Nice selection of local beers. Breakfast was reasonable on game day. Nice location to tcf stadium!

I really like the food– but been here a few times to drink late night and they advertise drink deals«until close» but then tell you after midnight the deals are done. Just obnoxious that you have drink specials that you can’t stay true to

Good beer, great deals, not very professional and the bar tender is a dick and didn’t know much about his beer(at least the guy tonight didn’t on 9−27−15 at 1am). Physically the bar is possibly the least attractive bar I have ever been too, what can you expect in dinky town late at night?

Classy-looking main bar with an outside patio during summer, flanked by a cheaply-built extension in back and a stuffy basement. When I was a student at the University of MN — Twin Cities I used to come here every week to meet with a student group for the food and the happy hour specials, and also with my then-boyfriend to play pool during late-night happy hour. Since the new stadium was built their prices in general increased, and they have changed their happy hour specials — it used to be 2-for-1 taps during their early HH, now it’s only $ 1 off. PRO: tasty cocktails, give The Wanderer a try. PRO:(for alcoholics) they have some good weekly drink specials which are posted on their website. MEH: the pool tables tend to be unbalanced due to the tables often being moved, but the staff will usually help you to level them. CON: more expensive menu on game days. CON: fries taste like meat grease(vegans beware!) CON: lots of loud fratbro regulars.

After finishing the long, dreaded moving of my huge queen size bed from my old apartment to my new place, I went out for a drink with my friend who had helped me move. We tried sitting in the patio but ended up sitting in the back area with pool tables because the patio was full. If you are a smoker or just enjoy the sunlight while having a drink, I would recommend going out to the patio if space is available. Now, moving on to the overall experience, the waitress was friendly and approachable. We ordered two beers and because it was pretty quiet earlier in the evening, we were able to have a good conversation, which is not always the case in loud bars. If you are looking to have a beer or two with friends and are around campus, stop by and check it out. This place is spacious to hold bigger groups as well.

Was in here about a month ago and saw a mouse run from under the booth to grab a chicken wing off the floor. That’s all that needs to be said about this place.

Pretty nice bar near the U. I go here for beer and food. They have really good beer selection and the price is pretty reasonable as well. I wouldn’t say their food is the best, but decent. I like their burgers with portobello mushroom– they use pretzel bun which makes their burger special. I also had their fish and chips and it was good– the fish was thick and fresh(crispy outside, juicy inside). Their fries were dry and pretty thin– not recommend, but I really liked their tater tots and onion rings even though they were greasy a bit too much! Good place to go when you crave greasy food and beer.

Stopped for lunch while visiting my daughter at the University. I originally thought this would be a get place to get a beer and something to eat. It has a good beer and has a classic college dive vibe. I couldn’t have been more wrong. This place is disgusting. The glasses are dirty, the waitress seemed lost and my stuff bleu burger had a ball of hair in it, not just one hair. I literally felt sick to stomach. I showed the waitress and she was repulsed but could only offer to have a new burger cooked for me or not have to pay for my meal. I’ll never step foot in there again and can only hope developer buy the block, tear this place down and build college housing.

Previously I have written to express my pleasure with stub n herbs’ lemons. Tonight befalls a tragedy, in which I have been told that beyond a 3 lemon cap, I will be charged for lemon wedges. It is a dark day for all when you sit in an establishment and order an 11 dollar burger, plus some for a smattering of mayo, and are unable to have more than 3 pathetic lemon wedges. Beyond that, the lemons I was given are nothing more than dry, mostly pulp wedges of inhospitable sadness. I revoke my previous glowing assessment, in favor of expressing my disdain for my current experience. Also, staff has been weirdly rude every time I come here, 4 times in the past. Like, real talk, staff needs to step up their game. I get it if it is busy and I get that serving a bunch a customers is super stressful. Half the time it’s not busy and service is still spotty at best. Please don’t ignore us for most of the time and then be rude when you happen to drop by.

This place was exactly what I was expecting. Greasy food, and a disgusting bathroom, your typical divey college bar. I got my beer and burger, so good enough for me. This is your basic bar food, so go elsewhere if you’re looking for something exotic or fancy. All of their burgers come on a pretzel bun. I went with the stub classic, with mushroom, bacon, and a 1000 island sauce. The burger was cooked to hell, and slightly grey. My bun was glistening, and my onions rings were dripping oil. Just what I hoped for. Solid beer selection here, and the drinks came fast. Our server was good, but super awkward. She should probably not make this a career. The restaurant itself had a dirty vibe. The bathroom was so gross, I would have been happier just going in the street, but then I might have gotten arrested.

It’s been around for what feels like decades and the atmosphere of a college bar did not disappoint. We went before the packers/Vikings game. The bar had plenty of options and the bloody Mary’s were just what I needed before the noon kick off. We did not eat while there but the menu looked to have some delicious options. Be prepared as it will be crowded before a football game but the wait was worth it.

Great place for a beer before the game, but pass on the breakfast burrito. Overspiced and just flat out not good. Good outdoor setup for hanging with friends. Other than that, it needs some help.

Stopped in for Happy Hour yesterday — drinks were all $ 1 off and apps(minus cheese curds) were $ 1.50 off. Not bad, but unfortunately my drink and my friend’s drink both were in dirty glasses. Mine had a straw, so I let it go, but my friend’s was so bad she had to ask for a new beer. I know this is a college bar, but still… I’m sure I will be back before Gopher games, and hopefully I have a better experience then.

I really, really like this place. It’s an excellent choice for a beer before a game, during, and after. They have a great selection if cold brews that rotate and always have specials going. The burgers here are on a pretzel bun which makes it a little bit better in my book. I came here two days in a row for lunch and it was the only time I’ve had good. The French fries are thick and tasty, always a good thing with a burger. The burger was juicy and delicious, not dry and extremely flavorful, plus it had a fried egg on it. My only knock on the place was my sister-in-law’s wrap came out in a bit of a mess, not really a wrap. If restaurants call it a wrap, then wrap it up nice and tight! Solid choice at any time, but I would stick to drinking here and lunching here.

It’s kind of hilarious to see Stub and Herbs listed as a «gastro-pub.» Oh please. This is a college bar that serves food. It has seen generations of students through their post-finals stress-release and pre-graduation binges. It is a game day staple because it’s close to the stadium. I know graduate students that practically live here. But it ain’t a gastro pub. The food is a lot better after you’ve had a few beers, but even with beer goggles on, it’s all mostly deep-fat fried and best eaten while still blisteringly hot, before you change your mind.

This is the kind of establishment that you can grab a drink with your friends, study for a midterm, catch up with your dad, type a paper on their patio in the spring, or buy a beer for the studly guy you’re trying to get handsy with. To guarantee your satisfaction, I tested all of these scenarios on your behalf and Stub and Herb’s never let me down. It is in a prime location and the noise level is tolerable when there isn’t a major event going down. They have pretty good deals on drinks and food during happy hour. The tap list has a nice mix of quality and familiarity. The food is a couple steps above your average pub(see: juicy, salty, hangover-fighting breakfast burger and the nearly-epic mountain of nachos). The service can get a little slow sometimes but I really can’t not like this place.

Finally I got here! I had heard about this place so many times, but always hit up Sallys instead. Before the gopher game we headed over there for some pre game cocktails. I ordered a bloody mary and the boyfriend ordered the $ 4 tall boys. The blood Mary was decent, noting over the top but definitely satisfying. The cost was $ 6 which was a little disappointing, but when everything else is so cheap, i can deal. We also ordered this breakfast dish that we saw others ordering. It was tater tots topped with scrambled eggs, bacon and sausage gravy. YUM! and it was only $ 8. We couldn’t even finish it between the 2 of us and it complimented the am cocktails perfectly! The place was busy and the staff was delightful(which sometimes doesn’t happen when it is packed). PSA: If you are at the bar on game day, and you have your cocktail, please step away from the bar so others can order. Do not sit there gabbing away to your girl friends while there are obviously several other people looking to get their liquor fix.

My rating here is really simple — 1 star for good service, because it is always good, and 1 star for a pretty decent beer menu. That’s it — I just can’t bring myself to give Stub & Herb’s more stars. The food is greasy, relatively overpriced for the quality, and just really uninteresting. I was in recently for lunch and had a spicy peanut burger, which was a burger with sriracha, peanut butter, and bacon on top. Sounds good, right? Well, the burger was so disgustingly greasy that the toppings formed this terrible sludge which looked revolting and had a really unsettling texture. The bacon was so huge in comparison to the burger — it made the entire thing look like a turtle with it’s legs sticking out of its shell. The fries always feel and taste like they are just grease. No potato, just grease. The décor — every time I walk into this place it feels dirty. The floors always look unclean, and there’s just nothing interesting about how this place looks. I get that they’re trying to go for this whole, «Your grandpa drank here and we’ve done nothing with the décor since then,» but honestly, it was probably pretty crappy when your grandpa drank there, and not updating it doesn’t make it retro, it makes it trashy. The beer is often served in strange glasses, which is nice, actually, and one reason I’ve given it a star. It’s nice to not always get beer in a pint glass, and while I don’t quite get it myself, I’m sure the serving style makes sense, and with such a good beer selection what do you have to lose? This is a place I’d come for happy hour if everyone wanted to do it, but it’s certainly not a place I would ever recommend for food, and definitely not somewhere that would ever be my first suggestion for a gathering.

The serving staff here wear t-shirts that say«Your Grandpa drank here» and they’re right. My Grandpa did drink here, as did my Dad, my brother, my sister and probably most of my friends. I’m still keeping up the tradition by going here as my favorite go-to pre-Gopher game watering hole. They have a great beer list. Although I’ve had a hard time getting recommendations on from servers trying new beers that I’ve actually liked. I was told the last time that«you can’t go wrong with Surly!» Except you can when that’s clearly not the type of beer I told you that I like. They are really good at geting people in and out of there before Gopher games. That may sound like a dis, but it’s actually really a honest-to-goodness compliment. Their chicken taco salad is hands-down my favorite taco salad on this planet. It’s super spicy, which is unexpected for a Minnesota institution. Their mushroom swiss burger is also surprisingly fantastic and they use portabellas which makes all the difference. The pretzel bun is extremely tasty and makes interesting sandwich. Skiumah, Stub & Herb’s!
