This was my first visit at Loda and let’s just say, I’ll be back. The atmosphere is relaxed with a true dive bar feel. But what doesnt get recognized the most is the food! The Loda burger is the best I have had in a long time. Our server was fantastic and my wife loved the fish and chips! Thanks Loda!

This is probably my favorite spot in downtown mobile. Everybody’s nice, beer selection is good, and the bar food is actually really awesome, especially when compared to most of the«restaurants» in the area. I really like this spot.

Loda is one of my(and my coworkers) Go-To places for after shift tasty nibbles and drinks. My usual choice is the turkey burger with an added sunny side up egg. Seriously I like that burger more than any of the other burger options I have tried. The combo of a juicy turkey patty with mushrooms and goat cheese always makes me happy. Their onion rings are super crunchy and fresh, and with a side of garlic aioli, oh man it hits the spot. We have had great service for the most part, I have to say I really miss our best girl, Renee’. Sweet, levelheaded, and an excellent server, I hope she will come back because she is truly missed. Not to knock the other people we’ve had, we just loved her!

They have a huge variety of beers, I’d say 40+. They have pretty good food but service is ok.

Very friendly staff, even the cooks! Love this place! If you are looking for a GREAT burger look no further! The side winder fries are great! I really have to get in there on a weekend to try their Bison burger. You really can’t go wrong with anything on their menu… it’s all delicious! Be prepared for a crowd when you go, but even if you have to wait a few minutes for a place to sit, they have TONS of beers to choose from!

Hands down the best burger I ever had and I ordered it bye accident. I got the sugar rush burger. It has donuts instead of buns and it was incredible. The other burgers on the menu looked great as well. The beer menu was extensive. Service was good.

I’m not really sure what, if anything, has changed there over the last couple of years, but I feel as though this place has at the very least been trying to raise the bar. It seems as though their beer selections have become more available, and the servers/bartenders have become more familiar with the products. The food, although still not the best for a german-style beer house, has indeed gotten better. The burgers have especially upped the ante. Who knows, perhaps it was just the 20 times I visited previously that were bad experiences and nothing’s really changed at all. But, if that’s the case, hat’s off to the crew I’ve had for the last 20 or so visits. I’ve changed my mind slightly about this place. Of most of the places on this stretch of Dauphin, this one has managed to land itself back onto my list of places by which to stop. Keep up the good work folks.

I didn’t have any food here, but I’m giving the place 5 stars just for the beer. I sat down at the bar and my eyes widened at what must have been dozens, maybe over a hundred, beers on tap. Many were local brews I’d never heard of. I selected the Wake and Bake coffee oatmeal stout from Terrapin Brewing out of Athens, Georgia, after the turtle-shaped tap handle caught my attention. It was pricey, but rich and satisfying. Unfortunately I had only an hour before my flight, but I’d definitely come back to continue my tour of the Loda tap beer menu.

Stopped in for a few cold beers while in Mobile. I had a late lunch so I was just looking for a small bit to get me through. The pretzel bites really hit the spot. They were deep fried, not what I was expecting, but filled with sausage and cheese. Beer selection was better than most bars, not sure how many taps, but probably close to 100. You can get a flight, 4oz. of four different beers, for like $ 10. That is the way to go if you want to sample several different beers. All of the other food that I saw looked very good. They are know for their burgers, from what I was told. The sign out front has a burger with donuts for the bun. See the picture. I will visit when I visit again.

I was in Mobile for three nights and spent 2 out of the 3 nights here. They have over 120 beers on tap and more in the bottle if that is not enough for you. I was able to finally try the Ben and Jerry’s Salted Caramel beer. The hubby loved it, I thought it was merely okay. The food at this place was what really brought us back. The husband and I had the same orders both nights. It was just that good. We had burgers, but not the same ones. My burger was called The Courthouse and featured bleu cheese and bacon. It was huge. I cut it in half to handle it more easily. The first night, the kitchen executed medium perfectly. The second night, I could have done with a little more time on the grill for my burger. The bleu cheese sauce and the perfectly seasoned meat… oh my. I would order it a third time. The fries I ordered were flavored with Abita beer. Delicious! The second night I ordered the housemade garlic aioli as a dipping sauce. Order it, you will not be sorry. On the first visit, there were four of us. On the second night. there were nine of us. We sat at the bar the first night and at a large table the second night. Service was great both nights. You can order beer or liquor flights. The bartenders will also pour general samples of the draft beers. For the sports fans, screens are plentiful on both levels of the two story establishment. There is also outdoor street side seating. I am not sure why there are mouthwash dispensers in the bathrooms… or why the cup dispensers next to said dispensers are empty. The menu, as the name might suggest, does feature several German entrees and sides. As much as I love German food, I would likely be hard pressed not to go with a burger on a return trip.

Try the Phish ;) After a couple of very good beers at the bar and then whatever out back… I’ve never been a big Phish fan but it made the night work very well. Especially when the staff sings along. The food was great, try the pretzel bites or whatever they’re called. Although I think they can BEER-UP the Abita dipping sauce, yummy none the less. I hate turkey burgers. But this turkey burger was pretty damn good. I’d order again next time I’m in town. The staff were very knowledgeable of the beers and food and very conversational. Don’t be put off by the tattoos the dreads or the heavy piercings these guys and girls are really sweet and nice.

Excellant beer selection in a cozy place. Had the pretzel bites, filled w a slice of Brats and beer cheese dipping sauce, very good. Friendly crowd at the bar and bartender was great. You can sample as many beers as you like.

For my first day visiting Mobile, eating at LoDa Bier Garten was a wise choice. The giant pretzel with Abita beer cheese was incredible. The pork schnitzel with red cabbage and German potato salad was also delicious. A huge list of regional microbrews and a friendly staff means I will visit again, probably tomorrow.

Blah Blah and Blah… Everything here is mediocre! The service the setting, I mean everything! The beer selection is on point but what does it matter when the poor service outweighs everything! I wouldn’t come back here unless I was absolutely forced or if they were giving away free beer!

On a suggestion to try this place by a fellow restauranteur, we stopped in before visiting the USS Alabama. LoDa is in the middle of downtown Mobile. A very pleasant quiet clean, almost Bizarro area that resembles the French Quarter/Beale Street. On a Sunday afternoon when we went, the people in the vicinity reminds you of bohemians and people from Steel Magnolias. Shelby! Inside it was a very interesting looking place. Alot to look at. Cool decorations and bam! Lots of beer choices! That is what gives this place 4 stars. Lotsa of beers that I haven’t had before. Problem was I wasn’t here to drink. So I limited myself to one local watermelon brew. Yummy. Our server was obviously suffering from the worlds worst hangover. She made very little eye contact because she was squinting so bad. But she listened and got our orders right, though we had to ask for silverware and plates. She was hurting I tell ya! No harm no foul. My date went for the buffalo chick sandwich and I chose the meatloaf sandwich. Both were yummy. No complaints on the food. We had the onion rings as an app. They were ok. Not the skinny types we prefer. There is a challenge burger here to eat that had us laughing. Something like 4 patties and a shit ton of ingredients that can land you on the wall for finishing it. If you don’t its $ 35. There is also a burger called the Sugar Rush. Its made using donuts. IIIiimmmm not sure I will do that unless I am super tore up. Never say never right? the menu seems to have something for everyone. Mexican, burgers and German inspired foods like brats, schnitzels and pretzels. Its kid friendly even though it is screaming bar bar bar. The prices were good. The beer was actually cheap. I only had one. We will try it again on our next trip to the USS Alabama.

Great place to meet up with friends and grad some food and a drink. Awesome beer list and various special throughout the week. All the food looks delicious. There’s a burger called the Sugar Rush burger that is served on doughnuts! Staff is sweet and very personable. Overall had a wonderful experience and can’t wait to come back

Saenger burger was amazing, was able to split it with a friend and still had a hard time finishing it. Cooked perfectly, juicy, everything you want in a burger. Side of Mac and cheese was great as well. Excellent service, our waitress was able to give a good beer recommendation and checked on us often. Loved being able to sit outside and enjoy the breeze and view of loda with a cold beer.

Mobile, Alabama is one of our favorite places to visit. We first discovered white barbecue sauce there, a zillion different flavors of moonpies, and some killer bloody marys. Like this one from LoDa Bier Garten, the self proclaimed«Best bloody on Dauphin»(and who are we to argue?). Made with Grey Goose and Zing-Zang Bloody Mary mix, with hot sauce and Worcestershire sauce, and garnished with bacon, olives, okra(this is the south afterall), green beans, cherry peppers, celery and a freaking CHICKENNUGGET! All that and they top it off with a dash of Russian Imperial Stout. We’re fans Loda claims to have the best Bloody Mary on Dauphin. Although we’ve had some good ones up and down Dauphin street in Mobile, Alabama, we aren’t going to argue with the Germans. We DID thoroughly enjoy this drink, garnishes and all(that’s a CHICKEN nugget). For chasers they stock 175 awesome beers as well. Definitely worth the stop.
