Fitz’s is well… it’s Fitz’s. A dive-y type bar, that really doesn’t fit in(Or does it stand out?) in the touristy-party drunk Water street area. Usually, Fitz himself is behind the bar. It’s a place for regulars, and judging by the stream of folks coming in and out, it might be the only place in the area to buy overpriced smokes. Why is this on my «Drinking by the numbers» list? BEER– 1 $ a glass– don’t ask what brand, some have suggested it’s Milwaukee Best Light, others say it’s Natty Light. Only FITZ knows– but if you’re digging through couch cushions for your next malty adult beverage, you can’t beat the price. $ 1.00 beer– all day, all night, every day, every night.

Bar dice is all I can say! Shuffleboard would put this place on the map. Fun place bring cash for the juke as its not TouchTones.

Fitz is the man! If your looking for a ‘throw-back’ old school bar where you can relax and chill then this is the place for you. Its non fancy neighborhood pub feeling is where good conversations are born! Besides the $ 1.00 beer deal is unheard of and simply adds to the true charm of the place. Do yourself a favor and grab a cold one & strike up a conversation with Fitzy; he’s the man. Warning… stay away from his Irish Car Bombs:)

If you haven’t been inside, you have no idea it exists. Dan, Eileen, and Fitz himself are an absolute blast. My boyfriend and I have introduced this bar to many friends who have also become addicted to their loving. If you’re not a picky beer drinker– get their $ 1 «beer” — thats just it. Its just«beer» Don’t try to get too rowdy in here if you’re a newbie, they’ll kick your ass out as fast as possible. They take no shit and thats the beauty of it. The decorations are outrageously fantastic & beautifully old and dusty. Try it out, play some bar dice with Dan or Eileen, and grab a $ 1 Beer.

Nice friendly neighborhood pub. The bartender(Ann) introduced me to the other folks sitting at the bar. She also was very good about moving up and down the bar making conversation with everyone. This will definitely be one of my favorites!

Relatively speaking, this is a good water street bar. Pretty much what you should expect… Beer, food, good night life

Okay, you must check out Fitzgibbons’ website. After you read it(make sure you click on all the tabs — funny stuff), you’ll get the vibe of this little pub. At a ripe ol’ age of 102, this bar is as laid back as they come. Bartender was very cool, beer was very cold and bar patrons were friendly. Check out«Water Street’s oldest gin joint» when you go to Milwaukee. Fitzgibbons will not disappoint.

Stopped here for an NBA Draft Party. It is a very small, but cool bar. The only negative was that the Men’s room wasn’t Wheelchair accessible, so when I had to go… I had to go… down the street!

Fitzgibbon’s is a typical Milwaukee bar(my favorite kind) with an Irish twist. You may not even notice it’s here as the other bars that surround it are much more high profile but it’s certainly worth a visit. I laugh every time I go in, as Fitzgibbons does not take itself seriously at all. Want food? Head to the«wall of snacks» as they don’t serve any food. Want something other than a beer or a shot? They are likely to send you down the street to some place that would actually make a «frou frou dink» for you. Want some advice? The friendly bartender is certain to hand it out whether you want it or not. And add to that the patrons of the bar who listen and engage in all that you do and you are sure to have an interesting visit. Music is good, bathrooms are clean, there are plenty of TV’s and street parking is easy except on Saturday nights. And while I didn’t see it on my last visit– I hear there is a pool table outside. Can that be? Fitzgibbon’s isn’t for everyone– only those who want a good drink in a real bar. As for the rest of you? Plenty of other stops on Water Street. Just keep moving on. ..

We were up in Milwaukee for a night and stumbled into Fitzgibbon’s after a few drinks at Water Street Brewery. What a difference a few doors down makes! WSB is an okay, family friendly, pre-Bucks game type of place, but Fitzgibbon’s is a proper bar. Excellent pours of Smithwick’s, nice bartenders, good music, good times. Fitzgibbon’s will be visited again the next time we head up north for a weekend!
