Tiny dive place. Girlfriend ordered a jumbo hot dog with only sauerkraut and it was as good as she expected it to be. I ordered a cod sandwich and it was smaller than I expected. Taste-wise, it was just fine. Spudsters aka fried mashed potatoes nuggets, were very good as a side. I see some reviews complaining about how the place looks, but this is a drive-in dive type of place, not a sit-down restaurant. Staff seem friendly and accommodating. I would probably stop by a couple more times. It was good enough, but it didn’t wow me. Prices were pretty good.

Processed chicken sandwich, tasteless fish sandwich. Fries were improved with salt and lots of ketchup but we definitely left wishing we’d stopped elsewhere. Leaves a lot to be desired. Looks like it’s for sale too? Hopefully the next owners step up their game for this place.

Stopped by for a quick hot dog. Was not impressed. Low quality dog very salty. Looking inside the small prep area seemed very dirty and run down. Also had a fountain pepsi and that tasted off, was flat. My advice keep driving.

Joint # 70: BOTSFORDDRIVE-IN, Newtown, CT. Botsford Drive-In is another joint that is tough to find history on. There is no official website, although we did find their Facebook page, but no information with regards to history of joint, etc. As with Bill’s, we tried to piece together a picture of the joint from previous food reviews from Unilocal,Road Food, etc. Talk about mixed reviews!!! This place has the highest scores and the lowest. We wanted to form our own opinion of the joint, so we pulled a hard right into the parking lot to check it out. You can’t miss it as the siding is a unique, almost circus-like, red and white alternating color pattern. RATING(S):… J. Diggity Dawg: 7/10, Dog Man Sac: 7.5÷10. J. Diggity said, «Had a Texas Chili Dog, mustard, onion, sauce. It was a Meisterchef dog(made by Kayem Foods) which was apparently beef, chicken and pork. It really altered the taste of the dog. I wasn’t a huge fan of it. The chili tasted canned. Onion was good. Bun was alright. I’m going with a 7. That dog really through me off from what I was expecting.» Dog Man said, «This place is interesting. I agree wholeheartedly with John’s comments. The onion was the best topping on the dog. The chili was canned and it was mixed with hot sauce and that is still canned chili. The dog was a Meisterchef, not local to Connecticut as far as I know. Very small dog. Fried and put on the griddle, but I don’t know… to me it kind of tasted flavorless. I’m a Dog Man Sac 7.5÷10.» For 69 more HOTDOG reviews, please follow &LIKE us at:

Good grilled hot dogs. Great for a quick snack or lunch. People are friendly and service is fast. Prices very affordable. Not a gourmet hot dog place but they serve up good dogs. The menu also has some other options like chicken fingers, fried oysters, fried shrimp, and fried clams, French fries, onion rings, burgers I believe.. Not the place for healthy options but I’d definitely stop in again if I was in town.

Hmm. I’ve never been a fan of this place. A year or so ago I ordered a chicken sandwich from here. And it was so so disgusting. The sandwich was so hard that you literally couldn’t break it in half. Freezer burn? However my boyfriend really liked their food so we frequented this food stand on many road trips. Lately even he doesn’t like their food. We probably won’t be returning in the near future.

I actually love this place… It is simple food, good quality, great prices, friendly staff. My kids love the food… You never feel like your getting taken advantage of… :)

I tried this place over the summer and was looking forward to it since I know it has been here for a very long time. Well, I went through the drive through and the girl who took my order was friendly and polite. I got a chili dog, fries and a clam strip platter. The food was heavy and greasy. It was okay overall. However, waiting in the back of the establishment put me off a bit as it was filled with junk.

New to the area and could tell this place has some history so I figure the food must be good… Totally shocked and disappointed. Took a few bites and my son and I tossed our meals in the trash. How did Swanky Franks or whatever it’s name was go out of business with this place as its competition? The dogs there were way better.

King Dog Loaded! Chocolate Shake! Big time order of fries! Yessss! That’s what I’m talking about!!! It’s hard to be serious about a roadside joint that just offers fast fun food that you mostly eat in your car(picnic tables are nice when the weather is nice). But I’m dead serious when I say that this is the best dog in CT, period! Get the king dog loaded and see what I mean. I try all the dog places. All of them. I eat out of the dirty water carts, the depressing mall counters, every roadside place I pass, every bar/restaurant, every sporting venue… I love hot dogs and I eat them all the time. This is the best in CT for me as of 2012 and I’ve been going here for almost 20 years.

Do not eat here. McDonalds is better than this slop hole. It’s bad microwaved crap. Best hotdog in Ct? Seriously? Go to jk’s in Danbury.

Fine examples of traditional New England hot dogs but nothing worth going out of your way for. Damnably slow service.

The greatest hot dog in the world. Comes CT style on bread instead of a bun and they’ll load it up with bacon, chili and whatever you want. Throw a big bag of the world’s greasiest fries in the mix and you’ve got artery clogging goodness!!! check out pictures of them at
