after dinner the resturantt never got any fuller. What once used to be a great restaurant our neighborhood is evolved into one of those places that I will just walk by.

I’ve been sitting here for 45 minuets. We had to search for someone to seat us and someone to wait on us. The food is decent and the kitchen sucks! The server was nice but should have been more on top of it… Waste of time!

Horrible. We wanted to sit outside under the tents even though it was drizzling a bit, and the chairs were awkwardly placed in between two tents(so they moved us, no big deal) The the first waiter asks which kind of water I wanted, sparkling, lemon, etc. He mumbled and I kindly asked him to repeat them and he caught a slight attitude. Then, after surveying a very limited menu. we come to find out the kitchen isn’t cooking any more pasta for the night. So the owner comes out and suggests something to speed us through. He suggested the grilled octopus and I had remembered reading a good review about it on Unilocal. We finally got our food. The portions were extremely minimal, not to mention it was literally the worst meal I’d ever tasted. Idk if it was just bad octopus but everything on the plate was horrible as well as my girlfriends meal. The damage was around 60 — 70 bucks. I felt robbed. It was a bad birthday meal for her. I made it up to her with breakfast/brunch at 15th& Vine at the Viceroy. Perfect save.

My fiancé and I were initially suppose to have dinner at the restaurant next door(Haven Gastro), but we left right after viewing the really bad menu. We decided to try Atlamare since it was so close and looked upscale. The waiter was very friendly and attentive. We sat outside and the vibe was really chill. I can’t recall if there was any music playing, if so, it must’ve been really low. Appetizer– Calamari Frito. Mediocre compared to other high end sea food restaurants. Lacked flavor. Dinner– My fiancé had the steak and lobster. He really enjoyed it! I had the seafood pasta. it wasnt that good. I had to drench it in Parmesan in order to build any kind of flavor. We skipped dessert. I just didn’t think it would be worth it based on my dinner. Overall this place is ok. Great customer service tho.

The restaurant was empty. Only 4 other tables and 2 ppl at the bar. They sat us down w the regular menu, when I asked for the Miami Spice menu they asked me if i had a reservation… Ok… I actually did make one. I ordered a «none» Miami spice drink… Waited as if the place was full. The menu was a total bait n switch! Nothing like the website. The food was good. Not impressed w the service, I guess they don’t care, 20% gratuity included either way. Skip this place go elsewhere!

We were told that this restaurant was very good by a friend… well let me say a few things: I ordered grouper and the waiter said they were out, which is fine if the guest is informed of 86’ed items when they first arrive, not after he gave us all the specials and came back. He apologizes and goes to get my wine, at which point I order the Sea Bass and my husband orders the Skirt Steak… Guess what? Out of Skirt Steak! My $ 38.00 Sea Bass was dry and overcooked. Overall a very disappointing dining experience and not a cheap one either. The waiter did comp my second glass of wine, which was nice, but the«dining» experience and the food was pretty lame. Will not go back.

Love love love the yellowtail hamachi tartar. Also, the soft shell crab tempura was bananas! The décor and music is so comforting, yet elegant. Staff is very proper, knowledgable, and sweet. Management came to my table and greeted us, that was nice. Fresh seafood, awesome specialty cocktails. I’ve been more than I can count with both hands, but I’ve just decided to write a review for this gem. I love the bartender also! Great place!

Found this place on Unilocal. Food was fantastic(mushroom ravioli). Service was good. Restaurant atmosphere was pleasant. Cool décor«water theme». The shrimp pasta was a tad too simple for my taste(tried my friend’s). Definitely order the ravioli!

Another incredible meal at Altamare! The grilled octopus was just as perfect as last time with that smoky chipotle aioli and perfectly complementary farro. This is a MUST. Other standouts were the arugula salad with roasted beets, goat cheese and champagne vinaigrette; the mussels, served with crisp rice and beautiful, light green curry broth; the Harris Ranch braised short rib. That short rib was heaven! It was«last meal» worthy, but hopefully that’s not a practical reality for me. Ha! Owner Claudio maintains a watchful eye on his crew, and the consistent dishes are testament to his impassionata. Fantastico! I’m happy to recommend this spot, especially for discerning lovebirds!

This place was recommended by a girl at my hotel. My server(Jesse) was incredible. I was dining alone and he never let me feel less important than any of his larger tables. All of his recommendations were incredible. I started with the passion fruit martini he recommended. It was good, but REALLY sweet. I guess they were out of the vodka they normally make it with so they made it entirely with Canton liquer instead of a blend of that and ginger vodka. Jesse recommended the grilled octopus. Incredible. I think mine was a little overdone(dry) but the flavor was still amazing and I highly recommend it too. I also ordered the Canaveral Shrimp and that was great too. Lastly, I overdid it with dessert, but their version of a hazelnut molten cake(name?) was VERY good. I’ll be back for more!

Wow, this was just a fantastic Miami Beach restaurant. The only thing that didn’t turn out good is my lame choice. But it was my own darn fault. I should have had my wife with me. She usually keeps me from ordering things she knows that I won’t like. The service was stellar. Great folks with friendly attitudes which was a welcome surprise. The only bad thing about the waiter is that he recommended the whole freaking menu. «So, what do I recommend». At that point he practically read the entire thing. Good use that was. We started out with the mojitos. Knock my socks off. I could drink those the rest of my entire life. Wow. Reading other Unilocaler’s reviews, we went with the grilled octopus. I absolutely don’t like calamari. This ain’t that. Yes, it is technically the same, but it was like cooked on a wood grill or something. I should have just ended the entire meal there. I selected the terra cotta seafood pot. It was my own darn fault. I didn’t enjoy it, but I could tell it was well prepared. I liked the shrimp, fish, and scallops. However, I don’t care much for mussels, oysters and(as I said above) calamari. It had TONS of all three. Thus I shot myself in the foot with my order. I finished it off with the deconstructed tiramisu. It was basically the same thing but put together in a weird way. Everything mixed together in front of you. I wept as I was eating it. Wow this was freakin’ awesome!
