Traveling in Milwaukee for business by myself and grabbed some lunch here before a brewery tour. Sat on the patio… it was a nice day but they really need some kind of shade. The trellis has nothing on it. I got a Bloody Mary that was decent. I ordered the hangover burger with tots and added lettuce to the burger. It was cooked medium as requested but it took like 25 minutes to get it to me. The tots were crispy but nothing revolutionary. The service was terrible. It took the waitress between 5 and 10 minutes to get my drink order and I nearly finished my burger before I was able to flag her down for some ketchup for the tots and a water;she took the check and visited the table of three several times right next to me and ignored me. It was a Sunday and steady but not terribly busy.

While waiting for service for about 25 minutes I finally put an order in. By the time I got a drink, my friend went to the bathroom. He was rudely pushed out of his seat when he returned. I have never experienced such a rude bartender and owner. He tried buying us a «fine» shot to make things better. End of story… Don’t bother going here for food or drinks. Such a disgusting place to go.

Went here for Brunch on Sunday. They have a decent beer selection. The brunch menu has minimal lunch options and very little healthy or vegetarian items. My boyfriend ordered the chicken fried pork and waffles and I ordered some kind of spinach and chicken salad. Both were delicious!

I love the idea of this place. The food is great and enjoyable, with a bunch of flavor. The drinks, they market themselves as a craft beer bar but it seems to feel like a bar with MGD and Bud. The selection of craft beer is not too bad but how they serve it, could use some work. I ordered a barrel aged beer and it came in a chalice… Ummm did I order a mixed drink? Please use a snifter, the proper attire for a barrel aged beer. The service, is about average for a place that can be busy at times. The atmosphere, with beer, sports, and stuff. It can get loud but it could be worth it.

This was my third time here and whenever I’m in Milwaukee I try to make it here. The food, service, and landscape are always amazing. Fifty three beers on tap from a variety of locations, can’t go wrong.

A straight forward gastropub. This place has a really great selection of craft beer on tap from around the country, including a few ciders. The menu is a pretty standard gastropub consisting of mostly elevated bar food. I really enjoy this place. A casual atmosphere, good location, and some really beautiful outdoor seating along the river for the warmer days. In my experiences the staff has always been friendly and personable. I would say the standout is definitely the amount of craft beer choices. As far as the food goes, the nachos and the barley crusted ahi burger are favorites of mine. I haven’t found nachos in Milwaukee that I like better(you gotta add the pork), and I have yet to find an ahi burger that hits the spot like this one. Some of the food feels a little pricey, but I’ve always left feeling satisfied.

Hard not to love Stubby’s. It’s a gastropub meaning they serve high-end beer and food. Stubby’s lives up to that and then some. With over 50 beers on tap, no typo there, yes 53 to be exact, they will have a brew to satisfy even the fussiest of beer snobs. My particularly favorite nite is Thursday, $ 3 off all taps. Having over 50 beers on tap means you rotate constantly. They do just that switching up the selection on a regular basis. The wait staff is also very helpful and fun to vibe with, which adds to the Stubby’s charm. Happy hour is a killer time to pop in as a lot of their food is on special. Favorite foods include: Stubby’s one of a kind, oh so delicious, cheese curds. Also love the meatloaf sandwich! Really good stuff here! The pork sliders are phenomenal as well as the Friday fish fry is one of the best in MKE. They also have some truly unique french fry, tater tot combinations worth trying. To simply put it, Stubby’s has good food all around. Check out the deck overlooking the river in the spring, summer, fall. One of the better decks to spend late nights on. There’s not many places in town that are the total package like Stubby’s.

I rarely find myself in this position but I think that I really like Stubby’s. Typically not drawn to the bar food scene, I actually requested Stubby’s the other night. Both occasions have been very different in terms my experience but my satisfaction with the food, service, and atmosphere has remained the same. I do not expect great service from a place like this but they have wowed me both times. Something that I truly value, service is an expectation no matter where I eat. When it comes to the food I have had burgers and wings. This is bar food 101 and it is spot on from apps to desserts. Nice job producing a low cost, great tasting meal that makes me come back. 5 stars are hard to come by in my book but Stubby’s is pushing the boundaries for it’s genre. Well done. Well done.

I’ve been really into Stubbys for a while now they have a great beer selection, an excellent patio, and good food. Beer-wise I’m very in to Abita beers and they always have a great selection on tap. I kind of wish they would do more with beer cocktails for my friends that can’t do a straight up beer. However, I think that just about anyone can find a least one beer they’d like here. Food-wise– I think that they have the best nachos in the city(add a protein) by far! Also, I have not found a better ahi tuna sandwich in the city(or elsewhere). I’m not a huge cheese curd fan, but I know that everyone that has them loves them! As a bartender, I always recommend this place when people are looking for a new place to kick it.

Ya gotta love the smell of stale beer when you walk in the door(actually, I kinda do). Stubby’s is the epitome of the hangover food go-to spot. Was in Milwaukee on a Sunday and we found our way to Stubby’s for lunch. As beer snobs, we were impressed with their selection and dipped into the IPA and the porter they had on draft from Karben4 in Madison. Both great beers, btw, and two of 53 they have on draft. Yes…53! I had the classic/original Stubby’s burger and my wife had their reuben. We thought both were good. Each of us opted for their tater tots as sides. While good(hard to screw up tater tots, right?), they had way too much salt on them. We were with our son and he ordered their chocolate chip pancakes. They were a bit bland, but no one complained about three 10-inch cakes with powdered sugar on top(again, this is great hangover food). Parking is a little weird right where they’re located, but, all in all, good food, good beer and a good time at Stubby’s.

Great place to go for a beer. Not so much for food. Food is average at best, a little on the bland side. I have had problems finishing meals here for this reason; lack of taste. For what you get(bland food) their prices are a little on the high end. I definitely recommend going here for a beer — their selection is unmatched by any other establishment in the area. It is also nice they are stocked with the appropriate beer glasses for each type of beer. They can get crowded for sporting events/weekend evenings. If you don’t mind the crowds, this would be a great place to watch a game. My preference is to come here during happy hour times to avoid the crowd.

Brunch time. Pancakes are SOOOO big — the size of a mid sized pan! And they give you three per order! I guess pancake fans must love it.

Brought some out of town guests to Stubby’s for a pre-brewery tour dinner over the weekend & it went a little something like this: The«Pork Bomb» sandwich is just out of this world delicious. The only thing that makes me wish we didn’t get the super tasty cheese curds as an appetizer, is because then I would’ve had more room to finish that sammie! 2 burgers, a reuben & some wings also landed at our table & received rave reviews. The beer selection is good, the service was great, and I love their patio in the spring /summer months! I’ll be heading back to Stubby’s again soon, and you can find me daydreaming about the Pork Bomb until then …

The selection of beers at Stubby’s is off the charts, almost overwhelming, almost. They are all quality beers and a great variety. Most of the staff there is also really knowledgeable at helping navigate you to the beer that you are looking for. The food is also yummy, I would highly suggest trying the bacon tater tots with any one of the aiolis to dip. Om nom nom. This is also a great place to watch a game, any game really, there are several different big(and small) screen tvs that generally have multiple games on at any given time.

Wow, wow, and wow … Best cheese curds I ever had and only wished I had room to try more of the menu. Good people, good service = good times. When I searched out best cheese curds in town, I found what I was looking for.

When I think about our experience, there really isn’t anything I would say needed changing. Awesome beer menu. Not a huge food menu, but the stuff they have is traditional bar fare with an elevated twist. For me, it was just the right mix of approachable and creative. I had the grilled cheese with taters and cole slaw. The grilled cheese was really good — the smoked mozzarella was awesome. I’d order an extra side of tomato jam next time, because it got a little lost inside the sandwich. The cole slaw was really freaking good, and I am not normally into that kind of thing. My mom got the mac n cheese and she said it was the best she’s ever had. It was a creamy style mac with lots of rosemary flavor.(Some people might find it too much, but we were into it.) Our server was friendly and attentive. No complaints there. It’s in a newer building, so the décor inside is missing a bit of that personality and charm, but I think they are doing what they can. Décor is pretty far down on my list of importance for restaurants. I would choose cleanliness over personality almost every time.

Stubby’s has great service, plentiful beers on tap, and a nice patio on the Milwaukee River. I’ve been to Stubby’s several times and have never left disappointed. They offer happy hour special, and have several ciders(I’m really into the ciders!). I also really like the Stubby’s Light — I’m a light beer or dark beer girl and do not care for much in between. All the food I have tried has always been very good. They often switch up menu items as well and have had new items each time I visit. On our last visit, we ordered the Nachos — which was a HUGE plate of food — and the Stubby’s Nicoise salad. The Nicoise was fantastic!!! The Ahi tuna and all the ingredients were just perfect and I enjoyed every bite. Our waitress came to check on us often, but not so often that we were annoyed. The establishment and bathrooms are very clean. Parking can be a bit tricky but I have never had a problem getting a decent close parking spot. I recommend if you are in the area and have never been. It is a fun place to check out, even if you are just stopping in for a beer.

This review is in terms of drinks and ambiance. Stubby’s is in a good location although the street that it is on and parking is kind of a janky layout. Watch for it on the east! They have a pretty great selection of beers, for some reason the menu always takes a minute to figure out how to read but once you do, all the info about a given libation is listed. It’s a large place and fun for Packer games. They have a few other billiards like pool, darts and a few video games(golf, shoot em up something or other…). A good stop for pub crawls.

I’m giving this place a short review based off my first and short experience. It was the first bar I visited on my first trip to Milwaukee. All I gotta say is thanks to the server for being nice and introducing me to Dragon’s Milk bourbon barrel stout. Thanks to him, I’ve found my new favorite beer. Sad to say that I probably won’t be able to drink it unless I visit Milwaukee ’cause I don’t think they sell it in Vegas, which includes Total Wine and the other big liquor chain here. Maybe we’ll give their food a try the next time we visit Milwaukee.

Came here for an amazing beer dinner about 2ish months ago and they really delivered in terms of quality and character. Also came here with the extended family(with kiddos) and once again they delivered in flexibility and appeal to all ages. They’re delivering, people! That grilled cheese. Those nachos. Give me summa that.

I used to go to Stubbys every Tuesday for trivia. They have a super extensive beer list and let me tell you it is impressive! I love their huge selection of beers they have it all from IPA’s to PBR. They also always have creative desserts available that change day to day, which is important to someone with a sweet tooth like me :]

I haven’t been here enough to know enough of the menu, but I never go wrong coming here for brunch and ordering the eggs Benedict. To quote the menu, it is «Two poached eggs served atop English muffins with slow-roasted Berkshire ham, then finished with Hollandaise and a handful of Caiter’s taters.» I think the menu speaks for itself as to how delicious that will be. A nice patio. 53 beers on tap is a great thing to have. Noise here can be a bit heavy at times, but I suppose this is kind of a sports bar(without that douchy sports bar atmosphere). A couple beers and an expensive dish can easily drive the price per person up to $ 40. I think that we visit this place about 50% of the time when we try to go to Bel Air Cantina but don’t want to wait an hour. The other 50% of the time is that we’re drawn in for beer or need a place for brunch. Parking is something to be desired, as you may end up walking a couple blocks as it is all street parking. After visiting here more and more, I’ve come to realize that my favorite dish for dinner is the black bean burger with giardiniera. It is a fantastic hand made burger on a brioche roll. Absolutely delicious.

If the review was just about great beer in would be 6 starts. They have excellent and rare rotating taps, and some nice brewer centered events. Otherwise food is hit or miss, and the prices of most things seem to be $ 1 – 2 more than they should. Hopefully the servers are getting paid more, as they are definitely an asset. Again the beer taps rock. I’ll pay the cost to try a few of them. I had walked my Yorkies here for a MKE beer week firkin opening(4÷18÷2015), and ended up riding my bike back when I found out they added Spppaaaacccce Ghooooossssttt(Space Ghost by Central Waters) to the keg opening list for a little later in the afternoon. Appetizers and sides just seem to be lacking quality and/or pizzazz. Pig sticks, wings, chips, eh. I’ve not come here all that often because they actually harm the stop for a beer or two experience. Burgers they do better on, and Saturday the fake burger I had was excellent. The Humboldt Hipster(apply named as whatever health benefits a true Riverwest hippie strives to achieve are slaughtered by the giardinara and Muenster) looks like any other great New Orleans inspired burger Milwaukeeized by a pretzel bun, but it’s actually a thick slab of black beans, corn, and magic in that burger. The pretzel is soaking up and cleanly containing chipotle mayo, and the cheese and giardinara grease that makes you care not about missing meat. A bit spicy, yet since I was drinking a beer made with ghost peppers, a server told me a list of hot sauces and was nice enough to then track down some sriracha for me to make it a even better pairing. I believe the dairy free version of this would still be pretty dang good. I just didn’t want to chance a flavor letdown considering my other food experiences here, and with the Muenster it was as I said excellent. If you happen to be Bulls’ fan, you’ll have lots of company here. I remember plenty Cubs’ fans there in times past too. Otherwise they just don’t seem to have enough TVs, and aren’t good at splitting coverage of ones they have to be considered a true sports bar. One big game, sure. Two or more you’ll strain you’re neck switching. Just concentrate on your tasty beer.

I’ve been to Stubby’s a few times on Tuesdays for their 50 cent wings and trivia. The wings are good, not great, and only come in a handful of sauces. I appreciate a good sauce, so I would appreciate more variety on the sauce front. The trivia is also good, not great. I am just not a fan of the America’s Pub Quiz format. It is slow and there is too much down time. We did get second place and a $ 20 gift card our first time there, so I guess I cant complain. The best part of Stubby’s is the beer list. Its very very long, and there are quite a few Wisconsin brews to choose from. I go to Stubby’s for the wings and trivia, but I stay for the beer. One area often overlooked in reviews is the restroom. Restrooms can make or break an experience. Thus, I have made it my duty to bring restroom reviews to Unilocal.Stubby’s restroom would get 2 stars. There was toilet paper on the floor, the counter tops were covered in water, and the trash can was overflowing. The restrooms are also located very far from the dining area.

Stubby’s has never done wrong by me. Typically I’ve gone for drinks/apps. Their apps are pretty standard(curds, taters, anything with bacon, etc.) but nothing exceptional. Their selection of beers is HUGE. Their bartenders are friendly. On the weekend evenings they can get pretty packed. If you’re looking to day drink and catch a game on a weekend though, you will likely find a spot waiting for you at Stubby’s. Weekday lunch and it’s completely empty so you can get in and out quickly. It has a hidden parking area down the hill, or else street parking. If you’re hitting it at a busy time, parking can be hard. Also, it’s within walking distance of Lakefront Brewery(if you don’t mind walking a little) and they give you a coupon for Stubby’s if you’ve taken the tour, so it’s worth popping over!

My boyfriend and I were trying to find a place neither of us had been to for a huge to eat and we were kind of baffled that we both hadn’t been to Stubbys. I’ll admit it wasn’t our first choice, but everywhere else had a pretty hefty wait time at 8:30pm on a Saturday. We were seated right away, in prime people-watching territory. It might also be worth mentioning that this was after a Marquette game. If you know what I mean, you understand the sights and sounds we witnessed. For as basic as the whole establishment is, the beer menu is phenomenal. It was supposed to be one of our«cut back on drinking» days, but that didn’t happen. There’s a strange clause on the menu that states if you don’t like your beer, you can’t return it. This is baffling to me as to why you would need to put this on your menu(and if its because this was a common occurrence – yikes!) The food menu was very standard. I wasn’t expecting anything fancy, but everything was a bit overpriced. I ordered a regular burger medium rare, and it was possibly the rarest piece of meat I’ve ever eaten. It was super greasy, which isn’t necessarily the worst, but it was so much so that it made it difficult to eat. Regardless, it tasted fine. Our server was a little awkward, but friendly and helpful so I have no personal complaints about service. However, there was a table near us of 8 people where one of the girls was hunched over her plate, obviously dangerously intoxicated. While her friends were being bad friends for carrying on their conversations and meals while ignoring this girl’s obvious impairment, she was over served(there were empty bottles surrounding her plate). I get that this is Milwaukee and drinking is a big deal(especially paired with sports), but PLEASE cut people off when they are passing out at the table. This was more off putting to me than anything else that was sub par about Stubbys. Drink AND serve responsibly.

Huge beer selection. Stubs has specials for happy hour and very patient bartenders. I witnessed one help a young lady find a beer even from his interview and a few tastes he was able to find a beer that she enjoyed. Talk about talent.
