Going home(Orange County, CA) from South Lake Tahoe and found this restaurant via Unilocal.Tried the Chicken Fried Chicken… delicious! Also bought a cup.

Exactly what I want in a breakfast diner… big menu, huge servings, reasonable prices, friendly service and delicious food. I ordered the 2 egg ham steak breakfast with home fries and sourdough toast. The ham steak covered half the plate(I actually only ate half of it and brought the other half home.) Eggs over medium were perfect, and the home fries were just like my mom used to make… irregular chunks of potatoes and onions, crispy brown and delicious. Plus, fresh brewed iced tea, which my server kept full. Highly recommended!

Almost forgot to update my review… we were in again. This time tried the biscuits and gravy and it was excellent. Great, friendly service as usual. I guess my only complaint here is the coffee. Standard… weak. Wish they would at least consider going with Farmer Bros.

Won a gift certificate at a charity auction for this restaurant and decided to give it a try for lunch today. Place was busy, however we we seated quickly and drink orders taken. I ordered the Swiss mushroom burger with onion rings and hubby had hot pastrami with fries. Both meals were served fast, hot and with great flavor. We will come back again to try Sunday breakfast soon!

A fine place to get an early morning high calorie fix in «Minderville». It’s a little difficult to find, so keep a sharp eye out, especially if it’s 6 in the morning and you are still bleary eyed before having your morning coffee. They are right on 395 and do open at 6 am, which as an early morning traveler, I do appreciate that; since I have been noticing that many so-called breakfast restaraunts are opening later in the morning. I had the waffles, eggs, and sausage and all was satisfactory. The food is wholesome and filling and the staff are friendly. Check out the Cowboy Café. Yee haw!

Our favorite weekend spot! The food is so amazing, we love everything we have ever tried. Hard to try something new because we love our usual(chorizo burrito and eggs benny) so much. Also had the pancakes and biscuits and gravy all have been incredible. We won’t go anywhere else for breakfast. Weekends the place is packed, but always worth the wait.

Called for a take out order on Sunday. They told me they didn’t do take out on the weekends. I started to ask why and I was promptly hung up on. Called back and found out that Heather hung up on me. I just wanted an answer as to why they didn’t do takeouts on the weekends. I was told that the kitchen is too small and they have no where to put takeout boxes. Takeout is the easiest way to make quick money in a restaurant. You don’t have to serve anyone and no customer takes up a table. Pretty poor excuse that they can’t find a spot in the kitchen to stack take out boxes that are 8×8 inches. Poor customer service by hanging up on a customer asking questions and a poor business practice.

An unique dinner with friendly staff and fast service. Locals flock to this very cute hole-in-the-wall place. We got the Reuben and Philly-cheese steak sandwiches with fries and the onion rings! Amazing! A special place we will always come back to visit.

Oh my what a nice little place. Service was good very friendly. I had the Cowboy Benedict which was solo good. My wife had the ham and eggs(which she really enjoyed. My Father in law had the Chicken fried steak which was huge and he said was better than«Katie’s» kitchen. I would definitely eat and recommend here. The only thing I don’t like is all sodas are cans but that’s not anything.

The food is good but the staff is nowhere near friendly. One would expect the attitude would be better considering the town is so small, pretty disappointing.

Cowboy’s Café in Minden was the last stop we made before driving home from Nevada on New Year’s weekend. I wanted something moderately light since I expected to spend the next 4 or 5 hours in the car and I was driving. Our friendly waitress brought me some hot coffee(perfect!) and took our orders. Husband went straight for the biscuits and gravy plate and I ordered two eggs and hashbrowns. It came with toast also which I had hoped to switch for tomato slices(they were the same price on the«sides» menu), but I ended up having to give my husband the sourdough and ordering a side of tomato for myself. I received a coffee refill without having to ask for it: EXCELLENT! Food came and I would have liked to see tomato slices just a little bit thicker than what I got, but the plates were otherwise full of food. My husband’s plate was smothered in gravy with large biscuits underneath. My two eggs were cooked perfectly over-medium, and the extra-crispy hashbrowns were delicious, but unexpectedly greasy. I actually stuck a napkin under one edge of my plate to drain the oil to one side so I could eat off the other. Overall, pretty good food and terrific service. Even had a manager(or owner maybe) come say hi and make sure we were happy with everything before we left. Love that!

I planned to try again and go there for lunch following a haircut next door. 3 of the Cowboy’s Café help standing out in front by the entrance smoking cigarettes. I did not bother to go in.

We loved this little diner, a great stop along your 395 road trip. It’s a tiny café, so expect a wait on a Saturday or Sunday morning. Worth it, though.

This is a great little find if you are in Minden and want some tasty, diner style food! The chicken fried steak was perfect, had a great crunch to it and was tender as could be. Home fries were a little soggy but I am one that likes any potato product crispy so that is my personal taste speaking up. They also serve what looked and tasted like a homemade biscuit and boy was it delish! There was a $ 1 upcharge on the bill, I’m assuming from the biscuit as we didn’t order anything else out of the ordinary. Coffee was nothing spectacular, I’d say average for your ‘run-of-the-mill’ breakfast spots. Service was very friendly and fast. Coffee never went empty. We went during the NV day parade and the place was still packed with a wait the whole time we were there so I would imagine it would have been an even longer wait on a normal weekend day, so be prepared.

Wow. The owner of this place is a total jerk! We came in with a group of 7, the place was busy but not too bad… when we said party of 7, it was followed with, «we’ll wait» understanding that they may need time to accommodate us. However, the owner came over and said, «you’re outta luck. We’ll be closed by the time we can get to you.» I do suspect this to be race related, as my husband is African American and the owner would not even look him in the eye! We saw through the hidden meaning of your statements! Look buddy, you don’t deserve our business, and hoping others will not support this type of treatment and will choose another restaurant.

We were heading out of town early on Saturday and had planned on stopping at Denny’s, but thanks to other Unilocalers, I found out that they had closed before we came into town from Reno. I found Cowboy’s Café on Unilocal and they were a fan favorite of the group. The breakfast was reasonably priced and the portions were good sized. The waitress was wonderful and all seven of our orders came out right the first time. Cowboy’s Café was an unexpected treat and started our trip out on a great note!

As usual it’s a full house! But fear NOT, the tables turn quick! Service is always friendly, fast(never rushed) and ALWAYS accurate! Like orange juice? It’s FRESHSQUEEZED daily here, and is a must have! FULL of pulp, so if you’re not a pulp lover ask for the other orange juice which it’s not fresh squeezed but still good! I always get breakfast here. The omelettes are perfectly cooked, never brown or runny! The chicken fried steak is amazing! If there’s a special and it’s something they«smoked», then you can bet that will be amazing too! Don gets the smoker going nice and early to ensure good eatin’ for the day! Whether you are driving thru our staying nearby, Cowboys Café is a must stop destination. You can eat here every day of the week and get something different! If you’re going out for the day, get something for lunch to go, you won’t be disappointed!
