I really don’t leave reviews on restaurants. This is my fist Unilocal!review and I only wrote it because I landed on this page and questioned a lot of the feedback about this terrific Indian restaurant. Just to catch you up, I travel a lot for business and have been to several Indian restaurants. I’ve also been to the one in Short Pump that everybody raves about. At first I went here, loved it and then went to the Short Pump one. The food was OK. Went back to this one, and realized how much I Iove it. If it lacks anything, maybe atmosphere. I would also like to see it offer sit down service and less buffet, but I understand as a business how it needs to operate to lower costs. Overall, what matters most is the food and this is some of the best Indian food I’ve had. Absolutely delicious.

Do I have to give it a star… my review is simple… Oh google how much I curse thee for having this restaurant on top when I said.“Okay google Indian restaurants near me”. The chicken Tikka masala was missing the Masala. The chicken was boiled not tandoori… The spinach paneer was missing tomato sauce. It was a hot(not in a good way) spinachy mess. Mystiq Masala. call your self whatever you want just don’t call your self an Indian or Pakistani restaurant. For go sakes all you got to do is spend 20 bucks and go to an Indian buffet and just copy it. Can’t be that hard.

This place is too over priced for the quantity and quality of food, and none of the tables were kept clean. The sauces were very good, but the meat in the dishes were very dry, and some of the things(such as the naan) didn’t taste authentic. However, the staff was very nice, and they were very good about refilling glasses.

Probably the worst service I have ever had to date. The server ignored 4 of the 5 tables.

Fine buffet and excellent renditions of northern Indian cuisine. One day I’m going to come in to order a curry Pakistani hot.

This place changed owners a about a year ago and we just found out. We are 2nd generation Indian, have lived in Silicon Valley, Boston, New York, so we know Indian food. This place stands out, and is the best(of two) Indian restaurants in Midlothian. I would say it is in the top 5 in the Richmond area… that’s saying a lot considering the variety on West Broad. They have a number of vegetarian and meat dishes everyday, including some of the best tandoori chicken I have had outside of India. Biriyani is really good as well. Chicken 65 is awesome. Chicken Tikka Masala is a bit on the sweeter side with onions and bell peppers, so it is different than some other places, and not my favorite. Fresh naan table side would be nice as well. Some dishes have a spice level on the higher side, just the way I like it. Besides that, service is fine, buffet is kept fresh with a steady flow of freshly made dishes. An included frozen yogurt or mango Lassi would be a nice touch. Keep it up!

This place is great the proprietor was very attentive and the food tasted excellent. It was noticed that pride was put into every dish. The chicken masala and curry chicken really stood out to me.

Great lunch buffet with a wide variety of Indian food. New owners have added several dishes to the buffet. They also brought fresh, hot naan bread right to our table. Try something new!

Stopped in for the buffet. I would have considered it reasonably priced if the food was not blander than oatmeal and cold. I can deal/understand bland in so much that you can add sauces etc. and the restaurant is trying to go for the flavors that will least«offend» anyone, but there’s is no excuse for all dishes to be served cold at 12:30 Will not be going back, and would suggest that others not even bother.

If you like Indian food and you don’t want to travel into Richmond, Mystiq is the place to go. We’ve only tried the buffet and while it isn’t amazing it certainly satisfies a craving. Don’t expect wait service and you won’t be disappointed. Good value overall

This is a great Indian restaurant. We drive 25 miles to try it out and went back the next week. They have a dinner buffet on Wednesday and Saturday nights. Very good food and the service is very good too. Will go back often.

My wife and I have gotten take out from here 4 times. The food has been a solid three every time. But they burn the naan bread. I don’t understand how you can burn food and not think that people will not notice. Something like naan bread should the very simple job that a novice indian chef learns. I am not a fan of the print outs on the wall no matter where you see pages printed off the personal computer printer advertising the buffet. One time as I was paying the guy asked me if I knew about the buffet. It was kind of comical since there was no way not to see it. Maybe or is me, but great food can speak for itself with out a ream of printed Paper hung up as advertisement. Maybe I am being a little harsh, but the last time was truly disappointing. Look, I WANTED to like this place. I really like Indian food and there isn’t a lot of good places on this side of town. But apparently that may still be the case. On the bright aide I Was able to glance into the kitchen and it appeared clean. Largely, my biggest fear about a place like this is without a lot of people dining here it seemed like it would suffer from low food turnover — which is never a good sign. So why did we eat here so many times if I am giving it a 2? Well as I said in the beginning the food is a solid 3 star. But the lack of total quality control turns an ok into a disappointment.

For all the fans of Indian food in the Chesterfield area, this food is delicious. Upon walking in on a Friday night around 7PM, there were roughly 3 other tables sat down and a friend and I shared a look like ‘oh man, only three tables?’ We were told by who seemed to be the only server to have a seat where ever we pleased. We both waned to try an Indian beer, so took a look at their list. They offered six different types. I myself ordered the Kingfisher, and my friend ordered the Taj Mahal. Both Great! We started with the Vegetable Samosas. YUM!(stuffed with my favorites, peas and potatoes) Seasoned perfectly with Curry! Our Server offered advice on what to get between a couple options we had decided on and he made the right choice! I Myself got Chicken Vindaloo(A personal Favorite) I have eaten it at many a Indian Restaurant but considered this one, the best. I didn’t add spice like I normally would as I just wanted to try theirs the way it came. It was the perfect amount of spice, with a hint of heat and didn’t leave me needing a napkin to wipe my forehead from heat sweat! My friend got the Garlic Lamb, and hands down, the most flavorful dish I have had in years! I only got to try a bite, but was a fan right away, and as a person who normally gets the same thing everywhere she goes, have added this to my list of must haves next time I visit. The Lamb was tender, and the garlic was not overpowering. Mouth Watering delicious.(Craving it as we speak!) We ordered three types of Naan to try a little of everything. Garlic Naan, Regular Naan, and Cheese Naan. I was not a personal fan of the Cheese Naan as I don’t feel that cheddar goes with the Indian food, and it looked similar to a kids pizza. My friend however loved it. The regular was just perfect for me, and Garlic just made it better. Overall, I’m excited I went, and will be back, probably soon!

Yesterday was the first time my mom and I had tried Indian food so their lunch buffet was a nice way to try the different dishes. Everything was great and I especially loved the tikka masala.

A very good choice for Indian food in the area. Every thing we’ve tried has been great and the naan is superb. Not only that, but they offer a super cheap buffet! There’s nothing else to say, really. If you like Indian food, try this place. Two-thumbs way, way up!

Good, consistent, and friendly. I’d go during the buffet, the masala is great. Chicken Korma and Butter Chicken is also great, and their naan is top notch. There’s not a big staff, because it’s a small laid back place. I’m not sure what people are looking for in that — we’ve never, EVER had a problem with the staff, and we’ve been here 8 – 10 times. I think when they opened there was some roughness, but they’ve been consistent ever since. We didn’t like it the first time, but we have ever since. I don’t know how people can compare this to Ruchee. I think this place is ten times better; everything we had at Ruchee tasted bland and oversalted. I’ve been to Indian places in DC, Chicago, and NYC — and this place is totally more authentic than Ruchee, by far.

My wife and I passed on the dinner buffet, opting instead to order entrees off the menu. The food was fantastic but the restaurant was horribly understaffed. I felt sorry for the single waitress tasked with serving all of us and I got the sense that the kitchen was just as swamped. We had Samosas, Chicken Tikka, Chicken Korma, and a ridiculous amount of naan. Everything was spectacular. I look forward to going back!

I finally got to try this little place out today. What a GREAT all you can eat lunch buffet! The price was fantastic! I tried a little of everything to see what I thought was the best. The final consensus is that it was ALL equally amazing! For dessert they had jamun and that was quite different in taste but still oh so good! The restaurant is family owned and ran and while i was there they were there enjoying lunch together. They were very sweet, friendly, and incredibly accommodating! If you haven’t tried this place for lunch yet and you are in the area you really should!

We have tried this place several times and it was just horribly inconsistent. The first time we went(right after they opened) and the food was really good. We thought«Great! An Indian restaurant closer to us than Ruchee or K’Raja!» The second time we went was during a buffet and the food was fairly mediocre. But it was the buffet, so I just chalked it up to that. The next time we went my wife bit down on several chicken bones in her dish. That is just unacceptable. We gave it one more try while my wife was craving Indian food. So I ordered some take out and brought it home to her. It was one of the most disappointing meals ever. Nothing tasted right and everything was sub-par. It was bad to the point that we stopped eating it and went to Ruchee the next night to get our fix of Indian. We tried several times… we won’t try any more.

This is likely the only restaurant I will go to whenever I am in the Richmond area. Their butter chicken is good, although on the salty side. The lunch buffet is very good. The vegetable dishes are excellent, as is the chicken masala. Even the desserts are good. That is news to me. I have been to a few Indian buffet places in North America. None of them has dessert that is edible. Hmmm.
