The first appointment he made with us he was two hours late because he decided to stop and have dinner. Not a call or an e-​mail to let us know.
He clearly knew his craft, so we gave Steve a deposit and were put on the waiting list. Weeks later we received an e-​mail that he wanted to start the next day, with no warning. I asked him to wait 24 hours. I was waiting for the Landmark’s permit which I had been told was in the mail. Less than 24 hours later he sent an e-​mail that we had been moved down the list with no idea of how many more weeks it would be. We decided not to go forward with him as the contractor. He sent a nasty email that we had probably found someone cheaper — not true — and tore up the bank certified check before putting it into an envelope and mailing it back.
He is knowledgeable about carpentry, but he is temperamental.

Steve is an honest businessman that takes his practice seriously and respects the time (and wallet) of his customers.
I posted to an online homeowners forum a quote I was given regarding the installation of a new lock on a security door for my home. To make a very long story short I was locked inside my house, called a locksmith to help me and received a quote for him to fix the issue.
Steve was kind enough to not only respond to let me know that this quote was astronomically high and that I was being taken advantage of but he also offered to come and take a look at the issue FOR FREE and then consult with me on what my next steps should be.
Steve came to my house and tinkered with my old lock, trying to salvage parts and pieces. He came to the conclusion that I indeed needed a new lock. He walked right up to my local hardware store and purchased a lock that I approved of. He then installed my lock in just under an hour. He even took a look at my second floor doors and fixed a few things for me.
Steve was careful to explain that he normally does not do these types of small jobs as he specializes in large home repairs and woodwork but he felt so terrible that I was being misguided and lied to that he felt compelled to respond. He was also clear that he was not trying to ‘steal’ work from anyone else but honestly felt bad for me. Well, I am surely glad that he did respond and I am happy that I called him for help.
$ 150 later and I have a brand new lock on my security door and an adjusted deadbolt for my second floor. Steve was expedient, efficient and honest. He is exactly the type of small business I am proud to support.
