Awesome breakfast sandwiches on toasted, buttered Portuguese rolls. You can watch them cook your sandwich, as the grill is right there in the open. I like this because it helps me kill the time waiting for my food. The fried mac and cheese bites are fun too! Also, the chocolate milkshakes(I’m pretty sure they are black and white– vanilla ice cream and chocolate syrup) are amazing. Super thick and remind me of homemade black and white shakes I make all the time in the summer!

I appreciate the customer service very much. I had my drink brought out to me on a platter. The food was delicious. And the people behind the counter were friendly. 10⁄10 would eat again

Been eating from the owners for 40+ years. Food is always consistent. Same great taste since I was a kid. This is real fast food. If you want a deep fried hotdog, cheeseburger, onion rings chilidog this is the place to go… no gourmet metal trays and nonsense. Just good roadside food without the stupid high price tags for artsy fartsy crap.

I’m limited as far as menu items I have tried because I’m hooked on the dogs. Also love the chili. That’s as far as I have gotten. That’s as far as I care to go.

Legendary. The epitome of a true«slice of Americana». I ordered a chili dog a burger and a tuna melt for a total of $ 9. My food was prepared before my eyes and served to me in a matter of seconds. The chili on the dog has no meat or beans, its like a spicy chili spread. Very nostalgic location

I drive by Mr Mac’s a few days a week and I just stopped by for the first time. The place itself was not super clean, including he French fry I sat on in a booth. Most of the tables needed to be cleaned and the bathroom needed to be picked up as well. The food I ordered was overly greasy and I couldn’t finish more than a quarter of it before throwing it out.

Best burger joint in CT! You can’t beat Mr macs for fast food made fresh in front of you. There are 2 locations one in Monroe and milford, Owned and run by the 4 Mcpadden brothers. I know them personally as I worked there in high school and they really care about their business and will remember your name. My go to is usually a double bacon cheeseburger with chicken tenders and fries. For breakfast they have the best bacon egg and cheeses around. Nice crispy bacon on a buttered and toasted Portuguese roll with egg and cheese. They are also pretty famous for their hot dogs and Chilli as well.

This place is quick, clean and good! They make really tasty chili dogs and cheese burgers. Something you don’t know — their salads are really a great value too! Fresh lettuce, onions, radishes, sliced fresh carrots, cucumbers and cabbage served up in a generous portion for a great price! This place is great and they remember your utensils to go! lol

The chili dog at this place is award winning, but I’ve been coming here my whole life for the cheeseburger and the onion rings. The rolls are always fresh, soft bakery rolls, and the patty is an old-fashioned thin serve cooked to order and dripping with cheese. As for the sides, I would recommend an order of fries and one of onion rings, as both are delicious. The fries are just standard crinkle fries, fat and freshly made, but the onion rings are the best I’ve ever had. They’re nice and thick without being sickeningly over-battered or greasy, and they are probably the only side dish I’ve ever tasted that neither needs a little extra salt or a lot of ketchup to cover something up. Furthermore, nothing sits around — they make your food in front of you, and it is perfectly done and molten hot when it comes out. Even if there’s a crowd of people(and there often is), everything is made fast and well. This is a delicious, clean and neat and justly famous local business.

Excellent chili dog. Spicy with a hint of sweetness. Definately will return when in the area.

This place is a hole in the wall and not the good kind. No one uses gloves, the servers were constantly touching their faces and it was overall not clean at all. I cringed watching at least 3 different people touch my bread, lettuce etc without using any gloves and looking as though they hasn’t washed their hands in hours. Won’t be eating here again

I love the chili dogs. Good bite to the chili and a snap to the dogs.

Kind of a guilty pleasure. My kid lo-o-o-ves the mac n cheese bites. I admit, if calories were not an issue, I would get them myself. Hubby is a huge chili dog fan and says theirs are the best.

This is the place to get your chili dog on, but warning don’t wuss out because it is spicy hot! Mmm I think I have a sick addiction to these things. Wish they sold beer or had a byob policy. Also, late night hours would be great!

The eggs are greasy, the burgers are greasy, the counters are greasy, the floor is greasy. If that is your style you will like it here. I do not.

In reading the other review here, I assume they don’t get Connecticut dog joints. Having grown up at the Merritt Canteen, Jackie’s, Cricket and the rest, Mr Mac’s does the Connecticut hot dog tradition proud. Great Hummel Brothers franks, kick’n Chili, brown mustard the way god intended it and crispy bacon bits(not the shredded bacon some others try and pass off). Dogs go in the fryer to crisp the natural casings — perfection. While we could argue about them vs. Swanky vs. Super Duper etc. There are a lot of great hot dogs in CT and Mr. Mac’s is one of them.

I really wish I got the burger… I’ve always wanted to stop here, and my boyfriend recommended this place as a good spot for a hot dog. We were taking an afternoon drive through Shelton, Monroe, Newtown and Sandy Hook and decided on our way back we’d stop at Mr. Mac’s. They had an old car show going on outside and after looking at some nice models, we went inside for some lunch. Both of us had skipped breakfast and now that it was about 3pm we were starving. I wanted to go for one of their double cheeseburgers(I watched them cooking on the grill. Looked so good!) but we saw their advertisement for their buffalo chicken sandwich and, since both of us love spicy, decided to go for those instead. Big mistake. I felt like I was eating one of those $ 1 McDonald’s chicken sandwiches that had buffalo sauce baked in. It was decent, but for $ 3.50 a sandwich(plus the extra $.35 for cherry peppers) it was definitely not worth it. It was about the same price as the double cheeseburger, and was about half the size and quality. We also split an order of fries, which were alright but nothing special and hardly worth what we paid. My boyfriend left wishing he had a hot dog, since he knew they have really good ones there. I probably won’t come back here, unless it is to try the dogs. However, there’s a Swanky Franks down the road and I hear they are supposed to be good, so I will probably just skip this place next time.
