I love old fashioned dinner! I had their famous German baby. They are so good! It takes about 30min but you should try it!

Long time fan of Peters Café. We go here for their hearty breakfast, friendly owner’s and outstanding wait staff. This will remind you of a old fashioned Café where everyone is friendly the food is good and the prices are very reasonable !

This place is like traveling in time back to the cafes when I was a child, a time when the cafes were locally owned, not part of a chain, and prided themselves on using quality ingredients. The restaurant is still in 1950’s décor(think of the café in Pulp Fiction(which was filmed in a long time LA café diner)), with bluish leather booths(all appeared to be in good repair), stonework and all sorts of memorabilia. We went there late on a Sunday, and the place had some empty tables, but a large party was in the back room. Service was very friendly and attentive. We had the farmhouse omelet, which had obviously homemade sausage. The sausage was some of the best I’ve had in a long time. Fruit was substituted for the potatoes and was fresh. English muffin came out crisp and also was good. Bacon and eggs came as ordered, and the bacon was thick, high-quality. Wheat toast appeared to have been locally baked and was very fresh. Contrary to some of the reviews here, none of the food was greasy. Having eaten, probably far too many times, the apple pancake served at the Original Pancake House(to see a photo, add www to ), we ordered an apple baby. The pancake served here appears to be a handed down recipe that, over the many years of operation, has combined the Original Pancake German Apple Baby with the Original Pancake House apple pancake(thin almost Swedish batter baked with caramelized apples) into a single recipe. Good, but more like apples in a bread pudding. Instead of the posted 30 minutes, it took almost an hour to prepare. The«baby» is a total misnomer since it is so big it could probably serve four people. I think the pancake could have used more cinnamon and«sauce» for the apples. We will be back.

Do not order to go! This is not the 1st time the to go orders are undercooked. My hashbrowns were more like boiled potatoes. The chicken fried steak was undercooked as well. No bueno, missed out on what could have been a great breakfast.

We stumbled into this place by happenstance after missing a weekend train and finding ourselves with an hour to waste. What a sweet little diner! Service was friendly and efficient. Very cozy. Must try the Café Mocha. It’s the real deal. Absolutely perfect. Not too sweet. Pancakes were great! Spanish omelet was good.

Service is top notch, food super tasty, interiors a little old school but clean and up to the task. He had the biscuits n gravy which was divine. The gravy is maybe the best I’ve ever had. Super flavorful, rich and creamy! Biscuits light and fluffy like pillows of love. I had the Irish Benedict special. Super awesome, the corned beef was fried just right and the hash browns were perfectly browned! So dank and filling I could only eat half. Do NOT pass this place up!

I got the quesadilla and it was delicious. They gave a good amount of salsa and sour cream. The bill was less than $ 10. It was good comfort food and the service was incredibly fast and the staff was so friendly. No complains whatsoever. Also, bonus that it was right next to the Milbrae Caltrain Station.

This place has a classic style and humble atmosphere with friendly staff. Unfortunately the food is lackluster. My omelette was bland and overdone, my hash browns could have spent an extra minute or two on the griddle, and the pancakes are about as good as I could have made them when I was in middle school. Not bad, don’t get me wrong… Just not good. You won’t leave hungry. Just don’t expect too much in respect to quality and taste. Oh, and the coffee is kind of a bummer.

Always passing by this Diner but never sat down. So after my check up, we came by to try their food. Ambience was the old traditional Diner, so nice and friendly atmosphere, just how I like it to be. We were sat by a lady staff and was very nice and accommodating. We ordered Canadian Bacon with hash brown, scrambled egg and 2 pancakes and Corned beef with Hash, pancakes and scrambled egg. It was really good, corned beef was soft and tasty and their pancakes are very delicious. Just a side comment on the eggs though, it was dry and plain and i could have requested to add tomatoes and onions but well it was still tasty but could have been better. Over all: . Affordable and ambience is clean and fun

There was a wait but we were super hungry so we dat at the round bar right up front. We were immediately greeted by a young and happy waitress and brought some drinks. A delicious orange juice and a hot chocolate piled high with whip cream, one free refill! Hubby ordered a sausage and cheese omelet, comes with hashbrowns or fruit and toast or pancake. I got Swedish pancakes with an egg and sausage with lingonberry butter. Everything came out quick and was delicious! We will definitely be back.

We’ve been here a few times. Good food. Very friendly service. Some of the entrees we’ve ordered: Ox tail with rice and corn(special) Prime rib with rice and corn Meatloaf(special) Kids meal spaghetti with garlic bread Soup — clam chowder Salad — too much dressing. Ice cream for all, even though it only came with the kid meal. That was really nice.

Luke’s Diner to The Gilmore Girls, is Peter’s Café to my family and me. We’ve been residents of Millbrae for about ten years now and we love it here. Peter, his family that runs the café and the café itself is a part of what we love about this town. The café is on the is on the ‘vintage’ side but that is what gives it its character. «If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it?» The food is a step above Denny’s offering more variety on their menu. Yes, at times you may be subjected to bubble guts if you order something fried and greasy; so you may want to give yourself a minute to determine if you should use the bathroom if you have somewhere to go after your meal. Other than that, it is a great place to have a meal with your family or alone. If we are not looking for anything fancy, we come to Peter’s Café. If we feel like steaks, we head then head out to Mr. Peter’s, Sixteen Mile House!

My parents were visiting San Francisco for the first time since I moved about a year ago. We were heading south by train after a long day of sight seeing, but the Bart and Caltrain times didn’t coincide nicely and we had about 40 minutes to kill. I suggested going to Peter’s Café since I knew it was close to the station and we could grab a cup of coffee and stay warm until our train. We were greeted promptly and sat at a booth, upon looking at the menu my parents exclaimed that this was perfect for a quick dinner! I will say the reason that this review is getting a 5 star review is because my mother has severe Celiac disease and actually prefers not to eat out because of how stressful and concerning it is for there to be cross contamination. It became impossible for us to only cook at home for her while she was visiting so we politely asked the manager to accommodate her requests. They were very understanding and agreed and confirmed with us that they would make a plain burger on a separate pan and would just be served on a plate with no bun. We also had to explain that our train was coming in 40 minutes so we were on a bit of a time crunch and the manager was again completely understanding and told us food would only take about 10 minutes come out. She was right! The food came out quickly, it was a huge proportion and quite delicious. Most of all it gave me lots of peace of mind that they were so friendly, understanding, and most of all extremely accommodating to my other’s requests. Thank you Peter’s Café!

I’ve been eating at Peter’s Café for as long as I can remember. In fact, longer than when it was Peter’s café. Having grown up here I first knew it as Ben’s, then QQ café and now Peter’s. The prior two establishments were cozy and consistent but Peter’s gave it a family owned feel all on its own. I only eat here for quick late evening meals with friends arriving or departing for the airport so I don’t see Peter much these days. But the staff that is there still remembers me after all these years and always makes me feel appreciated and welcome. Parking is easy and the food is always consistent and delicious regardless of if you order breakfast, lunch or dinner. Pros: Cozy, convenient, friendly service and feels like a true diner Cons: None Bottom line: Great diner type spot with friendly service, good foods and desserts

It’s Veterans Day, we all have the day off, on our way to see a cartoon at the Disney Museum. So there are four places in The City that I had picked out, which one do we eat at? Peter’s Café, 12 miles south of San Francisco. Never mind how we ended up in Millbrae. But don’t worry, we got to the movie on time. I was looking for something besides the usual chain restaurant, and inexpensive. The hunny wanted a burger. The girl said«Burger King!» So we were driving north on El Camino Real from the San Mateo Bridge, looking for what could be a good place to eat. Then we saw what looked like an old-school café that was probably here when the Peninsula was a collection of middle-class suburbs of San Francisco(you know, before 1976). It was a late lunch, and the parking lot was still full. Okay, to Peter’s we go. Peter’s is one of those places that’s notable for being a typical diner in a neighborhood that’s famously atypical. Millbrae may be more typical than most of the Peninsula, but in an area with an $ 800,000 barrier to entry for home ownership, you’re more likely to find a classy bistro than Grandma’s café. Peter’s Café is a little bit of Boone IA just north of Burlingame CA, a family-owned version of Denny’s where the wait staff knows all the regulars by name, right in the center of town. Prices are good. Food quality is pretty good. We all had burgers, all cooked medium well: Canadian bacon on mine, regular bacon on the hunny’s, plain cheeseburger for the girl. Note: the girl got hers from the children’s menu, and it was still a regular-sized 1/3-lb burger, too much for an 8-year-old to eat at one sitting. On the other hand, she told us and the waitress, «This is better than what I expected.» The hunny says that all of it was good. The cole slaw was a little creamy for my taste, but I loved that Canadian bacon. For big eaters, there’s the Challenger, 3 patties for a total of one pound of beef, for $ 13.95 in 2015. The Peninsula has plenty of high-class joints and trendy eateries. But if you just want a regular old Joe meal, Peter’s Café works well.

This is a throwback kind of diner that offers all the classic American favorites and standard breakfast fare. When I lived in Millbrae, I always passed by but never once stopped in… until recently. My husband and I were staying in a nearby hotel and decided to get breakfast here one morning. Upon walking in and getting seated, the clientele seemed to consist of regulars and people en route to the airport. 90s R&B music played overhead, which was kind of odd but funny. Hearing Keith Sweat’s «Twisted» playing while eating eggs, surrounded by old white people and businessmen was just slightly bizarre to me lol. Service was prompt and friendly. If you like throwback diners, vinyl booths, and 90s R&B — Peter’s Café in Millbrae is the place for you.

I’ve been here multiple times and not checked in(what was I thinking???) I’ve had pretty much most of their breakfast items, from waffles to their Swedish pancakes and omelets and sausage and eggs. Their food is good and almost never a wait. Even during lunch time, the wait is usually 5 min or less. Today I went a group of 15 or so, of the 15, 4 were kids. They had a coloring page and crayons for kids. Since we were a group of 15, we had a whole room all to ourselves which was really nice. I ordered the chef special. scramble. My meal and two of the kids order came last. In my opinion, I believe the kids stuff should have came first then everyone else. The egg orders had an option for hash browns, home fries or fruit and pancakes or toast. I wanted to be semi-healthy and had fruit and pancakes. I enjoyed my omelet and even had it boxed because I ate my pancakes and fruit first. Yum!!!

Old school café that serves honest food and generous portions at very reasonable prices. The service is friendly, attentive, and accommodating. The quality of the food varies but is fine overall. We were there for Mother’s Day and it was packed. Thankfully, they take reservations for parties greater than 10 people! Give this neighborhood locale a chance!

Stopped in *finally* after 8 months of passing by this place on my way to work. So many times I’ve longed to skip the office grind for a cup of coffee and a slice of pie. When a coworker chose Peter’s for her birthday lunch today, I was immediately along for the ride. The pie pickin’s are pretty slim, but pretty much any other diner fare you’re looking for, you’ll find. Burgers, omelets, waffles, all that jazz. There’s a 60+ menu, a Weight Watchers menu, a kids menu… Service was nice, though not particularly exceptional. For $ 2 they’ll give you a mug, creamer, and your own coffee canteen, which was pretty cool. I got the«2-eggs any style» with hashbrowns and rye toast for $ 7 — you can also substitute pancakes for the toast if you’re looking to fit even more carbs and sugar into your daily intake. The food’s alright — nothing flashy going on here. My eggs were eggy, my browns were lightly browned, my toast was pretty toasted. A-ok. Don’t know that I’d go out of my way in the future, but after a long flight I could see where this place would be a godsend. If you’re hanging out with a large crowd and find yourself looking for slightly-expensive-but-the-portions-are-big-so-it’s-okay diner food, check out Peter’s.

Its a large bright restaurant on the corner of a busy intersection. My ride was going to be late, so I settled in for dinner after a very short walk from the Caltrain station. It looks a bit outdated(retro would be inaccurate), but it was pretty clean, the service was polite and I got my food fairly quickly. I was surprised by the prices though. Most of the items were moderately expensive for your basic diner food, I would have much preferred smaller portions and less expensive dishes. I scanned for something reasonable and I decided on the locomoco — a hamburger patty and eggs with gravy over rice which came with a side of pancakes or toast all for about $ 10 + tax. This was actually a pretty decent value and of course I went with the pancakes because… c’mon, toast vs. pancakes? The verdict? The food was a bit disappointing. The pancakes were off and the food was bland, needed some salt and I was forced to add hot sauce. I might come back to try something else but I’m not sure it would be worth it. Is it cheaper for brunch? 3 stars.
