Tried this restaurant when visiting Midland for the first time after hearing recommendations from locals. Had the chicken fried steak and it was delicious! It’s bigger than the size of your head, so you might want to share. After moving to Midland, we keep going back. Tried the onion rings and they were sooooo good! Will be back.

Nice Southern feel. Open all day and great food. Only complaint is they made me order my Okra as an appetizer and not as a side. A bit expensive! Nice folks

Decent southern food and service was surprisingly good!!! Waitress was nice and attentive which can be hard to get in Midland. Fried shrimp is the best in town.

Atmosphere was similar to a Salt Grass. I had the fried fish tacos, they were ok. The tortillas didn’t stand the fish, there was a lot of onions for fish tacos. The flavor was not bad but nothing exceptional or memorable. Coworker had the chicken fried steak and it was the size of an medium oval plate, the chicken was seasoned nicely. My overall impression was not bad, not great. I’d probably go back but it wouldn’t be a first top choice.

I don’t normally write reviews for dining establishments, but in this case, I must share my thoughts. My wife and I have dined at some of the best, and worst, places around the country and part of the world. This place not only has excellent service and great atmosphere, it has the Yahoo! Boy Howdy! Finger Lickin’ Good Best Southern Comfort Food I’ve eaten anywhere. Do yourself a favor and get to this place as fast as you can! Enjoy and thank me later!

Was very impressed with the seafood here, I had the combo with chicken strips and fried shrimp and boy did it hit the spot. Co worker had the fish tacos and really liked them as well. Good atmosphere, service was good and even though it was packed(Saturday evening) we got our food pretty quick. Don’t forget to try the onion rings… AWSOME! All and all will definetly come back if I’m in the area

Horrible dining experience pick somewhere else, fast food would be a better choice service is ridiculously poor! after numerous mistakes on my order starting with my beverage, then getting not what I ordered, then not having silverware at the table I walked out. I asked to speak to the manager, who turned out was my horrible server, she may have the title of «manager» but is far from one she acted around 10 – 12 years old and attempted to argue with me when I complained. I am from out of town and this joke of a restaurant is one place I will never visit again. Definitely not worthy of your business nor your money, dine elsewhere

Visiting from out of town. Catfish and onion rings really are great, as recommended. Solid service.

I’ve been here twice now, they were pretty busy tge first time. We had a great waitress both times, received our appetizers and food quickly. Their reasonably priced, the menu has a great variety of different foods.

Food was really good if you like fried food. I don’t appreciate them charging me $.50 for the homemade ranch sauce that came with the mozzarella sticks… Server was very nice.

I have eaten at this restaurant multiple times, and they’re food is wonderful Texas style food, but the poor service makes it not worth the dine in experience, or lack thereof. I work close by the restaurant, so it is convenient for me to order over phone, but even that has been a horrible experience. The bartender doesn’t answer with a ‘Hello’, instead it is a, ‘what’s your name?’ And when I said hello because I wasn’t sure if she was talking to me or someone at the bar, she said ‘I have to have a name for your order!’ in completely condescending tone, as if I was too incompetent to follow her direction! I have worked in the service industry before and that kind of demeanor should never be tolerated. My dine in experience has been similar with rude servers. If I didn’t absolutely love their jalapeño crawfish chowder or firecracker salmon, I wouldn’t even give this place a second thought.

This resturant had 4 stars. So we went while in Midland. They say they have the best catfish. It was a 1 star at best. Just your basic everyday place. Server was great. Won’t ever go back!!!

I had the fried catfish and with a squeeze of lemon it was pretty dang good. I ordered the medium size plate(you have a choice of 3 sizes) and I should of gotten the small. The medium had about 6 big pieces of fish, fries, beans, and coleslaw. The coleslaw is disgusting, however I think that of all coleslaw so it may of been delicious and I just wouldn’t know. Never met a coleslaw I liked(but I keep trying too). The fried okra and fried pickles are excellent as are the onion rings. The family enjoyed the fried shrimp and the kids hamburger. After reading over this it explains why I might be having chest pains. :) just kidding Kind of pricey and that is my beef on why I didn’t rate it higher.

Above average food every time. Service is always hit or miss. I can deal with the waitresses being slow or lacking a personality. I didn’t come to chat it up with them anyway. I just want the food. 90% of my visits have been positive and I will continue to visit. Firecracker Salmon is legit. Also, order to go if you need to. The bartenders I have dealt with have been awesome when taking care of my to go orders.

The hotel where my company strands us is within walking distance to just a few places, Clear Springs being one of them. Though it is convenient to my hotel I won’t be back. First impression upon walking through the door is decent, looks like Texas in a Cracker Barrel’ish sort of way and had a good amount of folks eating which is usually a good sign. We are seated fairly quickly and it takes a few minutes for a our server to make her way over. As we are unfamiliar with the menu one of my colleagues asks our server which is her favorite items to eat… Wait for it… «oh, I usually don’t eat here as I get sick nearly every time» WTF!!! Epic fail! The absolute worst and most idiotic response I’ve ever heard from a server(and I’ve been one!). We each exchange worried looks but decide to stick since we are starving and had a long day of work. Aside from being a terrible server and not knowing a thing about the menu she was nice but did forget multiple things including bringing the wrong beer to my buddy after asking twice about getting another drink. Yowza. The food? Not much better than our service. I should state that I don’t eat much in the way of fried foods so my expectations might not the same as others. I was underwhelmed with the so called ‘world famous’ catfish sandwich, too soggy and not much flavor. The onion rings were decent but again quite soggy. The one redeeming food item were the ‘Stingers’, pretty tasty and definitely hit the spot. Oh and for the love of filling landfills — why oh why do you serve food on Styrofoam? Really? In the end, the 3 of us left disappointed in the food and especially the service. Won’t be back.

This was my first time in Midland. While staying at hotel within walking distance, I strolled in on a Tuesday around 12:30. The place was packed, which is always a good sign to me. The wait was less than 10 minutes. So far, so good. After being seated, my server Michelle was waiting on a rather large party. When she got to my table, she apologized for the wait. I asked her about the chicken fried chicken and she mentioned it was delicious and a good size, so I ordered it with a side of corn and onion rings. The portion was huge! I couldn’t finish the plate! The chicken was fantastic and the onion rings were terrific! After paying the bill, Michelle even offered me a refill of my root beer to go. I highly recommend this place if you’re in the area. Great food, great service! Easy 5 stars.

Wow, Firecracker Salmon is a must have. Sat at the bar and had very attentive service. I can’t wait to have my wife try this. Willing to drive from Houston to the nearest location in New Braunfels for this!!!
