I was expecting to go to a veitnamese restaurant, but ended up parking in front of Kin Yobi Ramen, so we ended up eating here. Wow! Excellent Ramen! Yummy.

Decent ramen for its price. It wasn’t like ramen you’d find in San Mateo though. I got the spicy tonkotsu which wasn’t too spicy and the broth was good. Portion is large but noodles kind of looked like instant noodles. They were on the thinner side and lacked chewiness. Boiled egg was overcooked. Left satisfied but I expected it to be more similar to top ramen spots in the peninsula.

Slurp! Very yummy ramen. Spicy beef had a nice kick and flavor. Clean and nice servers.

The Spicy tonkatsu was delicious and it warmed my belly up with happiness. The ramen’s creamy broth was tasty(not to spicy), the pork & chicken was tender, the egg yolk was slightly over cooked and the portion size was big. I recommend to all Unilocaler’s, try the Spicy tonkatsu :)

This ramen is really really good! Great place for legit ramen. Great service as well, and the price is right!

My opinion echoes many of the other reviews here: easy to get seated, the restaurant is clean, but the food is the definition of «just ok.» Objectively, the ramen isn’t bad. The broth is solidly one-dimensional(I got tonkotsu), the noodles taste like packaged ramen noodles, the meat is normal, and the rest of the toppings are… also fine. For me, though, I go to eat ramen because I want a warm and filling meal with bold, rich flavors. This place alone is solid, but in the context of the many ramen shops around the area, I can’t say I’ll be back.

Bf and I were starving on a Sunday afternoon on our way up to the city so we stopped by Kin Yobi for some ramen. This restaurant is not owned by Japanese people so I think it’s not super authentic. I ordered the chicken ramen and my bf ordered teriyaki chicken with rice. My noodles were decent and I thought the broth was very light and tasty. That being said, it didn’t really feel like Japanese ramen. My bf really did not like his dish. The chicken was way too over salted. He also asked for egg on top like what you would get in oyako dons but they basically have him a fried egg and insisted that that was how the egg should be served. It was weird. I think prices are ok and there was no wait compared to the dim sum place next door. I wouldn’t go out of my way to return, but wouldn’t mind coming back if I was starving and in the area.

Went here on a Saturday night, one hour before they closed. It was really empty, so we got seated right away. My fiancé and I ordered the spicy tonkotsu. It wasn’t spicy at all, just had a small kick to it. The ramen was overall okay. I feel like the portions were really great. I would like to come back here again to try out other things on the menu, so expect an update after i’ve tried several things from this place.

Not bad. There was nothing very noteworthy. I was in the mood for ramen and this place fixed that.

Came here at around 1:15 pm on a Friday and it was almost empty. I ordered the spicy tonkostu ramen. The broth was good, I really enjoyed it. That being said, everything else was just average or below average. The noodles just below average, not chewy at all. The pork slices were just cooked and not a slight hint of BBQ. The karaage was OK and instead of a nori you get a lettuce? really a lettuce leaf in a ramen… The egg was just boiled, no flavor at all. I might come again on a rainy cold day just for the broth but most probably wold end up at another ramen joint.

This was an on the spot decision and it turned out to be perfect. We enjoyed the yakitori(grilled chicken skewers) and the ramen. The server checks on us once in a while. A small and cozy spot, makes me feel at home. Will definitely come back

Some girl friends & I found ourselves in Millbrae one Saturday night for an errand, and wanted a quick & easy dinner that required no to little wait. 4 star ramen joint seemed liked a good choice! It wasn’t busy but it still felt like it took awhile for our ramen to come out(no appetizers). My friends ordered the tonkotsu ramen and I ordered the Spicy Tonkotsu ramen. Just as my 2 stars dictate, it was must«meh». The tonkotsu broth was very one-note, when I order tonkotsu, I expect the broth to be complex and flavorful after being cooked for hours! The noodles were just OK and I don’t think the karaage really added anything to the bowl. My friends’ bowls were even blander than mine since they didn’t get spicy and added some of the spicy powder on the table. There’s a $ 15 minimum if you want to use a card, FYI if you want to split payment. It was decently priced, but I just wasn’t impressed.

The broth for the spicy beef ramen special was bland and not really spicy. I ended up throwing a lot of spice powder in my ramen to make it spicier. The beef was good and you get half of a boiled egg. Otherwise, nothing exciting about this dish. Compared to a couple of different ramen joints in San Mateo where toppings are almost endless and the broth is on point, it’s hard competition for Kin Yobi. The interior is nice and clean and the customer service was attentive and nice.

Gosh, I hate writing mediocre reviews for small businesses. I truly am a supporter for small businesses trying to make it especially in high inflated rent places like Millbrae. I came here late, around 8 pm with my two kids. It was empty at this time so I was happily greeted and severed right away. I LOVETHATABOUTTHISPLACE. I ordered the spicy tonkatsu ramen. My son had the tonkatsu ramen. The broth was ok. Nothing spectacular and not too shabby. Definitely a 6 on a scale of 1 – 10. I ordered medium heat which I added more of those red spices on the table because it was hardly spicy. I didn’t try anything else because I thought I would be too full with the bowl but surprisingly I finished it. This meant they didn’t give an abundance. I have another spot in Ssf that I prefer going to but this spot is good if you need something quick and very local!

The soup is good, the egg is over cooked and the ramen was ok, the soup flavor didn’t seem to stick to the noodles like other ramen shops. The food is good for a quick bite.

If you want to read a detailed review discussing textures and proper mixtures of flavor and yada yada yada… Skip this review. I spent a lot of time in Japan eating at ramen noodles shops across the country. I know good ramen. This place has ramen as good many of if not most of the typical Japanese ramen shops I love so much. The karaage was HOT! But very good. I had a strong sense of nostalgia. The kind that only certain smells and flavors can inspire. It’s small. But again, typical. Enjoy your food. This place is SOLID!

I’m always up for new ramen spots-especially good ones. Although, it may not fit the traditional expectations of most ramen, Kin Yobi is yet another good spot to add to my ramen explorations! This cute little joint has attentive and friendly service. The grilled squid was soft, pliable and mild in flavors with a ginger based dipping sauce to compliment. My bf ordered the tonkatsu ramen and I ordered the Mafu Tonkatsu Ramen which was spicy. We both enjoyed our hearty ramen full of pork slices, egg, fungus, green onion and fried tofu. I added enoki mushrooms and kimchi to beef it up a bit which made it even heartier. I’m big on veggies, but this ramen only came with a leaf of lettuce. I would add spinach next time, but that is really it. The broth is very flavorful with a nice viscosity that isn’t too thick or greasy. Although, quaint, this small ramen place is clean, comfy and modern. Come early though, to avoid the masses of little kids who frequent this place with their parents on the weekends. Once the place is full, it starts to sound like a daycare.

The ramens good but not as good as ramen parlor or santa ramen. The broth isn’t as rich, the toppings even though similar are just a shade under par. They were pretty generous with the cha siu though. Parking in this area isn’t great but once you’re in, there wasn’t any wait. The restaurant isn’t that big but if you’re group is 4 or less, you should be fine. Solid spot if you’re in a lunch rush since you can get in, eat, and get out, if you can find parking. $ 11 spicy tonkatsu ramen. ( )

I could not resist finally stepping inside after walking past it a few times and reading the Unilocal reviews. Initially I misjudged this was a may be a ramen place but it didn’t have that«feel.» The waitress worked solo and was nonstop making sure the tables were cleaned while keeping her customers happy. I ended up giving her a big tip. Extra credit she found time to chat with me and not miss a beat with the other customers. I ordered the spicy miso and side of pork belly. Both were excellent in flavor. I prefer more veggies in my soup than the char siu and karage so may try a different ramen next time.
