Loved all the meats we tried, brisket and chicken and ribs. The sides are also very good. Coleslaw and the salad was a good portion size as well. It’s a little pricey but you are getting mostly meat. Ambiance is pretty casual, like a small town diner. Service was good, fast and friendly. Dessert was AWESOME. They will cater as well

I’ve gone here since I was a little kid. It used to be my favorite restaurant. They have recently raised prices and lowered the quality. Sad. The beef is fatty and rubbery.

I ordered take out. $ 31 dollars worth of food. The salad was extra and yet it wasn’t in my to go bag. I had to go back out to the resultant and was told it was in my bag. Which clearing it was not, because I drove back to get a $ 3 salad. The rest of the food was ok. Not the best service for a restaurant that had 3 people in it.

Add the sugar back ribs they’re really good. Barbecue sauce could double as mustache wax you need a little taste for later in the day.

Great BBQ every time. I’ve eaten here at least 20 times and have never been disappointed. It’s all good. I’ve had every meat on the menu and have always liked everything I ordered. The sugar backs and smoked chicken are my faves. Never had the mud pie because I’m always too full for dessert!

Favorite BBQ in SLC area. A lot of people like Pats, I tried it and didn’t fall in love(its very good though) maybe my expectations were too high from all the people recommending it. I’ll stick with Joe Morley’s. LOVE their beans.

We tried basically everything at a family get together. The food was good not great. It was also reheated so it may be great fresh from the kitchen. I would go back but I do feel there are better BBQ joints in SLC.

Very disappointing… Brisket was dry and tough. BBQ sauce was okay and service was good. If you have another option I would take it.

Before there was R&R(IMO the most over rated Barbecue I’ve ever eaten), Sugarhouse BBQ, Pat’s or any of them, There was Joe’s. Joe Morley’s is still doing it right. It had been years since I had been there and after last night, I’m kicking my ass for waiting so long to go back. There are always hits and misses. The coleslaw for example wasn’t very good, but I don’t go to a barbecue pit for the coleslaw. The ribs, the chopped pork, the beans, the sauce however, were worth going to jail for. If you’re looking for trendy, or a trough or a theme? You’re in the wrong place. Meat and sauce are the stars of this show

We came here a few months ago and we where not really impressed with the quality of the ribs they where almost to dry and the taste was an experience that was dul to say the lease. No real flavor other than rib sause that was bitter and over salted. We recommend for them to have a signature sause that steps out of the normal realm of BBQ to really set them apart and see if they can look into meat that was not just packaged at Walmart.

I Ordered a take-out meal from this place today. I live right by it in Midvale and I’ve always wanted to check it out. Sadly it was pretty disappointing. I ordered the three meat combo(spare ribs, smoked chicken, and chopped pork) it came with two sides and a dinner roll. The total was $ 21.52 so I expected it to be a lot of food. I’m not a big eater and usually don’t finish a meal so I was amazed at how little food this came with. Only two ribs, a leg of chicken, and a tea cup size container for the chopped pork. The chicken was undercooked and slimy. The chopped pork was very average and the dinner roll was definitely grocery store bought. I rarely ever complain and I never write bad reviews but the disappointment on this meal was worth a review. Still hungry and disappointed. For $ 21.52 I won’t go back. Andrew

I found Joe’s restaurant on Unilocal,I was looking for a great BBQ joint that was near my work. A lot of the places it suggested I had been to so when I saw Joe’s I decided to try it out. The favorable reviews and high rating made my decision a bit easier. I went around 3:00pm on Thursday after the lunch crowd and before the dinner rush. The parking lot wasn’t huge so it might be hard getting in and out during a rush. The inside was like every other old restaurant you’ve been to. It does have some nice big screens on the wall for watching sports. The waitress/cashier was very friendly and helpful, she let me combine two meats in their small eaters platter. So I got the Sugarback Babyback Ribs, the Smoked Polish Sausage with a side of baked beans. The Sugarback Ribs are incredibly tasty! I technically didn’t need to add any of the BBQ sauce to them but did because it’s great! The size of the ribs looked decent for the small platter but I only got about 2 good bites of meat on each rib before there was just bone which was a bit disappointing. I’ve had ribs from other places that had a lot more meat before reaching bone. Maybe that was just for the small platter? The polish sausage was very very good! Each bite was full of flavor, not too greasy and not too spicy/hot. I could easily eat a sandwich made of that! I’m not sure what they put in their beans but they were tremendous! Very flavorful! I would go just for those! I wasn’t a big fan of the stringy texture(maybe that’s just me) but I easily pushed that a side because of the great flavor! The side roll was good as well. I’ll definitely be going back for more meat and sides! I wasn’t able to try their mudslide pie but I’ve heard it’s incredible. I would recommend this place to anyone who likes BBQ food!

I’m not sure where to start here, I think this place is a little overpriced for what you get. I ordered some ribs and I thought they where tender but not exceptionally great, the corn bread was so dry and crumby that I felt like I needed to wash it down after every bite. I ordered a lemonade that read on the menu as «fresh squeezed» but when I got it I could taste the sprite in it and was extremely sweet, however it did look pretty. The baked beans where probably one of the best items on the menu, as I felt the Brisket lacked tenderness and flavor. I don’t think I would return to Joe Morley’s.

Expensive for small portions($ 18 for three meats and two small sides… and one of the meats literally was two ribs…). Food was mediocre at best. Will not be returning.

It was a day I needed more than fast food at lunch. Joe’s was a bookmark I’ve had for a while. If a BBQ place is doing brisket, I try it. That’s the litmus test. It is tender and flavorful. That’s hard to do. I don’t know what their wood mix is when they BBQ. I didn’t get much hickory, or other stronger wood flavors. I didn’t get any real rub on the bark. There wasn’t much of a smoke ring. So, in the end, tasty and well cooked, but not amazing. The coleslaw was mediocre. The«onion chips» were really good. The rolls were pretty good. Tasty stuff, but the local BBQ scene has passed them by.

Great little hole in the wall BBQ place! If you can get Ame to be your server she is fantastic! Now for the tastiness, I recommend the beef brisket. It’s tender and the sauce has a great sweet start with an awesome tangy finish. Plus the atmosphere total fits a western BBQ joint, music and all. Cool little spot!

The third star is solely the Asphalt Pie… The mocha one… With fudge… Ermahgerd. The second star is for the baked beans. They are my boyfriend’s favorite. There are places in the valley with better bbq for sure, but nobody beats their beans. The meat is decent. The dry rub ribs were tender and the burnt ends are probably the best meat choice. Our waitress was helpful though I wouldn’t describe her as friendly per say. Overall this is a decent little bbq joint. Are there better places? Sure. But this is not a bad choice by any means, and like I said, if nothing else just come in and order baked beans and asphalt pie and you will not be disappointed.

BEANS. Baked Beans. So delicious, I may go out on a limb and say, «They are the best baked beans I’ve ever had», after one visit. I ordered the two meat and two sides combo. Had pork ribs and chicken thigh and leg. The winners for the evening were, of course, the baked beans(with plenty of onions on the side to make them even more amazing), and the chicken — WOW. So good, juicy and smokey, but not too smokey, if you know what I mean. The ribs were decent, if not a bit dry. The sauce that accompanied them was quite good — had a nice mild twang to it. Also, as an added bonus go on Friday nights between 7 – 9 pm for the folk band. It’s just an awesome vibe, even considering I came late and only caught their last song. Good service, old Midvale vibe, and good times.
