The only thing worse than the food was the lousy service. I never once saw the girl smile and I ate two bites and left.

Consistent, no-frills, good, quick, simple, cheap diner. Just great for a fast stop to refuel with some diner goodness and go on your merry way. Huge menu by the way. Pretty much anything you’d want in a diner and more. It’s one of my girlfriend’s favorite staples.

Mediocre. There are better places to eat with this type of food in surrounding towns — i. e: Danny’s Drive ln(Stratford), Tomlinson’s(Bridgeport), etc. Don’t go into it thinking this will be the best burger or hotdog around because you will be disappointed. Also, we have had our orders messed up a couple of times, so I’m not a huge fan of that for obvious reasons.

Wow Bills had changed. It took forever to get my order and when I did the burger and hot dog looked as if it was squeezed as it was wrapped, The evidence was where I can see the finger marks. The hot dog was slopped together and cold. The fries wrapped so tight I had smashed fries and frozen fries that not very tasty. Sorry Bills drive should be Bills drive out of the parking lot and go somewhere else, need to step up your game! Not a good experience, not coming back.

First off before I begin… I couldn’t help but comment on the«lulia B» review. You ordered an egg white sandwich and complained it was egg whites between 2 pieces of white toast. WTF are you expecting? You want more on the sandwich open your big mouth and ask. When I order a bacon, egg and cheese I am expecting those ingredients between 2 pieces of bread or a roll. Sounds like you need to hit Starbucks for some artificial food, you crybaby. This is roadside fast food. You go in, order, eat and get the bleep out. Bills is real fast food, not artificial rubber biscuits like mcdonalds, burger rat, and wendys. And while we’re at it stay away from that roach motel Duchess on RT25. FILTHHOLE. Bills is great for breakfast and lunch. You’ll always get the same consistency and 9 out of 10 times even during the busiest times you’ll be in and out in a flash. The owners are very serious about their establishment and go out of their way to make sure their customers are always satisfied. I don’t work here or even know the owners just someone who has been eating here occasionally since it was Ligouri’s drive in back in the 70s. It has changed but its still there and for being in Monroe that’s saying something. Nothing lasts in Monroe… Another great fast food joint on the other side of town is Mr. Macs. Original owners of Merrrit Canteen in BPT. I will only eat at these 2 places for burgers and dogs in the immediate area.

Joint # 69: BILL’S DRIVEIN, Monroe, CT. Bill’s Drive-In is an old school joint that hasn’t seen many changes since its inception. Speaking of that, we couldn’t find any information on how long Bill’s has been slinging dogs! According to a few food reviews online however, they have been around for a ‘very long time.’ We heard about ‘em through the Hot Dog grapevine. RATING(S):… John 8/10, Me: 8⁄10. John(aka J. Diggity Dawg) said, «We had our standard usual mustard, onion, sauce. We had a skinless Hummel Bros, chili which was mild, there wasn’t really any spice to it. They like to keep it mild here, but it did have good flavor. Chopped onion was good, wasn’t overpowering. Spicy mustard, I don’t know which brand they use, but it was good. Fried, and then light griddle and it all came out perfect for me. It was really good. I would have liked more spice in the chili. I’m going with a solid 8 on this dog. I’d definitely recommend coming down here. The bun was nice … split top, soft and wasn’t overdone at all. J. Diggity 8.» I(aka Dog Man Sac, or DMS) said, «John told you everything you needed to know, except he didn’t tell you that we ordered the jumbo dog, the long dog. It was very good. I would have preferred a natural casing. It was skinless. I would have preferred it cooked a little longer. I’m not sure if that makes sense, but a little crunchier somehow? The chili also was a little ‘saucy’. That’s right folks, it was ‘saucy’. Could have used a little more meat, maybe a little more flavor. On half the dog we added this little hot sauce that they gave us, which was like a Frank’s Red Hot. It was delicious with the hot sauce, got to be honest. I am a solid DMS8 — a Dog Man Sac 8 folks.» Follow &LIKE us on FACEBOOK for more hot dog joint ratings!!!

The good: Philly cheesesteak, home fries, hot dog. Not so good: burger– was burnt, French toast– bland, fries– dry and no flavor, orzo soup — ok but again no seasoning. Not sure if we will go back. Maybe other selections would be better.

Go to Mac D’s. At least you have the option of a 100 percent chicken cutlet sandwich. The fries are good but ask questions as to how and what they are making for you. Also it is very odd how they use a computer to place your order yet they shout out order to the cooks.

Yes food is cooked and served fast but it’s not FRESH. I could eat the same thing at McDonalds but cheaper. The food has no seasoning which is huge when it comes to food especially at that price. Everything is rushed and even I was rushing to leave to get away. As for the sitting area very outdated and I sat in a hole in the booth.

Something on the full menu for everyone… Quick all around diner style meals. Good gyro’s and chili dogs. We always go back because we know what to expect. They are on our takeout rotation too.

Ok, people I have to say I am SHOCKED that this place would ever be able to get 4 stars… I mean I understand nostalgia but this is litteraly frozen food that is prepared fast, unseasoned and completely tasteless. My husband and I decided to give this place a try this morning. I ordered an egg white sandwich(which was nothing but egg whites nestled in between 2 pieces of toast) and a side of hash browns. Last I checked, stuffing something in between 2 pieces of bread does not a sandwich make, at least not a delicious one. or was i supposed to order anything else I wanted on the sandwich separate? And the hash browns, were exactly like the ones at McD’s but even less tasty if that’s possible. We also asked for a cup of coffee, which was poured behind the counter, so I couldn’t control how much sweetener or cream I wanted. And the hubby’s so called home fries tasted like mush. I understand that this place has been around for a long time but really? The whole thing needs a lift… starting with the food. Talk about a blah experience. Certainly, not worth our money.

Yumm. Bill’s is very close to McDonalds. Please go to Bill’s. Your stomach will thank you. Delicious, crispy food with great flavor. Burgers are pretty thin, but very good nonetheless. I love the gyros and soulvaki, as well as the Onion Rings. Try this place.

Oh, Bill’s. This is another local place that I have been eating at since I was a munchkin. It’s a very quaint, retro place, with the window-facing stools and long order counter. It is also a REAL greasy spoon, emphasis on the greasy. I mean, if you’re coming here, you are coming here for a VERY certain type of food. I’ll always come back for the tuna melts and gyros(both of which are very ‘American’ style), which are giant, styrafoam packed lunches of rib-sticking deliciousness. The veggie burgers are also strangely very good considering the meat-and-potatoes style of the rest of the dishes. Breakfast is also satisfying, especially for kids: it is a really fun place to take little ones for breakfast, as it has very kid friendly meals, and the décor is a real old-fashioned treat. As for everything else, it’s sort of hit-or-miss. Keep in mind, this isn’t the kind of «gourmet» diner you see on the Food Network, rather, it’s a local institution that churns out a certain type of food(read: fast and filling) for people who will always come back to eat it. But let’s be clear, I DON’T mean that in a negative way by any means, and that doesn’t mean that Bill’s isn’t a tasty, respectable place — because it is tasty and respectable. It’s been there forever, and continues to churn out good, no-frills food in a cute location at reasonable prices. Just don’t go there expecting gourmet quail hash or french toast made from grandma’s homemade cinnamon bread. But if you’re in the mood for something like a simple basic, drippingly juicy burger, or a stack of homestyle French toast with packet maple syrup(which, let’s face it, sometimes even the foodie in me is in the mood for), then Bill’s will(pun intended) fit the bill.

Bill’s is a Monroe go to food joint. I’ve been going here since I was a kid and I continue to frequent it when I’m back in town. They have a unique variety of dinner meals, breakfast food items and fast food. I’m a vegetarian, so I typically go for veggie burgers, grilled cheese, or a pepper/egg grinder. Love a good side of home fries or curly fries, washed down with an Orangina. Staff is friendly, orders come out of the kitchen pretty quickly– great times! I will say I gave it four stars instead of five because of the dining area– I think it could use a bit of a update, but it’s definitely got that diner feel. Also, they used to have pinball machines and I kind of miss that.

Great casual dining. Each Friday, I’ll meet our daycare provider with all the kids for lunch and we always have a good time. The menu has a large variety of options, breakfast is served all day, the staff is friendly and the establishment(including the bathrooms) are always clean. Service is always quick. But if you’re in a hurry during peak lunch time, it’s best to call ahead and pick up at the«phone-in orders» register. My favorite menu items are whole wheat french toast, clam strips platter, chili cheese burgers and foot-long hot dog with fried onions… mmmmm. After reading reviews about they’re milk shakes, I think I’ll have to make a quick stop on my way home for a malted chocolate!

I love Bill’s drive in! My parents were coming here for years and turned me onto the place when I was in high school. It is a little pricey compared to most burger and hot dog places, but the food quality is higher so it is well worth it. I miss when they used to have the old car shows here, but it is still a great place to eat. We meant to come here a week ago, and ended up at a different place that has the same vibe but it could in no way compare to Bill’s! Highly recommended!

Bill’s has been around… as long as I can remember! My mom used to send me in here when I was real little to get our dinners while she waited in the car(times were different!). The owner is always working and he is a very sweet guy. The food is delicious and the menu has never really changed, except for a few healthier items. Want a REAL milkshake? Go here! This is classic drive in food… burger, dogs, fries but done sooo good. Waits are longer around lunch and dinner but that is to be expected. Even after all these years, I will still run in there to pick up food for my mom… and the owner knows who we are!

Ahh-h-h-h, the memories of childhood. I always expected to see gals on roller skates ready to take our orders. A slice of Americana where the classic burgers and chili dogs taste the way that you always thought they should. Bill’s gets it right.
