Lousy service at the drive thru. Has there been a management change? I had been pleased in the past with the speed and accuracy of service. Not today.

First I would like to say that I don’t normally eat Wendy’s… second I would like to say that I don’t normally eat Wendy’s. With that out of the way: Just moved into the Longfellow neighborhood… like literally, today. But was out looking for something really quick and fast-foodie to get me by until my next actual meal. Stopped here for a burger and fries since I have come to expect bad with all fast food restaurants, this place just usually does bad better. There was a casual unformed line making it’s way through the wooden penning fences like cattle into a slaughter house. Indication #1 that this was going to be awful. The really pleasant overly tattoo’d gentlement said, «Él está coito homosexual» which thanks to my four years of Spanish, was easily understandable… Gracias sir — Indication #2. Then the rude woman behind the counter that kept yelling at all her coworkers like underlings. Yes ma’am, we can hear you, but as a customer, please shut the hell up so I can get my food. The food, was expectedly greasy and yada-yada. One thing to note — If you like mystery novels or shows, you’ll really enjoy trying to figure out what the smell is in their bathroom. It looks AND smells like some(one/thing) has died in there and I would like to know the who and the how, and the why pretaining to why it hasn’t been cleaned in what looks like at least 15 years. Ahhhh Wendy’s, you have finally completely turned me off from wanting you.

I’ve pretty much been a resident of the Seward neighborhood for most of the five years I’ve lived in Minneapolis. I remember my first year in college when my friend Molly and I would go order half the menu at this Wendy’s, go back to her dorm, and watch Law and Order: SVU while taking shots of UV Blue every time something obvious was said. I’ve since outgrown my dorm room and UV Blue days, but I have not outgrown my love for Wendy’s. I’ve made many late night runs to this location and the service is hit or miss. There are a few ladies at the drive-thru who are very sweet and friendly and don’t mind having a little conversation with you at the window, something I very much appreciate. It personalizes an otherwise robotic experience. The other times are not so great. Some of the male staff members are downright cold and rude. I can’t tell you the number of times I’ve said«Hi» to them, while handing them my card, with a smile, only to be greeted by indifferent, bored eyes, and a lack of a response. From beginning to end, they don’t say anything to me whether they’re taking my money or throwing me the food. Is a little hello so difficult? I know working in fast food sucks — I did it when I was younger and I truly sympathize, but sometimes all it takes to make someone’s day is a a «hello» or «have a nice day». They also have a small tendency to mess up the orders from time to time, whether it’s forgetting to put something in the bag, straws, or substitutions on items. Mistakes happen when you’re making a meal in under a minute, so I am not unreasonable about this, but it’s annoying to have to go all the way back to the restaurant to get the salad or chili they forgot. But, on the upside, it has taught me one thing: always check your bag before you leave the parking lot! On the whole, this is a decent Wendy’s. The staff is hit or miss — either friendly or not, and they have decent hours. With a little more attention to detail on the orders, and maybe an occasional smile or word from some of their window attendants, this could easily be a five star place. But, with that said, try not to look into it so much — it’s just fast food!
