I have to say, Payless needs to work on their signage! I walked in to return a pair of super uncomfortable work shoes & saw a sign next to the socks by the register that said«entire stock women’s socks 50% off» so I grabbed a few no-shows for my converse. The gal rings me up and says $ 14.xx is your total… Which was soooooo off. I pointed this out to her and she said«it’s only if you buy a pair of shoes.» Fortunately for me, the sign said nothing about purchasing shoes. Of course, working in retail in HS and College I know that retailers have to honor their signs — even if they’re wrong! The red hairded gal told me she wasn’t going to honor the price because she already got written up for doing it before & she wasn’t going to lose her job over socks. Well, I’m glad she values her job — but your customer comes first! The worst part is that they had NOMANAGER on the clock! And she made zero effort to contact one and said I could call corporate myself — and how does that help me spend my money at Payless? It doesn’t. I did what SHE should have done, contacted her manager myself(courtesy of their contact sheet she gave me) and explained to her that they have inaccurate signage. And even the manager, Aida(pretty sure that’s her name) told me I could call corporate and that she didn’t have control over WRONG signs. Hmmmmm, Aida, really? You’re the manager, you should know better than to put up or leave up a wrong sign… Especially if you wrote up an employee for them doing their job and honoring the sign to begin with!!! Would have saved you and your corporate office from seeing this Unilocal review! On the plus side for Payless Corporate, she was smart enough to tell the employee to remove the sign after she honored the price for me.

The shoes seem to run small here? I am always an 8 ½… but even putting on a 9 here, they feel tight. Tip: Ensure you try on any shoes before you buy them! Decent selection of styles; a bit over priced, in my opinion, based on quality.(Note: this accounts for adult shoes only; I haven’t visited the children’s section.) Nevertheless, there are ample shoes available in each size. They also have a small cosmetics area; I’ve purchased lip gloss on offer before. I like it; no complaints there.

I had no idea the Mission Viejo Mall had a Payless. I was at the Apple store, and asked if the girl knew where the closest Payless was. She looked it up and we were both shocked it was right in the mall. I called from my cell phone and asked where in the mall they were, and the girl was extremely rude on the phone. I looked around the store, and found a couple pairs of shoes. Plain flats, ballet looking type shoes for work. I took them to the counter, one pair was $ 29.99 and the other was $ 19.99. I dont remember Payless being so expensive! I ended up with the lower cost shoes. The entire time I was at the counter, the salesclerk was on the phone, on a personal call and never even put the phone down the entire time she checked me out. It was Tuesday around 11:30am as well, I was the only person in the store. Between the prices and the service… no thanks!

This is one of the few locations in the area that carries the more trendy collaboration lines such as alice + olivia, Lela Rose, and zoe & zac. Lots of options in the sale section, and don’t forget the discount on the receipts has NOEXPIRATIONDATE. This is kinda my Old Navy for shoes, if you know what I mean.

I love Payless. Not for me(although I have bought for myself here, they do have good prices/sales), but for my daughter. They have THE cutest toddler shoes at great prices(from $ 10 -$ 20 a pair is the range). I got a pair of cute tennies for $ 15, and they had great arch support and fit and have lasted my daughter through over 4 months of nearly daily use.

I came in here to simply browse(don’t ask me why– I never buy anything here, I was just killing time), and in the two minutes I was in the store, I was approached by no less than THREE salesladies, asking if I needed help finding anything. I understand the concept of customer service, and I understand wanting to help, but it just got too creepy and I hightailed it out of the store before I even really SAW anything. Maybe they lay off a little more when it’s busier.
